  1. Champion's League revenue is never negotiated by individual teams. Italy's domestic TV money is rigged pretty strongly in favor of the traditional powerhouses. If I can find a link I will edit the post and put it in. This should do it: http://worldfootballweekly.com/2014/02/26/what-is-strangling-serie-a/
  2. The market pool portion of the payout is based on your league position the prior year, how many clubs from your nation make the group stage, and how big your nations TV contract is. I assume that Italy is paying big money for Champion's League TV so Juventus's share was large because they only had to split it with one other club. The top three clubs from England would do better if the fourth place club lost in the playoff round and went to the Europa League.
  3. Thank you Bearsy. I will try to learn something from all of this.
  4. I should have pointed out that he had us rated 6th earlier in the year. http://www.espnfc.com/blog/name/68/post/2145093/headline
  5. I was unable to locate it in the 5 minutes I devoted to the project. I did find this article which is fairly recent and relevant. Perhaps the information is proprietary so journalists can get access to it for articles, but the whole list is not publically available. Or perhaps I just failed in my googling. It is time for bed. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2901692/Newcastle-midfielder-Moussa-Sissoko-Premier-League-s-fastest-player.html
  6. It's because I am a rich billionaire who lives alone, except for my butler, in my mansion just outside of the city and I need a hobby. I couldn't think of anything else to do. Do you have any ideas?

  8. I just published "Milestone 20,556" which quoted both of these posts because I am trying to win back eurosaint as a reader and I want to latch onto the big Bearsy fan base. Naturally, I completely ignored Dangermouth who likes my work.
  9. Rule 6.6.3 is the relevant one.
  10. Hence, its high popularity.
  11. I thought he was attacking the breaking story itself, not your post bringing it to our attention which was quite appropriate.
  12. A valid point, but they also like to shuffle in new people to sell a fresh bunch of jerseys so who knows.
  13. Stripes do present a problem for viewers on TV. Hull stripes and our stripes were a pain to watch.
  14. All the more reason why there is no incentive for Southampton to put a deal in place before the summer.
  15. This makes no sense. Fiorentina is less likely to make the Champions League and has a lot less money than we do to pay higher wages.
  16. I just assumed Toby would handle it, but I guess it is a problem because he is injured right now.
  17. I have heard that the use of excessively cute, but warlike, nicknames can weaken the hamstrings. Careful.
  18. Or Real Madrid and PSG.
  19. The Swiss Ramble has a chart showing how much top teams got for being in the Champions League in the midst of its recent post about Chelsea. Here is the link: http://swissramble.blogspot.com/ Simply put, the range was from 27.2 to 44.8 million pounds. Payments are expected to be at least 30 percent higher next year. If we finished fourth, qualify for the group phase, but lose all our games we get around 20 million pounds, plus the 30 percent plus. If we finish third and advance to the semi-finals like Chelsea did last year would get nearly 44 million pounds, plus the 30 percent plus.
  20. deleted because cut and paste failed.
  21. Why should it not take more now? If we qualify for the Champion's League, we can give him loads more money. Qualifying for the group stage last year was worth in excess of 30 million pounds and for next year payments will go up at least 30 percent. Admittedly, there is some variability depending on whether you finish 3rd or 4th in the BPL and how many games you win or draw in the group phase, but that is still a lot of money. Surely, Schneiderlin would take a couple of million of that to put off his Arsenal transfer a year especially if Arsenal is not in the champions league next year. True, but who says we won't pay him that too. He would be worth it if anyone is.
  22. If I do the research to figure this out, it will written up as a blog post and we all know it is the sort of thing that saps some people's will to live. Do any of us really want that? (Also, I am swamped with work right now so big research blog projects are out.)
  23. By spending far in excess of what would be allowed under the current financial fair play rules.

  25. To be fair though, with the current rules in place we would have had trouble getting out of the Championship the way we did. Oddly enough, League One would not have been a problem.
