If I am reading the rule correctly "Club" refers only to Premier league clubs so we could loan additional goalkeepers out to foreign clubs or to lower league clubs. Here is the rule: A.1.33. “Club” means an association football club in membership of the League and: (a) for the purposes of Rules E.39 to E.49 inclusive includes any club which is entitled to be promoted from the Football League to the League; (b) for the purposes of Rules A.1.51, A.1.55, A.1.164, and Sections F and H of these Rules (including any Forms prescribed therein) includes any Associated Undertaking, Fellow Subsidiary Undertaking, Group Undertaking, or Parent Undertaking of such Club; and © for the purposes of Section G of these Rules, Rules I.1 to I.7 and Rule J.3 (and including any Forms prescribed therein) includes any Associated Undertaking, Fellow Subsidiary Undertaking, Group Undertaking, Parent Undertaking or Subsidiary Undertaking of such Club; "club" without the capital "C" has a different meaning, but V 7.7 uses the capital "C". A.1.34. “club” means an association football club not in membership of the League;

The new TV deal is for the 2016-2017 season. But there is still some money available for transfers even if we make no sales and we are not going to make no sales. It will be easier to figure out when last years financials are published which should be soon.

This statement is factually incorrect, in part. -

I think their methodology is flawed but then bigness is a subjective concept. I would like to see a list that ranked the biggest clubs by weight.

I didn't know if there was some special rule that would apply because Serbia was in the (very long) process of seeking admission to the EU. Thanks for letting me know.

Are Serbian players treated as EU players for work permit purposes?

That Winston Churchill. Completely unable to come up with his own pithy quotes so he has to steal them from Mark Twain. Churchill's childhood story about tricking someone else into painting a fence was really ridiculous. -
Ok. But it seems crazy for England to bid for a World Cup intending to spend a lot of unnecessary money on stadiums when England is one of the few countries in the world that already has the necessary stadiums in place. But then FIFA pretty much requires craziness in the World Cup bidding process.

I actually broke my kneecap in May 1969. I landed directly on my kneecap while trying to steal home in the top of the first inning of the first game of the season while playing Little League Baseball. I had to wear a cast for 6 weeks and was not really allowed or able to run around like a normal kid for another six weeks after that. However, if I was rehabilitating like a modern professional athlete I would have been back in much less than six months. On the other hand, his knee cap break might very well be worse than mine in how it affected the surrounding tissue. I did suffer intermittent minor to moderate pain in the years since then although not much in the past 15 years. I will be back with more information if any of our players come down with minor lower back pain or Ossgood-Schlatter's disease.

Who knows? It might have worked if you hadn't posted. However, I tend to google first so probably not. There are certainly a bunch of very strange giant banana photos out there. Don't worry. I took care of it. As for Oldham-Southampton 1993, I found a 26 minute video on You Tube. If I watch it am I really going to see Southampton fans dressed as Sheikhs? I am really not in the mood to spend the time right now. I already spent way too much time earlier trying to find the officially approved new work permit rules. The Home Office and FA web sites are useless and, unlike me, most of the people who write about football feel no obligation to link to their sources. I may have to make a long distance phone call to England to get the information.

That is sort of what I said, but more complicated--because I always make things more complicated. Should I explain why?

I have a crazy idea. Let's all wait and see what happens and then use that to judge your itk credibility in the future. -
True, but meaningless. My attendance at any specific match would not prove anything. I have seen/heard videos of racist behavior by football fans and read reports of such. Unless there is a massive conspiracy to fake racism, the evidence of racism at some level in football is overwhelming. You will note that in my blog I did not specifically accuse individuals of being racist, I merely asserted that the problem existed and that there were steps that could be taken to mitigate the problem. And I am certainly not claiming that the problem of racism is worse in England than in the United States. Exactly what would I learn about racism if I attended a Southampton game in person? Most likely, I would hear and see no racist activity. But if I did, any report I made would be treated skeptically by those who want to deny that a problem exists as were the posts by twopintsnilnil on this thread. There have been other accusations of racism from people besides Jason Roberts and I am quite confident that no member of a racial minority cries racism at the first opportunity. If they did they would have no chance to do anything else because the opportunities to complain about racism come all too frequently. As for being livid if a black job candidate got an interview because he was black and you didn't, your outrage would be grossly misplaced. In effect, you are arguing for a system which racists can freely discriminate so long as they do not admit their racism, because it cannot be detected, but anyone who takes even the slightest step to mitigate the problem have done something horribly wrong. Thus, racism, so long as it is not too overt, can continue on its merry way. As for your wild speculation as to how a minority coaching candidate should feel if he got a job interview as a result of the Rooney rule, quite simply you have no idea what you are talking about. To be clear: I researched the issue and found reports suggesting that racial discrimination against Asians in English football is a problem. However, because I have not attended an English football game in person, my research is trumped by your impression. I linked to four sources that reported the existence of racial discrimination against Asians in English football. What additional research would you suggest?
-
True enough but I made the effort to inform myself before forming the opinions. The most interesting thing I learned was that, to my surprise, the strongest evidence of racial bias in English football is for bias against the Asian minority. Before I started my research I had no idea that was even an issue.
