I don't know exactly what he said, but it can be paraphrased as "I believe that the way Oyston is running Blackpool is somewhat suboptimal." I hope that doesn't get me sued.

I want the seventh place Europa position locked up as soon as possible. It would be nice to know we were on our way to Europe before the season ends.

That is why the UK libel laws are so stupid. In the USA, a public figure must prove that the alleged libeler knew the statements were false or made them in reckless disregarded for whether or not they were false. I would rather he started the go fund me campaign to fight the initial case.

Surely, he would agree to a 50% pay cut to play for us in the Europa League.

Thank you. I was able to locate the reports now. Unfortunately, the 2014 report is not out yet.

Can anyone tell me the official name of the company that owns Bournemouth so I can look up their financials at company house?

CLUB ACCOUNTS: 2013/14 - Saints reveal first profit
Redslo replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I have been reviewing the official financial statements for the fiscal year ending 30/6/14. They were filed yesterday. Payroll, including social security and other pension costs, has increased from £47,059,505 to £62,951,136. In 2013, player salaries were approximately 3/4 of the total salary so that would put them at £47 million which would mean that we are no where near the salary cap last year. On the other hand, if the rate of growth continued into this year we would be pushing the salary cap. However, I doubt we actually increased player salaries by 33% over last season. This suggests to me that, baring another profitable player trading summer, our salary cap for next year will be around the standard £60 million plus income from Europe, if any, and that we will have no trouble staying under that limit. -
Not a definitive answer but some information. http://www.theguardian.com/football/david-conn-inside-sport-blog/2014/jan/24/bournemouth-fa-cup-liverpool-demin-russian-invisible-man

You should thank me. If it were not for me you would have made the exact same prediction.

I focused on the part where the article stated that we have received 28 million pounds, 15 million up front. However, it also sounds like Shaw would have been happier here with RK than in Manchester.

I liked it better as "time". It made me think some. Always a good thing.
-
Maybe not. That will depend on who leaves and what we do to strengthen for Europe. The point here is that Isgrove uses an otherwise empty roster spot so we will keep him with the club unless he is literally worse than nothing because nothing is what will replace him.

Rodriguez has returned - BREAKING: NEW CONTRACT SIGNED

I agree. -
They are young enough that they don't have to go on the 25 man roster next year. I discussed this on my blog. http://redsloscf.blogspot.com/2015/01/southamptons-european-roster-issues.html

Also, a worthy winner.

And the amount of money he could pump in was limited by FFP. Although I suppose he could have cheated like QPR did (obviously, not to the same extent) and figured he would worry about that later.

Exactly what you are doing. Also, me.

it is morally wrong if the negotiations involve a club in the same league because it creates a conflict of interest. What if Clyne had a chance to score the goal that put us in the Champions League and moved MU to fifth? Would he do it knowing that he was going to be playing at MU next year and wanted to play in the Champions League? We would all like to hope so, but maybe not. Many rules are intended to preemptively eliminate the conflict of interest before it can arise. That is why on loan players can't play against their parent clubs. I assume this is why players in the last six months of their contract can negotiate to sign with clubs in other countries, but not other Premier League clubs. It is clear that the Premier League worries more about these things than some other leagues. Just look at how Chelsea was forced to allow Courtois to play against them in the Champions League. It was a clear violation of their contract and would not have been allowed in England but the UEFA viewed the ethical issue in the completely opposite way. But I digress. Making an advance deal with a club in another league is less problematic, but if the deal is dependent on remaining healthy, the player would have an incentive not to go all out for the rest of the season. Clyne might, for example, look at Jay Rodriguez and decided he wants to spend next season playing for MU rather than rehabilitating here. So yes. It is morally wrong to negotiate a new deal while your are still under contract with your old club. I would suggest that it is morally wrong even if your old club gives you permission. On the other hand, our near certain elimination for the Champions League may be why this is coming out now. Maybe we refused to negotiate with MU about Clyne until we no longer had a chance to pass MU.

A brilliantly detailed and accurate analysis of nearly all of the trees in the forest.

Rodriguez has returned - BREAKING: NEW CONTRACT SIGNED

If he got injured playing darts in a bar or something, I would agree with you. But he got injured playing for us. The moral obligation runs from Southampton FC to him not the other way around. -
Isgrove is needed for our European roster as being likely our only club trained players (assuming Schneiderlin is going).
-
Even worse, I never would have become a Southampton fan.

You must be really boring.
