  1. I bought a couple of kids kits from California year before last so there is that.
  2. Can anyone explain why the financial report is not yet available at company house? I am not suggesting there is anything improper going on, I just want to look at the actual annual report.
  3. I have a stupid American question. Why are no trains running on Dec 25 and 26?

I am 99.456% certain it was a joke. Edit: Make that 99.459% after additional research.

A very humorous response. However, if that was going to happen it would have occurred with FM2011 when I played Middlesbrough for a season because I felt bad about Liebherr's death. I have been posting less because my workload has been much higher and in recently weeks I have been dealing with my cat dying. (I blogged about that if anyone is interested.) http://redsloscf.blogspot.com/ http://redsloscf.blogspot.co.uk/ Also, there has been less to blog about these past several months. There was no need to address the massive fan panic like summer of 2014. Our start was neither so outstanding or so poor that it required comment. Had we qualified for the group phase there probably would have been several subjects worth looking at but it didn't happen. But thanks to the OP for the compliment and thanks to Turkish for keeping track of me and my posts under the user name "claretslo".
  6. I am pretty sure the super computer uses lots more data that the results of the first eight games to make its prediction. It is just different from a preseason pick because it also uses the results of the first eight games. No doubt it views Chelsea as good enough to win the title based upon last year, but moves them down because their current record makes its difficult mathematically to reach first and because it suggests that they are not as good as they were.

    Graziano Pelle

True, but you don't get to watch important incidents multiple times from different angles.
  8. He transferred from Gent to Chelsea in the January 2012 transfer window at age 20. He is home grown in Belgium and club trained at Gent.
  9. No. They are suggesting that Long last season was probably slightly better than Lallana last season. Just like Yoshia last season was better than Lovren last season, but not better than Lovren was with us.
  10. And he might stay an extra year so as to take the Dutch job after the next world cup. Ok so you said it first on this thread.
  11. Surely this comment was intended as some kind of performance art. I thought Fonte was expected a direct shot on goal and was sliding by to block it .
  12. I just posted "Predictions 2015-2016 (Round 7)." http://redsloscf.blogspot.com/ http://redsloscf.blogspot.co.uk/
  13. I always assumed he would extend one year and then take over the Holland job after the 2018 world cup.
  14. I just posted "Predictions 2015-2016 (Round 6)" I will probably not be blogging much over the next month other than these weekly predictions because I just found out my cat is dying. Feel free to be sympathetic but don't over do it.
  15. Their calculator seems crocked to me. Why do they have a column for league games played between 7/3/14 and 7/9/14? Why won't it let me enter a position? Why does it refuse to believe that Messi scored more than 40 goals in a season?
  16. http://www.maplandia.com/united-states/kentucky/hopkins-county/barnsley/ but probably not.
  17. I just posted "Predictions 2015-2016 (Round 5)"
  18. And if it drops at all this year it will be because we let him go.
  19. Actually total salary spent on players seems to be the best indicator.
  20. I would suggest that the transfer window was broken and was boarded over.
  21. What a strange metaphor.
  22. Don't be such an optimist. It will start next summer. Maybe the illness is a "blessing" if he could not pass a medical right now?
  23. The break away league would have to be organized like American sports so there would be a salary cap and revenue sharing. There might even be some kind of a draft--if there is a way to make that league under European Law. This would create a situation where any club, if they are well run (or lucky), could contend for the title. Have a 64 group phase that plays on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday. Each club would only have two of the Thursday-Sunday weeks during the group phase. The knock out phase has 32 clubs and plays the same basic schedule as the Europa League does now, except Tuesdays and Wednesdays are also available. More Champions League games for TV. More clubs in the group phase so the revenue would be split more giving less of a big advantage to the regular qualifiers. England might well end up with 6 or 7 clubs in the group phase each year.
  24. I just posted "Prediction 2015-2015 (Round 4)."
  25. My prior response exceeded the character limit so I continue it here: You do understand that FFP limits the clubs ability to just throw money at the situation even if Liebherr was willing to do that? I don't think Wanyama is looking at the new players who have come in and concluding their are mediocre compared to those who left. It clearly wasn't the case last year and (despite three bad games to start the season) is probably not the case this year. Also, I doubt Wanyama is an big expert at judging talent. We could certainly pay one or two players that much, but then everyone else would want something similar or they would leave. As for the money wasted on Osvaldo, I agree, but the problem is knowing in advance what transfers will turn out to be a waste of money. Ramirez didn't work out either but he was viewed as one of the best young prospects in the world when we signed him. The simple answer is "they were" (albeit in times when wages were lower) and that is why clubs like Portsmouth (and probably us) had financial troubles and why FFP was created. Your questions are valid but hard to answer from the inside. To take an example, last year it was revealed after the transfer window closed that the club sold Chambers because they viewed Clyne as the better choice and were happy to take the money rather than have an unhappy Chambers sitting on the bench. The problem with this approach is that one year later we have lost Clyne as well. I would have offered Clyne a new contract with a big raise before selling Chambers. Why didn't that happen? Or did it and Clyne refused? We outsiders can't know, but that is the question I am most curious about with respect to the last year's plus transfer activities. On the other hand, I think we have to be realistic about what we tell players. If Mane was sold on coming here by being told that if he plays well for two years we will be selling him at a big profit to a big club, there is nothing wrong with that as opposed to telling him that if he did well we would refuse to sell him even if Barcelona came calling. If we get a reputation for not letting players move up, we will have trouble recruiting good prospects. On the other hand, if we let them know clearly in advance that we expect two (or three) good years out of them before we will sell then it is a win win situation. (Unless the player turns out to be no good.) I think it could be fairly said that the last trophy we won was an odd one. The MLS salary cap seems to be breaking down somewhat with the increasing number of designated players. But more relevantly, a real salary cap is inconsistent with a relegation based league structure especially with European competition. The only way Football is getting a salary cap is if the big clubs throughout Europe break off into a superleague and impose revenue sharing for that league. That might be fun to watch, but Southampton is not likely to be invited into the superleague. Everyone forgets FFP when these discussion start.
