You obviously weren't in Bristol Saturday On arrival at the station you were met by a wall of Police in Riot gear. In the ground despite there being no trouble at all, the Police decided half way through the second half to surround a complete block of Saints fans for no reason at all, obstucting the view of many and likley to provoke trouble not stop it. After the second goal I left the ground so missed the goings on in the ground at the fianl whistle, but once outside the ground there was a wall of police, until you got into the road by the park where you came into contact with the City fans. In this location which was a potential trouble spit if ever here was as this is the route all fans going back to the station had to take there was not a Policeman top be seen. The Police seemed to have just one agenda, nick as many Saints fans as possible, Crowd safety appered to be the last thing on their agenda.

Just spoke to my contact in ticket office (I get tickets for London saints) and was told 250 tickets returned to Watford and tickets definately available on the day Was also told there is currently inspection going on at Watford, not for pitch (which is Ok), but for stands and surrounding areas / roads to make sure they are safe for spectators

I think we might even get 100 up there (20+ London Saints going on the train)

From what i've been told, it is Stern John is the 14k a week man, although last season I believe Sunderland were paying half of that as part of Kenwyn Jones transfer deal. The goings on sound very sad indeed surely Lowe must realise that he has very little support from ordinary shareholders or supporter. Mind you he seems to be living in a Mugabe like world where in his opinion he's done nothing wrong yet for some reason everyone is against him.

IMO As Its on Setanta rather ITV I think it's more likley to sell out

Don't know times from Southampton as going from Salisbury, but trains from Basingstoke to Reading leave at 07 and 37 if thats any help and take 24 mins.
-
4 for 2 deals are avaialbe on the day, however as Lady Saint states above they are not usable on cross country trains. So you need to use SW Trains up to Basingstoke and change there for locals Basingstoke trains 2 an hour going up (takes just under 30mins) up if you are using that particular deal.
-
Not a problem Phil, there is now an hourly service in addition to Bristol trains that starts at Salisbury goes to Southampton then via Eastleigh to Romsey and then back via Eastlieigh, Southampton to Salisbury so plenty of room for those from Salisbury or Romsey and avoid all those from Bristol both going down and back.

Preston 2-3 Saints - You've Gotta be Havin' a Laugh
oldsarum replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
As Preston's 2nd goal flew I and many others dissapeared downstairs for a beer, like so many games this season we looked dead and burried. Everyone at half time was dispondent, there was no optmism to be found at all. But it was soon evident in the second half that the players attitude had changed, and this was reflected in the vocal support Saints recived well before we got a goal back. The celebrations when we equalised were quite something, but nothing compared to those when McGoldrick scored the winner, with a mini pitch invasion and everyone going mental. It was a great comeback and excellent second half preformance and BWP and Oscar could easily have scored themsleves had it not been for last ditch clearences by Preston. All in all it made the 7+ hour train trip back to Salisbury most enjoyable. Some days you wonder just why you bother, but games like Saturday's make it all worth while. -
A quick update regarding Clydie's Funeral, which I attended in Charing (near Ashford, kent) last Friday, along with 20-30 other London Saints all adorned in our Saints Shirts. see write on London Saints website http://www.londonsaints.com/moxie/newsslug/clydie-weekes.shtml Funeral was more of a celebration of his life than a solemn affair, and it made everyone who attended aware of just how much Clydie did for others in his lifetime. Only shame about whole thing was that the vicar was a skate ! I bet even Clydie saw the funny side of that.
-
4 of us going up from Salisbury I would imagine only about 500 in total though
-
If you have a network card, try return to Banbury using card, then a return from Banbury to Coventry. Price using this option from Salisbury £31.50

We were lucky at times its true, but what those highlights do not reflect is the almost total dominace and numerous missed chances we had after 2nd goal, instead onlyt showing Kelvin save in the last minute of the game.

Heard the sad news about 5PM last night. There were a lot of upset London Saints in pub before the game. Thought that last nights perormance was a fitting tribute to Clydie. Was almost like he was there helping Kelvin out at times in second half to maintain our clean sheet. Bob I hope you enjoyed watching the game from up high last night mate.
-
Getting up to nearer 3 figures at least 36 London saints on train.

Agree with much you say Phil. On Saturday as I was walking back to the pub, I felt like I'd just been to see someone on their last legs at Hospital. This club is slowly dying, poor performances on the pitch allied to ever plunging attendances is killing this club. I'ts catch 22 people will not come until results improve, but results will not improve unlee we bring in some new players on loan, but we can't bring in any new palyers because the attendances are so low and so we've got no money to pay for anymore players on loan. It's only the drink and social side of things before and after games that curently makes a matchday worthwhile. I just wonder what all the people who are not attending but are happy to complain about everything on this board will do with themselves when we go under. If people continue to desert this club as they are at the moment we have no future. One things for sure, the first people to complain when Adama Lallana is sold in January will be those who've stopped going to games. They don't seem to realise their non attendance is driving us closer and closer to relegation/administration or both. I'm not a Lowe supporter in anyway, but I love this club, and no matter what you think about Lowe, this club is far more important than that man. The club obviously needs to do more to attact the fans back, and some of Phil's ideas, regarding ticket offers above need to be implemented urgently, otherwise our record low home league attendance will continue to fall with every game. But each and every one on this board who's happy to complain about everything, should if possible, get off your ars*s and get down and support the club, they need you financially just as much as vocally, otherwise you'll soon have nothing left to complain about.

Absolutely right, Simon play very well in our early games, but he's now putting too many passes astray, culminating in last night when under no pressure with us palying the ball around the back four with ease he passed straight to an Ipswich player in centre circle; with no Saints player in sight, at the start of the move for their second goal. However he wasn't the only one at fault. For the last 20 mins last night the whole back four seemed incapable maikng a forward pass to anyone in a red and white shirt and if they did the midfield and Mcgoldrick in particular up front did there best to give it straight back to an Ipswich player.
-
Catch 22 mate if we don't get more bums on seats we will not have the money avaialble to get in decent players in on loan to improve the team, so even more people will desert the club and the level of attendaces and performances will drop even further.
-
It may indeed be a big ask, but at least in Tomas Pekhart we do appear to have someone who could be more ruthless, one half chance one goal, as opposed to Dyer one clear chance blasted over the bar.
-
I find it ironic that you are have been one of the main Pro-Lowe people on this board, yet it appears due our current postion you think things need to change, I dare say blamiong it all on the manager. We are playing the way we are with a young team due to Lowe, Poortvliet is trying to do the best he can with the resources or lack of resources he has at his disposal. But he is restricted in what he can do, especially as some players are apparately not playing because their wages are appearance related. However although I'm not a Lowe supporter, I feel we do not need to panic yet, we are playing some of the best football I've seen us play for years, we just need to tighten up the defence a bit and be more ruthless in attack IMO.

Sorry EFM didn't notice you'd repied with same answer already, would like to know who scored goals in 73/74 season though got a feeling that Ossie scored at lease one at the Dell and i'm certain that David Peach scored at Fratton that season and also scored in that 4-0 win too.
-
Mike Channon scored 4 goals agaist them in 1975/76 season alone. This included a hat trick at home and last minute winner at Fratton days after we won the semi final against Palace, which prompted the start of an almighty scrap at the Milton Lane end of Fratton park. Can't remember who scored the previous season when we beat them 2-1 both home and away

Mick was my first Saints Hero, just hope he's OK
