Hi everyone, currently on holiday in the USA, moving around a few places. In Boston tonight but due to leave for Montreal tomorrow morning, unless I can find it on in Boston somewhere, in which case I'll delay the trip until after the game. Anyone know of anywhere? Would be much appreciated!

That stint caused me to buy the entire new away kit with his name on the back for around £70, only for him to leave a week later. Ah, football.

Always found Shane Long to be one of those players I really didn't like watching, found him a bit of a diver and a bit of a pr*ck generally. But hey, he's our pr*ck now and maybe he's one of those 'hate him against you, love him for you' types. Welcome Shane, good luck to you and hopefully you can get everyone on side very quickly!

I could not have summarised it better myself, my exact thoughts on the stereotypical young English footballer. We've had our season of indulgence with young English players, they betrayed us just as easily as the foreign ones do. The novelty of being applauded for having Englishman has worn off for me, give me a foreigner with twice the capability for half the price.

Ability wise Kagawa p*sses all over Nani and Hernandez, wasted by United's insistence on deploying Rooney wherever he fancies that day and refusing to cater for the more creative players in their actual role. However I'd imagine you're focussing on the fact we already have plenty of midfielders, and we need a Nani or Hernandez type more, which would be a fair point. From what I gather Dortmund would take Kagawa back in a heartbeat so wouldn't be surprised to see him back there eventually, shame.

I absolutely despise Liverpool, but I really want Rickie to do well. As long as he doesn't let them down with a Gerrard style mistake then I think if he just scores once in front of the Kop then Rickie will be more than satisfied. I imagine he doesn't expect to go there and be the star of the show, but for him this isn't just another club, this is his club and I think just being on the bench there will be a dream for him.

Slightly underwhelmed but I think I just have that feeling with English players nowadays probably because of their overpricing and the national team's constant disappointment. Being on loan makes it less disappointing from the perspective of we won't be paying anything for him, but at the same time I WANT us to spend something! So it's a tough one. I wish him luck, difficult situation to come into but he's shown promise before. I know it's only a loan but is this proof that deals can still go under the radar? I don't recall anything being touted about this one? That could be encouraging that perhaps we could be close to other deals that we just don't know about. Hopefully, anyway.

Well whichever one started it clearly wasn't 'all in it together'. Being all in it together to me would've meant they all stay, not that they all go their separate ways.
-
Was the togetherness and morale as strong as we were led to believe afterall? Seems now that we were like any other team in that department. The understanding between players I agree will be difficult to lose though.
-
The only dying embers of hope I have left are that it'd be stupid to reveal any new signings until all the outgoings have been completed as new players would just be overshadowed by the latest player to leave. No on talks about Tadic or Pelle at the moment! Clear out all old players and leave the fans at rock bottom, then everything from then on until the start of the season will be positive and all transfer news will be incoming. I am clutching though...

Not pleased by this as I was really looking forward to him seeing the contrast between his and Lambert's reception. Oh well, guess it'll have to wait until St Mary's, if he decides to turn up...

I've been pretty optimistic about this season despite the departures but this one is most worrying due to the message it would appear to send out. I can understand the 'stars' leaving, but I don't know why but the selling of a squad player (albeit for decent money) just worries me that bit more. It just means the squad is getting thinner and thinner. Desperately need to hear some good news and a significant signing very soon! Please!
-
Would seem strange timing given the Debuchy signing as well as Arsenal trying to/having signed another backup RB.

I can't understand why people still say they're disappointed we couldn't 'match' QPR's offer for Caulker (if we were even interested in him at all). QPR have a higher wage bill than Borussia Dortmund and I for one am happy we aren't matching any of their offers if that is the case, they pay way over the odds. How else would they get Loic Remy and Julio Cesar in the same team? Whilst Caulker had a good season i'm certain there are better centre halves available for what QPR probably are paying him.

Dejan's first smile of pre-season

Xherdnan Shaqiri has come out and moaned at being labelled as 'one for the future' by Bayern and is looking for move apparently. Sure to be Liverpool if anywhere over here but worth dreaming about.

Initial TV game picks (Liverpool/Villa away, Man City home)

Was looking forward to seeing us turn over Liverpool at Anfield on the 16th. Now i'll miss the game because i will be on a plane on the 17th. Wonderful, thanks Sky. -
I was more getting at the fact that if you asked for someone to list Real Madrid or Germany's top players most would probably forget him off their list. But thanks for that...

All over twitter this morning that Sami Khedira has signed for Arsenal for £23million, and will be confirmed in the next few hours. Hopefully should end their interest in Schneiderlin. £23million for Khedira is a bargain by the way, top player, very underrated IMO.
-
I've wanted us to sign Honda for years! But it's always just been a pipe dream, I would shed tears of joy if this happened but I think it'll remain a dream.
-
It was the same with Matt Phillips. Redmond got a lot of media attention in the first few weeks of the season and even pushes for an England call up!! Many people see this and think he must be good, unfortunately it's just a case of most English players being overhyped at one time or another.
-
I was gutted when Lambert went, primarily for sentimental reason. I was impartial to Luke leaving, he's only been involved for two seasons, and I don't think we can justify £30mil worth of full back in our small squad. I was annoyed by Adam leaving for his behaviour but felt he was replaceable. However if Morgan were to leave I would genuinely be worried about this season, whereas I'm currently very optimistic. I think he's the sort of player we could build our team around and that may make it a lot easier for new signings to bed in. To me, Morgan is the core and everyone else is replaceable, and it would be a huge blow to lose such an important player. He's irreplaceable (realistically).
-
That's definitely how I've seen Redmond, flattering to deceive most of the time. Very 'English' winger in the sense that he lacks imagination and can be very predictable. Having said that I'd choose him over Tom Ince any day of the week, and he's still young so maybe he can be taught to add variety to his game. Wouldn't be disappointed if we didn't get him and £6mil as mentioned above would be about the limit for me.

Funnily enough i saw a clip of him on Soccer AM recently when he was clean shaven and he looked so much better. I love a good beard but his was unfortunately abysmal, much like his attitude it would seem.
