Saints U23s v Chelsea U23s. Tonight @ 7pm @ St. Mary's

Isgrove is Welsh, ha! -
Wouldn't it be more worth seeing if we can turn our international, former Barcelona, Juventus, wanted by AC Milan centre half who we acquired on a free transfer into a profit? If, as suggested, that is the motivation behind our team selections.

Could Wilshere be the CM that we need? I know he's not the most popular on here but it's easy to look a bit of a **** when you play for one of the big clubs. Has found his fitness at Bournemouth and i've always thought he came in for some harsh criticism over recent years and I believe he's the best CM that England have. He may lack size but more than makes up for it in technical ability.

Watching the highlights again, for almost every shot we have Gabbiadini is right in front of the goalkeeper incase he spills it, his anticipation is brilliant. A complete 'right place, right time' guy. Also, for anyone who only watches MOTD, I recommend the full highlights from the club, to see Gabbiadini skin their defender and almost score/setup a great goal, and also a piece of magic from Boufal that embarrasses Kaboul before he shoots into the side netting. On another note, has anyone noticed a link between Boufal shooting and falling over? From memory he fell over after both shots he's scored from this season, and he also did it with his shot that lead to Gabbi's goal this weekend. Not sure what my point is, but just can't help but notice it.

Some very good players in that squad, wish I could go myself! -
I found him very frustrating on the left earlier in the season (particular around late November/December) where I found he'd get to the penalty area and cut back onto his right with no real thought and then waste possession. He now seems to be coming inside a lot earlier, presenting himself with a lot more options. A huge improvement in the last month or so, as well as JWP.

West Ham, Sky love 'em, got to be seen as whiter than white.
-
I really don't think this even happened after the first couple of games?
-
I don't have any stats to back it up at that moment but I think you'll find it is worse than a lot of teams.

Sam Gallagher - Joins Blackburn: Official
saintwbu replied to Sergei Gotsmanov's topic in The Saints
That's two very experienced manager's in Mowbray and Coyle now that have publicly said Sam will make it at the top. Clearly Poch saw something too. Really hoping for the lad after all he's been through, that he can make it here. -
Maybe Hojbjerg can put in a good word for us, both played at Danish youth level so probably know each other
-
I agree, many of JWP's criticisms are based are round his physical attributes, which Clasie doesn't offer anything more in terms of. But Clasie doesn't have the final ball that JWP (sometimes) offers.
-
His addition has convinced me further of what I have personally felt all season, us being 'boring' is because we don't put it in the net, not down to the style of football we play. The style of football in the last two games has been the same, but it becomes a hell of a lot more attractive when we score at the end of it! I'm on board with the idea of not getting too carried away though, Amr Zaki, Michu, Cisse as mentioned above, all have burst onto the scene too. But his intelligence off the ball is what gives me hope that we are not seeing a temporary purple patch, and also the fact that he hasn't come from nowhere, he's played for some top clubs already.
-
Yeah they were, but I guess as we are actually in Europe ourselves it kind of doesn't work! (not that I, or most people would be bothered) But if we are being accurate the Naples is better.
-
Was thinking after I saw the video that it needed another verse, and came up with pretty much the same! Seems ideal and easy to remember.

For anybody that uses Snapchat, Saints' official one managed to catch the second Gabbiadini goal as it went in from within the bottom tier, if anyone knows how to save that (I don't!) then that'd be some quite good footage to share. Be quick though it'll expire in about 30 minutes!
-
I will never forget 30,000 saints fans swinging the scarf the club gave to everybody round their heads when Gabbiadini scored that fantastic goal. Amazing sight, and having watched it back it looks equally amazing on TV. Proud day, win or lose.
-
Absolutely. Just a whiner, rolls around and screams at the first opportunity. Complete and utter ****.

Amazing day until the 86th minute. I go into games against big teams expecting to miss out on the big decisions, but the most frustrating thing is the fans of those teams thinking we just blame everything on officials, because they don't support a 'small team' so they just do not understand. One of the biggest positives from today was watching the game back on Sky and hearing Martin Tyler actually criticise United for surrounding the ref and rolling around to get Stephens and Romeu sent off. I just wish we would ****ing do it. If United had have had that goal disallowed (which they wouldn't have), then they would have screamed at the referee which would in turn see him go and consult his assistant, which in turn may have seen them conclude that actually the player who scored wasn't offside. Instead we look perplexed briefly and they carry on as if nothing happened. Likewise with Lingard cynically tripping Redmond when already on a yellow. Herrera would've flown throughout the air like Tom Daley and every player in red would've been in the ref's face until he has no option but to send the player off. It's a horrible part of the game, but it exists, and we need to ****ing get involved or we just lose out. Wanyama being sent off vs. West Ham last year, Noble & his gang hounding ****tenburg when Vic didn't even play the man - red card. Later in the game, Byram flies through one of our lot, off the floor and studs showing, no reaction from our players - yellow card. So frustrating, i'm sick of being the nice guys because we don't benefit in any way whatsoever. But I love my club, what a show.
-
It's been the cup run of the unlikely hero (Hesketh, Boufal, Clasie all scoring their first goal, Yoshida and Stephens keeping a clean sheet and Sims setting up the winner at Anfield). I would love nothing more than an unlikely hero in 16 hours time, JWP would be my bet.
-
Choosing between a young lad who's barely played and one of the best centre forwards of the last 20 years is not the same as deciding between two average CM's and CB's.
-
JWP has definitely earned his start in this, plus now Carrick is fit he will play so it won't be an all energy midfield from United, so he won't necessarily be exposed on that front. We can't afford to waste possession too much in this game, so Hojbjerg shouldn't feature from the start for me, and as much as I love him, Boufal would probably be on the bench for me too because as great as he is, he will give the ball away a fair few times because that's the nature of that kind of player. Boufal or Tadic, not both. I'm so excited.
-
This didn't happen. I don't remember ever watching Mane and thinking he was putting in anything less than 100%. His form may have struggled, but his effort did not. Wanyama, there's a case to be made, but even then I don't particularly agree.
