  1. The last left field appointment who came in after a 2-2 draw against one of the big 6 didn’t work out too badly
  2. Surely if it is him, we have a DoF involved somewhere along the line? Where would we expect a left-field name like this to come from otherwise?
  3. Presumably a lot of the price fluctuation is down to Wilson name dropping Hussenhuttl, can’t decide whether to add more on Flores now he is drifting out!
  4. He seemed to. And then I always find that most of what Wilson writes in terms of who we’re buying or appointing normally never happens despite his closeness to the club. So is this the case here?
  5. Jeremy Wilson article saying Ralph Hussenhuttl is preferred choice..

    Hughes OUT

Sanchez Flores did a great job at Watford in their first season in the Prem, were sitting around 8th at one point, but was sacked for taking his foot off the pedal once they were safe. He’s more than welcome to take his foot off the pedal once we’re safe here.
  7. Yeah I agree, just like when he turned up against Leicester's second string on Tuesday night in front of half a stadium, only turns up for the big games!!! Our best player, and normally shows it in every game he plays.
  8. I have no problem with Long either, I completely understand why he gets game time and I think it's more a reflection of how bad our recruitment has been that he can still be vital for us at times. His pace is a huge asset, even if his technical ability can sometimes be a limitation. Again, he leaves everything out on the pitch so I appreciate his effort for the team.
  9. End product or no end product, I feel he leaves everything out on the pitch and is trying his utmost to create something, and for me that's all I ask. I was a huge critic last season I thought he was a waste of a place, and that he bottled it every time he had a chance to do something. This season he's picking the ball up, driving at defence's and driving the team forward with him, he looks a completely different player. The end product will come, and I'm really pleased for him that he's getting a lot of plaudits from most fans. Long may it continue and hopefully the results follow.
  10. Rom & Davis in as above, and Bertrand if he's fit for Cedric, Ings or Gabbi for Obafemi (sadly). Go again. A bit defeatist but I would rather Hoj and Lemina were suspended for this game and had a rest for Cardiff, than picking up yellows in the Spurs game and missing that one. Set up tight, see what happens.
  11. I agree, atmosphere at St Mary's has been absolutely ****e since we weren't winning every week, if I was a Saints player I would absolutely hate to play at home. Every missed place pass results in 20,000 odd groans. ****ing support the team and then you can complain if they don't repay your support.
  12. Presumably all the people moaning about the line-up weren't paying attention to the Leicester game on Tuesday, and just came on here to moan about us losing yet again (on penalties I would add). This is as close to the team that played the last game as is possible, and they played well, therefore they deserve to start this game. That's how most people would want the team to be picked, can't understand why people are complaining about it. For the first time in ages I'm semi-optimistic about our performance coming up. Get a grip.
  13. Yeah what a surprise, after a top performance in front of 90,000 at Wembley we struggled to get going again in our remaining meaningless league games. #PuelOut

    Hughes OUT

There was a whole article about Tadic, JWP and others saying he’d wrecked their confidence
  15. And most deemed that to be not good enough and the manager was sacked!!!! Absolute madness at the time, and even more so in hindsight.
  16. The best bit about the officials last night for me was Lemina (i think) fouling their defender practically on the goal line, and Leicester taking the free kick to the left of the edge of the penalty area. The whole Saints end was roaring at the linesman and he seemed completely torn between flagging the ref and just pretending nothing was happening. Naturally, like 99% of the officials at this level, he completely ****ing bottled it and just ran off. ****s.
  17. Would not be adverse to this
  18. I get what you mean, but as I said, this was a team largely made up of players that haven’t played much this season so I felt for them that their attempt to make a case for being regular was hindered but some bad luck. For me that team is pretty close to what should next game,, they’ve earned it.

  20. We all knew it hit his hand, I said to the guy next to me as soon as the ref touched his ear we knew it was for the hand. In my opinion if your hand changes the direction of the ball or gains a clear advantage, it should be handball. But that’s not the rule, it has to be ‘deliberate’ and that was about as far from deliberate as you can get, someone smashed it up into him. The rule can’t be changed to fit the scenario, because we scored it’s contentious so rule it out. It’s like we were punished for our moaning for VAR last time out.
  21. Actually felt for the lads tonight, some young guys and guys with little playing time out there tonight, and I don't feel like they could've done much more. They seemed genuinely surprised by the positive reaction from our end after the penalties, stood there and took it in for longer than I expected. Thought Vestegaard was good at what he had to do, distribution very good, not massively tested but then I see that as a reflection of our defensive organisation as a whole. Wing backs were unspectacular, but I'll absolutely take that, they never looked troubled and that's what I want from a full back, huge disappointment to see Cedric have to come on for Targett. Lemina brilliant as per, some of the stuff he does is effortless. Classic Hojbjerg, lots of effort and passion, little quality, Targett made a great run in the second half which needed a simple through ball down the left wing and everyone in the ground but Hoj could see it, sadly. That is symptomatic of our problems the last couple of seasons for me, just delayed passes and people on different wave lengths slowing us down all the time. Armstrong and Redmond both hard working and lively, only a few moments of quality between them but decent performances from both. Obafemi worked hard and was a great outlet, definitely something we've been missing, missed a sitter but it looked like he panicked and overthought what he had to do. I liked his presence and I hope he starts the next game to be honest, he chases lost causes which is something we're desperate for and is why Long gets games despite his obvious shortcomings, because no one else can do it until now. Overall very unlucky, and the irony of us being harshly refused a goal by VAR when we've had so many high profile incidents where VAR would've saved us recently was painful. But a massive shoutout to the 1500 or so of us that made it up there tonight and actually supported, rather than just watched, the team. I do actually think Austin had a point the other day when he tweeted about us getting behind the team, it's more of a problem at St. Mary's than away but sometimes we are quick to turn and whilst we have plenty of justification in doing so at times, it can't help performances. Tonight we were behind them from the off, and I've no doubt having a few youngsters on the pitch played a part in this, I didn't hear anyone groan when Valery or Obafemi chose the wrong option and went backwards - It seems so simple to me that if you're a manager under pressure, include a couple of youngsters to get a buzz back in the crowd, but manager's seem so reluctant to do so.

    Cedric

Absolutely can’t stand him, terrible, terrible player. If anyone says ‘who would we get that’s better than him’ and means it i’ll shoot myself. Been a huge part of our struggles the last two seasons.
  23. Yeah I agree completely, I wouldn’t question his inclusion in the side at all, but when he is bad he is really, really bad. The first half today was almost Inter Milan at home levels of painful to watch. But I can’t fault his effort and I know next game he’ll probably be better and is definitely worth his place. But people need to see beyond his good interviews and he needs to work on his concentration in games.
  24. Anyone giving Hojbjerg more than a 3 must not have been at the game, he was absolutely ****ing dreadful. Other than, we were pretty good I thought, Gabbi was absolutely brilliant, but no luck and poor officiating, same old.
  25. Is it not equally likely that this jeopardises Hughes’ future given his friendship with Reed? Sacking Reed removes presumably a significant portion of Hughes’ support amongst the board.
