One of the reasons Ings struggled earlier in his Saints career imo was his tendency to drop deep to get the ball. Adams has done this job really well in the first 4 games of the season, leaving Ings free to do what he was doing best last year, get on the shoulder and find space where he can. I think Adams has been getting better every week since his goal against City, I really like him. He doesn’t need to get 20 goals a season, nor is he going to, if Ings can do that bit then Adams can do the graft and hopefully chip in with 8 or so, that’d be a hell of a partnership for a club of our standing.

Really enjoyed that because it’s not something we do very often - win ugly. Romeu MOM for me, played like he was after lockdown, think the early yellow card killed him last week and him being subbed made us collapse.
-
Romeu our best player tonight
-
He was a goal away from that probably being the best i’ve seen him play for us yesterday. I thought first half he was our best player, held it up brilliantly, played some great passes and got into good positions. Really glad that he seems to be finding his feet, he’s forced a few great saves this season, the goals will follow soon.

We fell apart when Romeu went off by the way..

Really? I was even more wound up thinking Bertrand had got booked which was for absolutely nothing, then it flashed up saying it was JWP which was slightly less ridiculous. Are you sure?

On the plus side Che Adams looking absolutely superb, Ings sharp, Djenepo dangerous.

That was the effect of having both CM’s on yellows, Ward Prowse would’ve hauled down N’Dombele any other game, but ref gave him a shit yellow. McCarthy poor for that goal.

🙁 I took that as a hint

Chalobah’s appeal passed years ago - reputation was over inflated big time, had never done anything at senior level but always got lauded. Not good enough.
-
Get him in if we can - he’s struggled with injuries but also hard if you can’t get regular game time, to get back up to fitness before your next injury. Great player, and 100% exactly the type of player we’re crying out for. Physical, quick, but has the skill to burst past a few players when we’re struggling to break a stubborn defence down.

The Sunday Times - Southampton put up for sale at £250m

Always a bit nervy at the idea of new ownership tbh. Gao isn’t a Venky’s, or an Allam, if he left tomorrow i think it’d be hard to say he did much (if anything) wrong in his time here. Yes, he’s not the owner we’d all love, but he also doesn’t seem to be a total basket case either. Be careful what you wish for and all that, I guess. -
I know, that’s what I was pointing out to people who have as always taken what was said (by Le Tiss in this instance) completely out of context when explaining it to others. It was pretty clear to me that he was saying ‘just because it’s the law, doesn’t make it right’, but I don’t have a particular axe to grind or particular political leaning, so I tend to take things as I see them, rather than the way that suits my agenda. Like when Corbyn said ‘Osama Bin Laden’s death was a tragedy because he wasn’t tried in a court of law and held accountable for his crimes’ - naturally the headlines lead with ‘Corbyn thinks Bin Laden’s death was a tragedy’ and most don’t read past the headline so it suited them perfectly.
-
He retweeted an image regarding Anne Frank, pointing out that just because something is ‘the law’ doesn’t mean it’s right (essentially saying those sheltering her were breaking the law, whilst those trying to capture her were obeying it). But that was a few days ago, so I think now he’s an anti-semitic holocaust denier, if i’m following things correctly.

I guess the first initial comparisons of this tactic would be to see what has become of two of their staple Sunday morning shows that have seen male presenters replaced with female presenters. Sunday Supplement and Goals on Sunday have both been on for more than a decade, and within one season of ‘change’ have both now been cancelled..

Broadcasters will eventually realise that the crowds they are pandering to, often don’t actually watch what they’re complaining about anyway. Think the BBC are cottoning on slowly.
-
Tiss already alluded to people contacting his employer trying to get him sacked because of his Twitter posts. Imagine waking up in the morning and thinking ‘that guy on the internet has a different opinion to me so i’m going to try and get him sacked’. Fucking weirdos everywhere.

They were leading to it all last season, every week one was missing, replaced by a newbie. People don’t watch it for the quality of analysis, they watch it because of the chemistry and the humour - if people just wanted score updates they’d watch football focus or just check their phone. It’s a shame, completely expected, but a shame. I like all the ‘why do you care, it’s only a tv program, who cares’ brigade when people find this stuff irritating - all the while we have days of coverage about song lyrics, ways of addressing people, and statues.

Presumably they didn’t insist given that many players did go and posted about it on social media, as did the club. However if my employer advised me not to, and I went, and then left myself unable to work for two weeks because of it then i’d expect them to be pretty pissed off - especially if I was a contracted, high value asset.

Redmond had been in France, they’ve had a quarantine period put in haven’t they? Bednarek has been away somewhere sunny but not sure where

One of the most disappointing transfers in recent years simply because of what a great footballer he is really. Palace away in his first season he looked like a top midfielder, that would be gone to a top club by the end of the year. Such a shame we couldn’t have found that consistently because he would take us to another level, but clearly there’s something about him that just holds him back from finding that level on a regular basis.

Interesting the Cavani comparison - just looked and Nunez is about 6’2. Links to Chris Wood yesterday (probably false) but wasn’t it said Ralph’s style normally incorporates a big CF for players to play off. Poulsen at Leipzig springs to mind. These links to big CF’s may not be a coincidence...
