Salisu and ABK are comfortably the best defenders we have from what i’ve seen, ABK at his best is our best without a doubt imo. Salisu is just so, so bad on the ball and the worrying thing is i’d say he actually seems to be getting worse!

Yeah absolutely, but that’s why it seems weird that anyone would be bidding above the release clause - once the clause is met, it’s then entirely down to the player whether he wants to move or not. The only reason I could think for this is mentioned above, maybe neither club wants to pay in full and therefore are willing to bid above the clause instead so they can pay it via instalments.

I think that’s exactly how it works - that’s why Barcelona couldn’t stop Neymar leaving to PSG. Normally release clauses are set at ridiculously high levels for this reason, otherwise the club are completely powerless. My guess would be €30mil was seen as that whenever Vitinha signed his latest contract, given he’s only 22.

Why would a club need to pay over the release clause? The player doesn’t get that money so not sure why it would be a factor

Maybe he just doesn’t rate Perraud and Bree will allow a better crack at 3 CB’s with 2 wing backs. Albeit that would be a shame as the midfield trio and a front 3 feels like our best chance.

Assumed James Bree would be tall, given our focus on adding height and the fact we seem to be playing CB’s at full back to negate that issue. Turns out he’s only 5’8…

Thinking about how good Alcaraz was last night is actually irritating me even more. It’s another signing that looks like a good addition, along with Lavia, Bella Kotchap, DCC, Edozie. We’ve made some really good signings since the summer. So why have we not been able to do it in the most important position for us ffs!!

Was good to see Kingsland kicking off last night it looked, might send a message to the club if fights are breaking out beyond the Itchen North area they love to persecute. If the average nice fan in other areas of the ground are seeing fights in the home end around them i’m sure the club will soon hear about it, and might finally do something about it. The away end setting off a flare was just laughable, couldn’t see a steward walking in to find the culprit. I’m surprised we’re not giving them to fans on the turnstiles as they go in to help them create atmosphere - i’m sure Virgin Media would’ve done if they were still a sponsor!

I don’t know why this ‘Jones plays 5 at the back’ and ‘long ball rubbish’ stuff is sticking around - last night we played 4 at the back all game, we played one defensive midfielder in Diallo, and we played a front three. The only time the ball went long was Lyanco sometimes trying an aerial ball when out of options. People can’t judge games on their own merit, every loss seems to result in people just replaying the Forest game in their head and thinking that’s what we’ve just watched.

If someone showed you a video of Diallo’s ball winning last night only, you’d have thought he was the best CDM in the league, it was superb. But he still gave the ball so often, which is why some won’t have seen him as having a good game. If he could be more decisive on the ball, he’d be a great asset to us. He has always shown glimpses of being a real good player.

Not sure I buy anything about wanting first team football if Man City are a potential suitor, unless he thinks going to City means we’ll spend £10mil on him and chuck him straight in the first team.

Spurs did Willian’s medical before he went and signed for Chelsea, if I remember rightly.

Equally if he suddenly starts any of the cup games then it’s not a great example to set to others - holding the club to ransom as a 17 year old essentially

Bazunu Lyanco DCC Salisu KWP Lavia JWP Alcaraz/Diallo Edozie Mara Orsic Probably what i’d be hoping for. Not sure Che will be much use up against the land of the giants, would rather go at them with some pace and running, and keep the ball on the ground as much as possible. Orsic against Trippier probably best, and Edozie’s trickery against Burn on the other side.

Equally maybe after the weekend they’ve decided they’ll up the budget/requirements when it comes to a new addition in that area and now think we need better than Jackson. We don’t have another league game until the window has closed, so whilst we’re all frustrated we haven’t had the additions for the last few games, there’s no point getting more frustrated now until the window closes and we see how everything looks.
