  1. I guarantee you will not find me another example of a penalty given in England where two players are having an altercation nowhere near the ball, whilst the ball is in the goalkeepers arms, and one of those players gets a penalty.
  2. I get the desire to pin all blame on the players (rightly so) after that absolute shit show. But we just saw probably the worst penalty decision you’ll ever seen, and you will never see one like it again. The ref is lucky no one cares about us, including our own fans, because that would be getting major heat if it was someone else.
  3. Pretty mad that despite being as shit as we are, we’re now able to field an almost complete second string of senior players including most of the bench. So used to being about two injuries away from filling our bench with kids for important league games.

Personally I think Leeds just wanted a manager in place before our game due to the criticism the board was getting. I can’t believe for a second that when Marsch was sacked they would’ve wanted Gracia to replace him. He does have a decent track record though, so not saying it’s a bad appointment, but definitely feels like a ‘he’ll do’ type situation.
  6. Always thought it was a bit odd that he never really played CB - always he did okay when he arrived even out of position at full back.

It’s a lot easier to be accepted after Jones than it would’ve been after Ralph. He’s picked up the team at its lowest possible ebb really, and he’s just what the fans have needed whether he’s capable in the long run or not.
  8. I agree on the lesser teams having an iconic figure. I often think how lucky Palace are to have a player the level of Zaha having played for them so long and delivering at such a high level. Whilst extremely different players, JWP is becoming our Zaha in that sense. Would love him to retire with all sorts of Saints records, one of the biggest disappointments of going down would be the likelihood of him departing.

I’m really hoping we’ve found the answer. As mentioned above he’s extremely likeable, he’s brought an optimism to the fanbase overnight, it would be a great story if he really does have what it takes. Also would be a nice sprinkling of irony if the manager who can get a tune out of our inexperienced team is the one with no managerial experience!
  10. Chelsea got a concussion sub to replace Azpilicueta, and when that happens the opponent also get an extra substitute.
  11. Glad you’re not our manager
  12. Bazunu KWP ABK Salisu Perraud Lavia JWP Stu Sulemana Adams Onuachu Possible argument that Adams and Tall Paul will be wanting to similar things, but I think having two that can hold it up a bit will allow the other to get in the box more and hopefully we could see some crosses into Paul. Would have no problems with Adams dropping out and Sulemana going up top with possibly Alcaraz being the other 10.
  13. Would you want him over JWP or Lavia? I know I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t take him over Romeu either (the version from a season or two back). He’s doing a very simple job well, for Spurs.
  14. Personally I think the moment talks with Marsch collapsed it was Selles until the end of the season at least. They clearly wanted a move back towards Ralph’s style, and the ‘playbook’ that has been implemented throughout the club. They may have had doubts over whether Selles was quite ready yet, or perhaps wanted him to be Marsch’s successor at the end of his short term deal. I haven’t seen a single other name linked by anyone remotely reputable since Marsch was ruled out, I agree on no rush for Selles to be given the full time job officially but personally I don’t think we’re getting another manager in this season regardless of what happens.
  15. I can’t remember the game but despite what that screenshot says it looks more like a 3/5 at the back to me, which was obviously NJ’s intentions so benefit of the doubt to Selles that he was putting out a team that might reflect what the new manager would be looking to do.
  16. Didn’t do much for Everton against Liverpool, they were back to looking soft as shit
  17. I had never heard this ‘your football is shit’ chant until our fans sung it at Palace. Is this new? Have Saints fans finally come up with an original chant?
  18. I’d rather Selles than Gerrard/Lampard/Rooney. In fact i’d rather let the players just manage themselves than any of those three.
  19. I wasn’t desperate for Marsch but I was desperate to never see 5 at the back ever again. Oh well, was fun whilst it lasted.
  20. I think if you’d have told fans back when Selles joined the club that he’d be in charge at some point it probably wouldn’t have surprised many, just not sure 2 sackings and a break down of talks would’ve been expected before it happened.
  21. I’d be more gobsmacked if Tino in particular isn’t still here, given the fee we would command i’m not sure many will be touching an 18 year old who’s been out for a year with an ACL. Edozie, Bazunu and a few others could definitely do with a season in the Championship. There is also always a few players that stick around you don’t expect, Bournemouth kept Lerma the season they went down - not many clubs have a complete exodus anymore like the old days.
  22. We aren’t attractive to many right now largely because managers won’t want a relegation on their CV, regardless of what league it’s from. I guarantee we’re more attractive for a promotion push to the Premier League with a decent squad and strong backing.
  23. I’m not sure Marsch having a short term contract would make it any less important for him - i’d say his Premier League career depends on him doing a good job with us, and i’d suggest that’s why he’s willing to come here so soon. If he didn’t pick up another job in the PL soon he probably never does, and if he flops with us then i’d suggest he won’t be getting another one.
  24. Hughes’ main aim was to keep us up, and he achieved it. That allowed us to attract Ralph the following season. If there’s a similar outcome from this appointment then that’s fine by me.
