The thing i would like to know is whether the players are overachieving, or performing at their current ability. I keep seeing us being referred to as this incredible side who are getting the best out of their players and then some. But are we? After all these games played, could or should us the fans really now believe that this is exactly where we belong? Should we stop singing songs about staying up even though its tongue-in-cheek? Heard a few Saints fans on the phone-ins last night and they were all very cautious as was Fonte and Koeman. I have been reluctant to get to excited as i've followed Saints for 25 years and no success is normally always followed by failure... But maybe those days have now gone?

Since the Premier League was a 20 team league,73 points has been the maximum needed to gain 4th. So you would probably think 10 more wins from 16 remaining should be enough... Certainly if 2 of those wins are vs Spurs and Liverpool...

I reckon if we were to get in the Champions League then he will sign a new contract and give us one more year. Sure he'll be rewarded well and i do think he'd like to complete his Southampton story with Europe before moving on. The new contract would probably have a minimum clause and double the money.....Seen it happen before

GK RB CB RW ST He obviously feels that we need a back up to Clyne but i cannot see us spending so much on Byram after selling Chambers for £12m. CB is an essential position needing filled so would the winger and striker be seen as non-essential due to the budget? or possibly loans?

Going to be fascinating to see what happens in the last weeks of the window.Certainly not unhappy about bringing in quality players on loan with a view to buy like Bertrand,Taider and possibly Hernandez (unlikely). Do start fearing the worst if we bring in some of the others mentioned though. We NEED players on a permanent basis and have the money to do this.I trust the board unlike some and hope they keep to their word about using at least a fair amount of the money to improve the team. Players like Redmond seem ideal at a good price,yet the link with Campagnaro and the other fella from Inter just makes me concerned...

Agree to a point.Especially with regards the first team though i think we maybe stronger in certain positions with the right signings. In terms of squad depth though,i genuinely think we will be stronger (again transfer dependant). Add the fact that players like J-W-P,Clyne and Wanyama should be better than last season through experience and i have hope where there was very little.

Well we know he wants a CB and a ST. We also know about Forster. And then theres the probability of the lad from Inter coming in who is a CM! So i think the one to hope for this weekend are a winger as that would be a bonus . Are we also assuming that we aren't looking at a back up RB? We could have one hell of a squad come "Judgement Day".
