Sulemana off. Shame that. Thought he would stay..
-
Nobody is disputing this. Fact is the level has dropped now we’re in the championship and Bree who was a standout in that league will be decent enough for us. Everyone has a price and fair play to the club for holding out for the fee they deemed fair. Don’t get me wrong, wanted to keep Tino but not the most important player we keep. Someone such as Alcarez is much more important

Is there any actual truth in the Mason Holgate rumour?
-
It’s not happening. Off to Braga. Think it would have been good for the squad to have a leader like that, oh well!
-
I don't know anything else, I don't know why / where so don't want to speculate. Just passing on what I've heard but as I said, I'd like to be proved wrong. I'm sure he loves the club but wants to be playing in the PL. He could give us a year but then if we don't go up he'll be the best part of 30 years old and perhaps he's worried / advised that would make a move more complicated. Best to secure a move now and for my money, it stinks of West Ham.
-
Sorry, didn't mean to submit so quickly. I thought (hoped) last week that he would stay but I'm now led to believe that he is going - not a confirmed destination but he will be leaving and won't be a Saints player next season. I would of course LOVE to be proved wrong.

I know, I am now.

I agree with you, I think the club has to sell to buy but the mistake we've made in the past is letting every man, woman and child know that. Saying this is what it is (price wise) will work if we let on there is some room for negotiation, it doesn't work if we're completely steadfast in our approach and buying clubs move on to other targets. That being said, if it means we ended up on Sept 2nd with a few extra players in the JWP / KWP camp then perhaps it works out. "Sorry lads, we were keen to sell but the money wasn't right, get your heads down and we can relook at this in Jan"
-
I absolutely think JWP will be going - he wants to play PL football, can't blame him. According to Blackmore with the old board he was told he could leave if so called big clubs come in for him and is prepared to pay our valuation. If the rumours of Fulham etc are true and the figure is circa £25m. Do we still cash in or as club do they decide to say it doesn't matter what the old board said, you've X amount of years on your contract, we're keeping you. Or do you think it all depends on who else we've managed to shift? I think as a PR story - *if* somehow JWP is playing for Southampton next season then it'll filter that positivity throughout the club and fanbase that he has 'bought into the new manager and long term strategy' (We'd obviously all know that it's because nobody came in for him but we'll gloss over that)

I was reliably informed it should be today. However I'm not personally ITK.
-
This isn’t classic.
-
According to Alan Nixon we only want £15m for Tella.. seems low?
-
I think it would be madness to let him go.. Proven he can perform to a high standard in this division. He's our player, why let him go? If Martin can assure him of game time then I think he'd accept that decision. He seems like a good kid.
-
Leicester pushing for Potter... Would be a bit annoying if that happens as it shows that it could have been possible here. Classic.
-
Daily Echo piece…. Not impressive (the content I mean, Alfie is great) saying they accept responsibility but really blaming everyone / everything else. Not positive.
-
Not claiming to be ITK but I have been told by someone who has a connection with the club that we are *not* looking at Carrick. Seen as though it would be difficult to tempt him to move down from where he's from, he's bedded in and would be seen as a sideways step. They don't want to waste time on a protracted job offer situation - which for once sounds like they're making the right call. We need to get going asap, give the new manager as much time as possible to sort through the mess.
-
I'm not overly excited by this appointment but if it was between this and Tony Mowbray then I'm team Russell. I can't imagine Mowbray getting the young lads firing. I can't believe that we're between these two. How depressing.
-
I wouldn't be happy with this appointment, I don't think PV is the man for the job. When he was sacked by Palace there was talk of him and his coaching staff not running a tight ship and being late to training etc. From what we've heard re the goings on at Southampton we need someone who is going to be a task master whilst also being an arm around the shoulder guy for the youngsters. Also, PV doesn't have a great record in Europe and for those saying we should lower our expectations, we're not asking for Klopp, we'd just like someone who has got a better win percentage in the PL of 29%. Speaking for myself, I'm not asking for a massive name, I want someone that has experience in bringing together a group of lads and has a clear set of beliefs. (Don't make NJ jokes I beg).
-
I'm going to eat my words probably BUT I think they *will* get this next managerial appointment right - it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how badly they've got all the big calls wrong since coming in. Tried to be too clever, tried to cut corners perhaps but ultimately it doesn't matter the reasons for any of it, the point is, they fucked it and big time. The cost of relegation is massive but could be mitigated with an early promotion back to the PL in a season or two. For that reason alone and with Dragan's money on the line I think they will be sensible and get a proven name in the dugout. I think they'll try everything to get the likes of Potter - huge promotion bonuses etc. For them, PR is everything right now - if they can lure a proven PL manager to the Championship on the promise of what's to come then it'll only help in keeping some potentially wantaway players / unsure incoming targets. Or am I talking bollocks? Are they going to try and "lure" Paul Jewell out of retirement?
-
Don't suppose anyone know's of a couple of tickets going for this?
-
Bit of a nervous wreck today.. Really feel tonight could be a massive turning point in the season.. Get a positive result tonight and then there is less pressure on the Spurs game.. We're so brittle in our mentality that it seems that the moment a bit of pressure emerges we fall to pieces. The relative up lift in performances / results since Selles came in seems to have eased the fear a tad.. A bad result tonight and I think it really is goodnight Vienna (I'm pretty confident it already is but you know.. always hope etc.)

PR disaster after PR disaster. Perhaps Rasmus should attend a Ted Talk on communications strategy. Regardless of whether I wanted JM, the fact remains, there was some press briefing indicating the club were pretty damn sure the deal was effectively done. For it tall fall apart at the eleventh hour due to something as crucial as length of contract meant that once again Ankersen and co had royally fucked up again. It's like spending your winnings only to find out your horse didn't finish. Ankersen thought he had the power but of course he didn't, it was always with Marsch. Ankersen thinks he's something special and I've some stark news for him. Honestly, what have we become? Shining a light on the mismanagement is only further removing us from any position of power. Every man, woman and child now knows the situation we find ourselves in and any potential new manager is going to demand more and we'll have to acquiesce or we'll find ourselves with Selles until the end of the season. Which they'll spin as their first choice. Sick to death of it. Bollocks, the lot of it.
