I've mentioned this before, but I have a good friend with a strong contact at the club. My mate recently asked this contact whether the situation is as bleak as it’s being portrayed—like us missing out on everyone. The response was to ignore the noise. While we’re not going to be signing any superstars, we will be in a much better position in a few weeks. It’s just a matter of patience. I know this isn't breaking news, but I thought it was worth sharing.

The more I hear the more I think it's increasingly unlikely we get O'Riley - he's going to go for around £21.5m (circa €25m) and I just don't think we have that to spend on one player. Even if we sell everyone we want, I think that's most likely the total budget remaining. We know we need to strengthen in multiple areas so alas I think it'll be the return of the black box and bringing in players such as Wellington. Of course, this is just my opinion but I just can't see it.

Here is what I think will happen, we will make a handful of signings and there will be a series of players going out the door. However, will we end up with who we're being linked with now? No. It'll be options B, C and D. Will it be the club's fault? No, not really. If it was as simple as paying the money then yes it would be their fault but people fail to take into account the player / agent's desires. Why sign for Southampton now if perhaps an Aston Villa, Sevilla or AC Milan comes knocking later in the window if their first choices fall through? We just have to accept this is where we are in the pecking order. Also, if you want some reassurance that the market is fucked, West Ham spending £27m + add ons for a 31 year old is insane especially when you factor in they've given him a four year contract.

A very good friend of mine is mates with someone who works high up at the club. My pal asked him how the transfers were going? The response was, "Ha, which one mate? It's fucking mental, so so many deals on the go" I know the angry lot of you will reply and say "Transfer window is busy - shocker" but I'm just posting because some people on here saying our squad is barely better than last season's championship team. Well, clearly the club knows this and are doing their utmost to bring in (and shift out) talent. I have full confidence that the team will be looking a lot stronger come the end of the window - we're in safe hands 👀
