  1. KD saved a penalty and the initial shot for the second goal. The defenders failed to react as quickly as the Norwich strikers. I dont think you can blame the keeper. Lloyd James, as posted previously - not a fan- gives his opposite number too much space and doesnt get a foot in.Hopefully Murty will be fully fit soon.
  2. I'm surprised so many people think James puts in a good cross when they are so often from the half way line. Maybe they have never played up front. A forward cannot attack a ball sent in from behind them at 45 degrees and get any power on it, you can only flick it on. Simple maths really, crosses are best from the line of the penalty box onwards and ideally from near the by-line. Then you can see them and meet them. QED
  3. I think we missed chances at crucial times, a defensive midfielder and a right back today . Hammond and Lallana missed chances at crucial times. There was nobody covering the centre backs when we attacked and we got badly stretched at times. I would like to see Lloyd James play right of midfield and get crosses in from further up the pitch. Get bored with him backing off all the time at right back, but he's clearly a good attacking player. Onwards and upwards. COYR
  4. I think the Luton fans gave him what he deserved at last years JPT final. This years final is 28 Marchand according to the BBC website he steps down on 15 March so no fun there, then should our Wembley dream come true !
  5. Rory, they cant break our Wembley hearts as they are a Southern Area club.
  6. Not wishing to be an JPT nerd but try http://www.johnstonespainttrophy.com/key-dates/
  7. Never thought I'd get excited about the JPT but find myself checking out the other 3 Southern Area teams: Hereford, Norwich or MK Dons. Any of the above at home will do!
  8. COYR, a major opponent out, the 28 March Wembley dream is still alive !
  9. Fantastic ! COY Super R
  10. Deschamps was the 'water carrier', not sure Wotton fits that description,
  11. Saints system described as 4-5-1 is when the team defends as attacking it is more like a 4-3-3 with the wide midfield players getting forward. As long as the players know their responsibilities and win their personal battles then the system is almost irrelevant as players migrate around the pitch during a game, overlapping, doubling up or chasing in 'packs', unlike say table football where players positions are fixed (!)
  12. Murty will have to find his way back via the bench but I stand by my thread starter a few weeks ago -Murty every time as LJ always gives his man too much space to work in at full back.
  13. That's what I was thinking Mr Mash.
  14. Cant let that one slip under the radar. AFC Wimbledon are at Crawley Town in the last qualifying round of the FA Cup on Saturday. The Milton Keynes franchise team are at St Marys.
  15. Great result, Saints at last have turned that corner. COYR
  16. A statement of intent from AP, signing a youngster on loan when he has already stated he has too much dross on the books? Time for some to be shipped out, to whatever level they should be playing at.
  17. According to the BBC website AP is looking for a striker on loan. May be a bit of a struggle to find anyone better available / willing to join with the blessing of his club, than what we already have before January.
  18. Totally agree Nick. I was also surprised by the fantastic away support Rovers brought. I didn't realise they had that sort of backing, better than most in the Championship.
  19. Papa was good for 60 minutes but seemed to stop playing once he scored. Then he went through the off side thing and was replaced far too late on. Well worth another go if only to provide something different. Unfortunately last night others also became anonymous in the second half. Maybe credit to a very fit Rovers team.
  20. Not sure if it has been covered elsewhere, but if Thomas is out for a while and we have lost Murty for longer, then surely Chris Perry would be a better replacement than James who always gives his man too much space.
  21. As Madge sang - "Papa don't preach"
  22. I think that at last, after about 5 years, a smile is coming back onto our faces! Papa comes from a squad that finished 4th in Serie A ! COYR
  23. Wow, exciting times ! Does he realise we're propping up our equivalent of Serie C ?
  24. Kasey Keller ?
  25. Is our playing budget regulated as a percentage of income in this division?
