  1. Since 2003 HMRC queue up with all other creditors. Hence I believe they have applied for the winding up order to get to the head of the queue.
  2. Once again reference is made to Pompey owing HMRC £7.5m. In fact their appeal was to reduce their debt to HMRC by £7.5m, ie the debt owed being vastly more. Interesting article in the Mail on Sunday about Gaydamak and his retention of the land when selling the club.Apologies if already posted but it seems to be his security against the £28m owed to him. http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/sport/football/article-1243828/Do-men-control-Portsmouth-want-football-club-superstore.html
  3. Covered by the same programme I believe, as Mr Pearce mentioned it also covers Bristol clubs.
  4. Hosted by Jonathan Pearce and featuring Murty. On South Today when questioned about Pompey's plight, Mr Pearce mentioned that the EPL fear a far bigger club (than Pompey) will go under by the end of the year. Football is slowly coming back to the community clubs.
  5. Maybe this is a direct quote from AP: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11734_5869463,00.html We should offer Gillet plus a few others not featuring in our first team squad and kill two birds.
  6. I agree with all that !
  7. Agree with all that, apart from the comments about the manager as the wrong man Roger old chum !
  8. Three consecutive score updates on the Skysports videprinter, some sort of a record, especially after no mention during the 90 minutes. Still dancing around at 1-0 to initially notice the second and third !
  9. At last our problem position is filled. AP is slowly building his own team and this guy is a useful RB. Once again well done AP / NC .
  10. Not Lines (?)... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_5855021,00.html
  11. Erm - link is Alex McLeish after League Cup game !!!
  12. The timing for ML is perfect as clubs with far smaller gates / support currently above us will contribute to our own rise up the leagues by failing themselves financially. Cometh the hour etc. I'm enjoying the ride after previous events at SM.
  13. As a right back you need to either stay tight and steer your opponent down the line or get in a tackle / block. Too many opponents get past the outside of him and with a lack of pace he is then out of the game. As he never gets tight on his opponent but backs off, he rarely gets in a block. He also puts balls into the mixer from way too far back from the bye line, at a difficult angle for the central players to attack. At best I would say adequate cover for Murty in this division.
  14. That means another midweek home game - great news for saints supporters involved in Saturday football, as they are few and far between this season.
  15. If he doesn't get the money then I expect he keeps the land. That would cause a major problem if the club went into administration as any potential buyer would still have the balance to pay to get back the land. Complicated or what?
  16. At least Rupert didnt take the land ! http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jan/05/portmouth-alexandre-gaydamak Priceless !
  17. I got that fake shirt too ! Went on holiday to Greece expecting the deal to be done when I was away, bought the shirt and wore it to the next league game.
  18. "Pardew told the Southern Daly Echo"... Did he really, not sure about that one Mr Skysports, unless Mr Cortese has made his peace with said rag. As you say , a page filler.
  19. Another recent FT article here; http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/02f5067e-f706-11de-9fb5-00144feab49a.html Interesting times indeed !
  20. Kevin Phillips looks to be one of those released by Brum as they clear the decks and spend some of that £40m. Not sure how old he is or whether we are able to forgive, but a good impact player as we know to our cost. Certainly the type of striker we need to complement Lambert, Connolly and Papa.
  21. If James had stayed on the near post after the corner and until the ball was cleared Exeter wouldn't have scored. Casual defending.
  22. I thought Spiderman and Hammond tackled back, closed down and won a lot of loose ball. Their simple distribution was also effective. A formidable centre of midfield.
  23. Leeds, Norwich, Charlton and Colchester have a winning mentality like us and will be hard to catch. However a 5th or 6th place finish looks possible. To go up we would still have to probably beat two of those clubs and to do so I think we need more strength in depth. We have got away with it to date, but do suffer from spells when we appear to let the opposition dominate. Even Wycombe and Exeter have had long spells dominating games against us.This cannot happen should we get into play off games.
  24. Ricardo Fuller for Pompey, to equalise at the Northam End in the FA Cup a few years ago- in the six yard box managed to hit row Z. Fantastic at the time but sadly the shape of things to come.
  25. RL(SGM ) v Tranmere - my favourite although Connolly v Norwich was in open play, DC had a bit more space, RL had to drill it past a wall.
