  1. Good to see Saints play with width - when attacking down one flank the opposite winger stayed wide and Saints midfield looked better for it, with Hammond and Spiderman using the space well. Good time to be a Saints fan at the momemt, a manager who knows what he's dong and tolerates NC ( unless you know differently) and a team playing with confidence Onwards and upwards - we deserve it after a stuttering few years.(ex JPT)
  2. Diani Beach, Mombasa on a dodgey internet connection on Boxing Day. Flew in and saw the home game on New Year's Day - at a guess 2004.
  3. Nice quiet location for clandestine meetings - nudge nudge wink wink, say no more !!!!!
  4. You are obviously not a regular at the Newport Inn Braishfield, Turkish !
  5. From what I understand, NC didn't want LM as a salaried 'ambassador' if he is being paid more than he is bringing in through marketing / match day hospitality. This is probably where the bad feeling has arisen. Business v sentimentality
  6. I occasionally come across LM and MLT at charity functions and dinners and always enjoy their company and respect their comments. However I believe they both expect more recognition from Cortese than he is prepared to give. When ML and NC bought the debt of the club they clearly wished to start with a clean slate, including establishing a respectable and businesslike approach not always evident in football. I would say this is why AP has gone, as he has stepped outside of their acceptable standards of behaviour. As the man NC himself said - "Have you ever heard of a chairman sacking a manager on a Monday morning after a 4-0 away win?" I personally find it unfair that old favourites undermine the current set up and their businesslike approach when no one else came up with the funds to rescue our club.
  7. What was good after half time was that with width there were greater spaces opening up down the middle. Unfortunately Lambert kept going wide himself so it was left to Barnard to exploit them. It may well be that individual flair players (eg Puncheon) are replaced by players who carry out instructions for the benefit of the team under NA and players like Puncheon are used as impact players late on. I thought it was a much better approach to a 'park the bus' team than either Burley or Pardew managed as we were finding ways through, but just not finishing. Keep up the good work NA.
  8. I thought the second half was good. Nice to get a point against Colchester, from memory over the last few seasons we normally lose to them. Lallana and Richardson to come in. Onwards and upwards.
  9. I was troubled by the pre-season hype as Saints dont do being favourite. To go to every match expecting a win can only result in disappointment, it's not real football support, it's plastic - Manure etc. FF (quite correctly) identified a problem with Pardew / Cortese early on which also put a damper on the start of the season. For that reason I did not buy a season ticket for the second consecutive season and for only the second time in the last 15 seasons. I dont really trust NC at the moment, like a child with a new toy and no parents around.
  10. Keeping the ball rolling on potential managers , Jim Magilton was in Oxfords Restaurant earlier this evening .
  11. If the crowd was supplemented by floating supporters who are not familiar with Saints best starting 11, then the announcement that the match day programme could only be viewed on line probably didnt help. Mr Cortese needs to realise that the average fan does not take his laptop / blackberry to the game.
  12. Flat is about it, and sorry for all those who bought their first ever season tickets for this season, expecting a stroll through league. Saints just doesn't work like that !
  13. Do Prado was not quite what I expected.(Understatement) It will be interseting to see if he gets another run out as I thought he was a long way off the pace. Alex O-C must wonder what he has to do to start.
  14. Interesting one, because my mate told me yesterday he saw Pardew in the stand at Villa Park, before this all kicked off .............................
  15. I'm stunned. Desperately sad that you will not see the dream realised and as a club / city we will not be able to thank you enough. My thoughts are with your friends and family. A man with tremendous warm and wisdom and a wonderful smile that will always be remembered lighting up Wembley. RIP Markus.
  16. Try the west coast, VFTT - Santa Barbara, Monterey etc are great, easy going and with easy access to the mountains- Yosemite and Lake Tahoe for the great outdoors.
  17. I cannot understand who would be within the NC set up and spread rumours. NC has come in and set up a tight business around his own appointments who one would assume would be loyal to their boss. What I do know through conversations with several of the high profile personalities from the 'old' club, who clearly dont like their treatment from the new regime, is that they enjoy a little muck stirring.
  18. That's what has been discussed over the last few pages !!! Next...
  19. Is the world of Portsea Island returning to normality after the fantasy created by AA? Taken from the BBC article: "It's the creditors' choice how and when the club will emerge from administration, not the current administrators," insolvency lawyer Guy Thomas of SA Law LLP told BBC Sport. Blimey, next the BA trolley dollys will realise there isn't so much money sloshing around these days !!!
  20. Good article: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/columnists/patrick_barclay/article7139452.ece ( apologies if previously posted)
  21. This is my 93rd post and I'm only 75th !!!
  22. A license for estate agents to print money for a bit of photocopying.
  23. Running a business in the construction industry, where everyone hopes the developer / funder survives, I have come across administrators when businesses go under, but never one who serves the creditors so poorly as AA.He does not appear to be an administrator. Storieteller could have continued, after all, he has a proven track record for a similar disservice to suppliers.
  24. I cannot understand why AA hasn't, albeit according to The News, given up the fight to keep Grunt. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/Pompey-still-have-Avram-hope.6303407.jp Is that in the creditors' best interest Mr AA? Representing the creditors, he should be getting the best deal he can to keep their businesses going. His focus is *rse about face if you ask me.
  25. Does BWP feature in the Plymouth first team, that's a double relegation for the boy. He could join Pompey for a hat trick and frequent his former regular haunts !!
