  1. Jos was fine today but interesting that the no5 shirt is still up for grabs (?)
  2. I am the manager of Winchester Castle U18s, Hants County Youth League. I have previously run a team from U8 to U18. Mid teen players seem to suffer all sorts of non-impact injuries. All you can do as a coach is a proper warm up (and warm down afterwards) and do the drills etc before having a game at the end, when injuries are more likely to occur. Once warmed up do not keep them standing around at any time and make sure access to water / energy drinks is always available.
  3. I hear Gaddafi is struggling to find meaningful employment.
  4. I doubt your chums attending your WI picnic got paid a substantial weekly wage to represent 32,500 + people, Lighthouse.
  5. For what it's worth as you ask: The Mule was OK in the midddle of midfield; BWP a headless chicken up front; and I have always held Prutton in poor esteem as part of our 'relegation ' team (with Barnard and Davenport). He was one of our better players and got himself banned about ten games before the end of the season, in a game we were unlikely to win anyway, in one of the more surreal moments at St Marys, and we've had a few.
  6. A bit late, but Winchester Castle 1-1 at Paulsgrove.
  7. Get well soon Danny.
  8. Reading seem to rate him: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/r/rotherham_utd/9574224.stm
  9. A hedge fund was even more dodgy than Rupert etc in the good financial times, let alone now weathering the world's financial turmoil. Poor old Coventry, there but for the grace of God...
  10. BBC suggesting a done deal ? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14645578.stm
  11. To embellish this slightly, the GK coach was asked by Lowe to go and watch Forecast at a Spurs ressie game. Coach said that it was his job to know all GKs and could recommend many before Forecast and didn't go to Spurs ressies' game. Forecast got a 5 year contract, GK coach was off loaded. All part of the parallel universe that we existed within when that retirement homes expertran our great club (into the ground) Long live The Don !
  12. And I thought it was svelte MLT waving from the gantry !!!
  13. The only person I recognise in the photo is 'Roger' from this forum.
  14. I remember once against Leeds at the Dell we (Mark Hughes?) scored a 'goal' that stretched the net and rebounded into play off the advertisement hoarding behind the net and came straight out. No one on the pitch appealed. We were 0-2 at the time, and did not have an internet forum.
  15. Drifted out to do the washing up. I'm a Saints fan and therefore always expect it to go wrong...Hold on, this is Adkins, things have changed.
  16. Best yet. Our low profile is now blown, let's hope Arsene etc don't notice over the next couple of weeks.
  17. Prutton v Arsenal.
  18. This !
  19. I can advise 'Olivers Battery Youth FC' was renamed 'Winchester Youth FC' in about 1998 as the OB rec pitch was inadequate for fielding a team in each age group - Under 11 to Under 16. The thriving club now plays at King George V Playing Fields bar End. That is all.
  20. So he festers, forgotten in the reserves. A few more hard nosed chairmen and footballers might realise how priveliged they are.
  21. RIP Markus and thank you.
  22. MLT was his usual chatty self, in a dapper suit behind us on the TV gantry at the back of the Kingsland. Spent most of the second half leaning over the gantry balustrading surveying his empire (!), chatting and permanently smiling. Welcome home Matt !
  23. Roger, he's saved the club and appears to have sufficient contacts in the financial world to keep his promises, made at the takeover. He's steadied the ship and enhanced the infrastructure of the club. I am really looking forward to this season, but have no idea where we wil finish. However, if Phillips and Ormerod are considered a lethal partnership then we must have a reasonable chance of a play off finish. Minor things like car parking charges etc are annoying but insignificant in the grand scale of things. hence like you I have invested in a season ticket. See you this afternoon !
  24. Five seats to the right, now directly opposite the tunnel and in front of Paul Walsh / Chris Kamara etc.
  25. Morgan Schneiderlin. Was amazed we managed to get him from under Wenger's nose in the bad place we were at, at the time.
