  1. Watching Saints away, probably like any away support, is putting on a united front on and off the pitch and giving maximum backing to the team from the terraces. As away support we do not give away our day and travel without this commitment to support our club, city etc. Excluding the support in the Northam and Kingsland North, at home we are in amongst much less partisan support. This is no criticism of those regulars, but the support is diluted by local uni students, occasional visiting neutrals, and 'tourists' all being in the home areas with no real interest in the result but often moaning if the game isn't played as they expect and slagging off the relevant Redmond, Austin, Cedric etc . I sit opposite the tunnel in seats we have had since the club moved from the Dell. The most critical 'supporters' around us are those I have never seen before.
  2. Apologies - amended post as cannot delete (?)
  3. Torino 1-3 Sampdoria today with Gaston scoring twice and Yoshi again not getting off the bench.
  4. Not sure I get your comment here - it's not a possibility for the future - it's in place and therefore the precedent is set
  5. In true Saintsweb fashion the thread has gone away from my OP and an interest in the reaction to the standing in the lower tier; and why our club seem to stall on what I see as an improvement for the Northam / Itchen North (?) at St Marys
  6. A classic ground, unless as an away fan you had that lovely police / security pod thing hanging over you and reducing the view...
  7. Despite the result determined by a dubious penalty, a great night last night. The Ings goal one of the best moments of the season. What a fantastic new ground the Spuds have, and a few improvements to the supporter experience Saints could easily add at St Marys for stadium comfort : - Wifi that works for all everywhere in a football stadium - A PA system that is audible for all in the stadium And the big one - the standing room 'seats' that we keep being told the club are monitoring for its legalities. The lower tier where we were located was all this design and it was so much better standing (with a handrail in front of each row of seats).
  8. Ings 'penalty' reminded me of the Mane one on one at Leicester the year they won the league. Easier for the ref / VAR ref to wave play on than disrupt the fairy tale.
  9. Martin Caceres scored for Fiorentina last night against Conte's Premier League Exiles - Sanchez, Lukaku, Young, Moses and Eriksen all playing for Inter .
  10. Doesn't Yoshi play fullback for the Japanese national team ?
  11. Just back. A cracking cup game with two near full strength team respecting the competition. Shame the club gives up the entire Northam to Spurs support Loved Ralph's approach to losing a cup game with time running out - bring on all three forwards on the bench to join Ings
  12. Another great away performance, Armstrong is immense.
  13. ... a new song based on a 1960s hit by Credence Clearwater Revival, over 50 years ago ?
  14. Exactly this. I thought Romeu would come on when Armstrong went off, to sit in front of the defence once Traore moved to the middle
  15. We need all the marginal gains we can get for some mental strength after 85 minutes. Instead of a coach I would prefer an experienced calm but vocal centre back bossing the team on the pitch to resolve this one.
  16. On that theme you could argue the defenders in front of him are not so good. His job is primarily to prevent goals and somehow his luck / coaching / confidence were all at a low point at our club. ...and Lazio were quite good !!!
  17. Credit where it's due. He is doing well at Celtic. Against Lazio and today he looked useful on TV. Glad his luck has changed , that's football.
  18. Wonderful day for the Big Man, and a great moment as he lifts the cup - the biggest cheer. Congratulations Fraser
  19. According to Radio Solent last night, that is seven points more than Bournemouth in the same time period. Maybe we're not as bad as we think...
  20. Glad you're not the only one ! I struggle with the idea of watching podcasts with news about news
  21. After the next six games everyone will have played each other once. Looking at our games, it seems the fixture list gave us a bum deal and if we accumulate a decent amount of points over the next month we may have a better idea of how we compare to the rest. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised !!
  22. We can dream !
  23. Now Zeljko Buvac would be very good news as an assistant , but we still need someone to focus on the transfers , unless Ralph takes that on board
  24. Now everybody is fit ( according to Ralph in the press conference ) , can this thread now be closed ? !!
  25. Best take plenty of factor 30 and some imodium or similar
