Mauricio Pochettino in talks over new contract
Kingsland Red replied to goneawol's topic in The Saints
If true , like FF, I am also pleased ! -
Didn't see the programme but read SA's bullet point list. (Thank you SA) The point that jumped out at me is the no one criticises the (first team) manager for playing youth team players and accommodating their mistakes. This comes across in Poch's post match interviews after a defeat when he never responds to an interviewers prompt about a players error or performance. Still "Together as One'. After reading that, I believe Poch will stay this summer as he is the focal point of the system in place.

Poyet now getting the same reaction as Poch, after Sunderland lost to Hull. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26514159

Is "lovely" the 21st century pundits equivalent of "poetry in motion (Gerry)"?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26468560 Another club to add to the Cherries, Skates, us, West Ham. Only Daniel Levy managed to curb his love of the transfer market.

I'm sticking with Marcelo Bielsa, on this thread and all others so far !
-
Marcelo Bielsa is out of work ( and I believe was considered for the WBA position), as the creator of MPs style of football I would happily have him along !
-
Should MP drop Lambert for the Palace game!
Kingsland Red replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
From the rose tinted pro-Lambert zone of Kingsland Block 32, up by the TV cameras, I can't see what the problem is with our Rickie. He never shirks responsibility and is always in amongst the action. Strange thread for me…. -
Mauricio Pochettino staying as Southampton manager - Official
Kingsland Red replied to Ashley Grute's topic in The Saints
It may be that Poch is slowly coming to the conclusion that the way he sets his team out has been rumbled. EG. Fat Sam puts balls behind the full backs with ease, Liverpool put two strikers up against our isolated centre backs. In La Liga there are few teams with enough quality to break down such a high pressing system but the Premier is 'dog eat dog' and he needs to sort out impact substitutes as alternative options. I think his lack of success with the 'Marcelo Bielsa' system is currently putting doubts in his mind, hence his appearance of not looking happy. If he can sort out the squad to suit in the summer I think he will be back on the case, rather than going through the motions of seeing out the season. -
After 19 games, the half way point, we had 27 points. In the return fixtures we are now 5 points worse off (although obviously home/away is not factored in). I would expect us to rally and get around 48 points which should secure a top half finish. Personally I agree with the Osvaldo factor thread OP, that we needed a quality striker to finish all our good build up play and Osvaldo has miserably failed us.
-
We are so wasteful in front of goal , especially when the score is 0-0 (today) or we are winning (West Ham). Unfortunately it is our 'England' players who are at fault. I feel for Poch, he must have identified the need to expend big bucks on a quality goal scorer and we got Osvaldo who never delivered. A wasted season and unless we rectify the situation in the summer we will remain someway off the top six position our owners seek.

Think of that old football cliche - "Form is temporary, class is permanent". Hope that helps !

I drive around a lot during the week and tend to listen to talksh*te. Hawksby and Jacobs is a decent radio show but I can't stand Colin Murray, he really has nothing to say himself but attempts to spar with his guests in a little brother niggly kind of way. The BBC commentator Alan Green also annoys, but it may be that whining Northern Irish accent, like Murray, that does me in (?) I think Adrian Durham is employed to wind up for a response.
-
Few teams have a 'Plan B'. It seems to me clubs play out the matches accepting their fate. Only Mourinho seems capable of turning a game with substitutions and a change of the point and phases of attack.
-
Dani was our marquee signing and anticipated top scorer, to complete the team from last season which was lacking in the final third. Long before his departure he was becoming a major disappointment. I agree with the OP, his (lack of) input is very telling, especially in games like today where we desperately needed some creativity up front. Hopefully any monies recovered from his transfer can be put towards a quality striker , and we start again next season.
-
I agree give him a chance in the next few games, as we desperately need to sort out the last third.
-
Ramirez was as guilty as the others in the Saints inability to get shots on target and until this is resolved we will never turn possession into wins.

The club is no longer run FOR the fans...............
Kingsland Red replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
With all due respect, apart from knowing Duncan hides behind the name Fitzhugh Fella and writes books about the Saints, I don't know him from Adam and certainly wouldn't recognise him. I do know various other SWFmembers, but don't always agree with them. I don't really need to, provided we enter into this forum with respect for each other and accept others opinions, all's well. -
I reckon recently there are too many members advising that your posts are ill conceived; rather than putting a coherent alternative. Not worth getting stressed about, it's only fun anyway. As FF has discovered - we change nothing.
