Thank you DRG, that's reassuringly good news. I'll keep my head in the sand !

Not sure if this post should be in this thread, responding to earlier posts , or the Mike Halsey one. I think the problem our club, and several others, are up against is with with where we are - in the Premier League. It is now a global brand and a marketing exercise for so many who need a return for their investment, not least the News Corporation / SKY set up. What use are clubs like Burnley , Bournemouth, Stoke or us to this juggernaut when Arsenal, Manchester or Liverpool have far more global appeal to rake in the bucks ? The occasional help over the line, like we witnessed on Saturday, is probably the way forward to ensure those clubs are up there at the end of the season. If this is the case, more and more people supporting their local clubs will bail out, and as Fitzhugh Fella queried in the 'Kat meets Chinese thread', why not transfer the franchises to China (and ignore the local support). Sad times.

3 consecutive matches 3 penalties conceded by Jose Fonte
Kingsland Red replied to HKsaint's topic in The Muppet Show
The Man Utd penalty was not Fonte….. -
http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/20160906-southampton-banc-de-binary-official-binary-trading-partner-3292889.aspx I assume this means a series of 0-1 and 1-0 results. Ties in nicely with what the various threads throughout the summer have predicted about a lack of goals.

It is apparent that there are such small margins between winning and losing points in the Premier League, so referees' decisions can hugely influence the clubs positions. Having seen Graham Poll as an after dinner speaker, and hearing about Halsey's comments, I would agree that referees definitely choose to bottle or not see many decisions that disrupt the status quo. You can add to that the fact that players see the league as one big franchise to earn as much as possible from over about ten years. Unless you watch top division football to appreciate the talents on show from both sides, it does get very frustrating. e.g. Lee Mason last week.

Arm injury, hopefully nothing serious: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/08/31/fraser-forster-forced-to-withdraw-from-england-duty-due-to-injur/

Saintseb, far too logical - this forum never gives new managers, players or systems a chance to bed in over say 8-10 games, instant improvement is compulsory.

Ace at Belbins, Romsey

Why would they ? He doesn't play for Man United. Ridiculous press conference, all about United with Puel bemused and thinking what ridiculous questions, which of course they are !

If only the press could see beyond Manure...

Any New Season Ticket Holders Aroound You This Season ?
Kingsland Red replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
The lad who always has to leave on 88 minutes to 'beat the rush' ( !!!) ,still has a season ticket, and true to form and to the amusement of all around us left on.... 88 minutes . All fine, unless there is goalmouth action and he disrupts the whole row in front of us who stand to let him pass, whilst chuckling. -
Jim Branning - I was there and still have no idea why he was ...

Everton 0-1 Espanyol, Lukaku limps off. Tough times for the Bench Pioneers...

Pelle was always a popular guy within the playing squad; but then there was the squad and Mane , who always distanced himself from the camaraderie.

Just dropped in here for a mid-summer update. I don't think Saintsweb do early days, they want it all and they want it now.

Always a pleasure to see Brendan Rodgers progress after slating Saints lack of ambition:Tonights Champions League qualifier result: Lincoln Red Imps (Gibraltar) 1-0 Celtic. Funny old game...

Your first Saints manager appointment and preference?
Kingsland Red replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
He plays a lot of national veterans tennis tournaments, and is a handy player -
Also a very good perspective on our club and the sum of its parts.

They've even nicked our own Benny Hill

Ah, those were the days, when Dubai Phil rambled on about his golf chums, and Tijuana Tim got on local radio from LA. Where are they now ?

Apparently the guy has been learning his trade at Staplewood - from RK and LR, not VVD: http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11673/10295954/brian-mcdermott-sacked-as-manager-of-reading (third paragraph)

Following many missives to the club, including a strong comment on my season tickets return, I had a phone call today from a club representative regarding the PA system in the Kingsland (and Northam ?) I am not sure if he knew what a babel fish was, but the guy who phoned apologised on behalf of the club, and was clearly aware that those seated in the Kingsland (and Northam ?) have not been able to understand anything from Kenzie, Kelvin, MLT, Krueger, Lawrie and the 1976 team or anyone else communicating with the fans for some time, albeit "Justin Gladys" and his North Car Park Closure announcements seem to be loud and clear. I am advised the club are getting it sorted out as a "priority stadium project" ( Krueger speak) ready for next season. Here's hoping.

The PA system may be OK in the Itchen, but totally mashed up in the Kingsland

Great stuff Thorpie. Nice to have a bit of intellect on here, "Poetry in motion, Gerry". Great night last night, the Saints Family as one.
