Now we have a forward who can score goals maybe Puel can receive a bit of slack. Although JRod and Long have had a lot of game time, they have failed to step up to the plate since Austin got injured. We now have some exciting permutations and plenty of pace up front.

Sunderland 0 Saints 4 - Post Match Humble Pie
Kingsland Red replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Good win and at last we have started a game without the sterile JRod or Long. They have both had enough game time to sharpen up, but hopefully with Boufal to return we can have a more dynamic presence in the last third without needing to call upon those two again. -
No, Wanyama was further out of town. VVD's is new build nearer the city centre.
-
With reference to VVD moving, he has recently purchased a house in St Cross, Winchester and his partner has recently had a baby and has requested he does not move in the next couple of years. Realistically the only better team in commutable distance is Chelsea at their Cobham training ground.

Brilliant, now to get that mouthful of tea off my keyboard

..... any sightings of our saviour ? .....
-
Is he a free agent and can his legs last 90 minutes for a stab at centre back until VVD is fit ?

Pressing is a strange tactic. You may win the ball higher up the field , but the space between the lines is minimal with the opposition getting men behind the ball in a reduced and therefore congested area. It also suits defending opponents like Leicester last year, or Chelsea at St Marys this season , hitting us on the break.

In his press conference just now I thought Puel said "2-3 weeks, 2-3 months, we do not know yet" .....

Had a look on KUMB for more fun. Why send a mobile Reese Oxford out on loan and spend £8m on a geriatric seems to be the gist of it. Let's hope he doesn't redeem himself on Saturday.

Transfer Deadline Day Jan 2017 Edition
Kingsland Red replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Quashie, Davenport, Barnard and Redknapp Junior by Saggy Chops, all crap in desperation, with maybe the exception of Quashie. -
Most inept display since surrendering 6-1 to Liverpool last year. At least this time it wasn't our best line up.
-
Tactically spot on against a so called free scoring team in both legs. Could have won by many more over the two games.
-
Maybe he will take the pressure off our non-scoring forwards, and they will start to contribute goals from the many chances created.

Think you'll find (RB) Leipzig is in Germany, (RB) Salzburg in Austria
-
Jesus (RB) and the expectation of Neil McCann actually doing something , anything, with a football.
-
Booing a Luton player whilst being stretchered off with a broken leg - classlessest.

I think you'll find Tyro U11 is 30 minutes each way !!

Can anyone in the Itchen corner next to the away fans please explain why Nyom did not receive at least a second yellow card for going straight through Long , just before half time. From our angle up in the Kingsland, it looked blatantly obvious.

Can't we just embrace the Bournemouth rivalry?
Kingsland Red replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
It's a derby by default. I am sure Man Utd fans never got over excited about playing Bolton when City were in the lower leagues. Also, I don't know any Bournemouth fans and am quite happy for them to do well. Now the Blue Few... -
Puel so far, not a good fit for saints? or the man to take us forward?
Kingsland Red replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Dennis Wise and Harry Bassett had that cockney charisma, they just never won a football match -
Puel so far, not a good fit for saints? or the man to take us forward?
Kingsland Red replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
It's credit to the man that he has given established players Long and JRod so much time to find their form. How we are 9th with so few goals is a credit to his organisation. Now it's over to Les to ship out the deadwood and the Black Box to identify and bring in some much needed firepower. We will have a better idea of where we are after the window closes. -
Hoj is currently like a learner driver- looking every which way before doing anything.

Europa League Verdict (How was it for you love?)
Kingsland Red replied to Golac's Iron Gonads's topic in The Saints
Sadly without the core of the team that actually qualified for the competition- Fonte, Pelle, Mane and Wanyama, (arguably, exc VVD,our best players ) we struggled. Enjoyed Sparta home, Milan trip and Milan at home. Maybe our continuous selling of our best players contradicts our ambition to qualify for Europe. One for the board to work out.
