  1. Whose is it?
  2. He could tell that even in the dark?
  3. Charlton Athletic colours.
  4. Gosh. Not sure I'd get the full ten years use though.
  5. Well done to my "other team" Charlton Athletic (grew up watching them). Some of the family I married into support Sunderland so I'm hoping for a CAFC v SAFC final. This, of course, denies another team a Wembley outing so I'll be quite sad for Doncaster.
  6. Does everyone remember Cardiff fans singing "That's why you're going down" when they beat us in Ralf's first game? I just thought I'd mention it.
  7. They did this a few games back (can't remember which). It worked well, I think.

  9. Must have been to cause injury.
  10. Oh, and as Charlton are my "other team", this has been a brilliant weekend.
  11. The music and announcements are so loud I had to put my fingers in my ears at one point. A couple of seasons ago, we couldn't hear the announcements. Now I could probably hear them if I stayed home. And if we must have music, can we have something classy and Saints related when the teams come out? Other teams have their themes (YNWA, Bubbles, Johnny Todd etc) why can't we have a decent version of OWTS - perhaps Louis Armstrong or a trad New Orleans band? Anything would better than the awful garbage we have now.
  12. But Charlie Adams is staying
  13. I think we played as though Hughes was still in charge for much of that game. Too much passing around at the back instead of the quick breaks forward we've recently enjoyed. Was that just because Palace stopped us playing that way? We had plenty of chances to get it forward with JWP when he switched to the right but insisted on punting it to Targett who was then outnumbered. As for the Zaha incident, he was fouled a lot and he also dived a lot. The coming together with JWP may have been a foul but, if it was, it was a minor one. His reaction was out of all proportion and I hope he gets an extended ban and weakens our rivals.
  14. I think the point is that we get rid of players who, long- or short-term, don't fit into RH's system or who are not contributing what we need. Hoj clearly does not fit either of those categories. But then I think you knew that.
  15. He/she has my admiration for managing to keep all the different log ins separate.
  16. Agree with this. JWP isn't the greatest player in the league but, for some reason, he gets a lot of unfair stick on here. His passes generally go to a Saints player, unlike those of Lemina.
  17. I mentioned this in the West Ham reaction thread but have started this to see if it's just me with this opinion. Our throw ins are awful. We very rarely take them quickly to gain an advantage and few players show themselves to help the thrower. The throw ins are ponderous and seem to give an advantage to the other team as we have no plan. Surely this is a basic drill that can be practised? There seems little point in competing to gain the throw in by kicking the ball off of an opponent only to give the ball back by messing up the throw in. And, while I'm here, why do we never under any recent manager, leave a player up the field when we are defending a corner? Obviously it would leave us with one fewer defender but other teams do it. We need an "out" for when we gain possession or the ball just comes back after we've lumped it upfield.
  18. Disappointed after the two wins but we were beaten by a better team. What was most disappointing was that we seemed to give up the quick forward passing that served us so well against Arsenal. It was back to the play it sideways and backwards or, in Lemina's case, play it to the opposition. And when we will we ever sort out our throw-ins? We never seem to have a plan, take ages and give the ball away.
  19. Every Saints player played well today. Very impressed by Vestergaard who still had confidence after his error last week. Ings excellent. Target and Long's crosses for the goals were superb. We suddenly have team spirit. Looking forward to MOTD as I have no idea how our second goal was not saved. No replays in the stadium today.
  20. If our new manager is as good as I read he is, I would expect him to get better performances from our players. At the moment, I think we will stay up. At worst, at least we may go down fighting and playing more entertaining football. There's enough time for him to turn things round.
  21. Actually, almost all of the replies to this thread are criticising them because of their gender. References to "that blonde bird" and "shreaking" kind of give the game away. Some female presenters are poor, as are some male presenters. Gender has nothing to do with it unless you are still living in the seventies.
  22. Don't come on here speaking sense. We need scapegoats.
  23. So many keyboard warriors being angry about other fans not protesting. What would you have me do? I support Southampton and enjoy going to matches (even last season). I have no real influence over who owns the club or how they run it. I could stop going in protest, I suppose, but I dont think that would make much difference and would deprive me of something I enjoy. I could go and support Portsmouth or Reading or Eastleigh but we all know that's not how supporting a club works. You don't go off and support someone else. And, when it comes down to it, what would I be protesting about? We've had a pretty good run and then a bad season. We've now got an owner who we don't think is investing sufficient (or possibly any) money. But we poor peasants can't direct the rich how to spend their money. When there's a protest about how capitalism and neo-liberalism work let me know because I'll be on it. But, if one of those complaining about other fan's apathy can set out a plan to make it all better, I'd be more than happy to consider it.
  24. Is he inferring it, that is, coming to that conclusion based on the information he has been given? Or is he implying it, that is, information he is giving leads to that conclusion? These things are important.
