Lets party!
-
Lets hope we do not see further signs of decay tonight!
-
Lets hope the defence is water tight! Just to keep this thread from being locked---------------Lowe Out!
-
It´s true, this story is running and running. Do you recon there is any teeth in this story!
-
Exactly. You know what´s going to happen don´t you!
-
Well we beg to differ and only time will tell, but personally I feel the decision to put JP in charge was a major c*ck up. IMHO we are in freefall and only drastic action will give us a chance of survival and if it means change then so be it.
-
So your solution is to stick with what we have got and hope it gets better! Are you confident? 1. The alternative is to put Crouch back as chairman, Lowe and Wilde will still remain shareholders, but at least Crouch gains more respect than Lowe and Wilde, who have once again proven that decision making is not their best attribute. 2. Are you blind! The reasons are that we are looking good for relegation, the crowds are thinning, we are regularily being thumped and yet you state that JP is doing a good job. He is way in over his head. Read the Watford post match reaction as regards tactics and selection and that may give you a clue. 3. Who is to say that results won't improve, have you got a crystal ball?. What would happen is that the extra few thousand back in the stands will help for sure, on the field and financially. Yes its another change, but so was ousting NP, and who made that decision? It's blatantly clear that it is not going to work with Lowe, Wilde, JP, and something has to be done before we slide down yet another division.

How on earth can you discuss saints without mentioning Lowe and JP? Ofcourse there are numerous threads on them unless you want to sweep under the carpet what they are doing to this club.
-
I think that this would be a gamble but a lesser one than what we have taken already. To my mind this would be the best way fro them to gain experience and because of their popularity the fans would be more forgiving and patient, and as you rightly mention, we need some atmosphere and feelgood back at the club desperately.

I wont go over the the appointment of the dutch duo or the reliance on kids as that has been covered time and time again. There is at least a couple of things that could happen to rectify the situation and bring back the fanbase and I will list them. 1. Lowe and Wilde get out, stop being our figureheads, you are not respected and have both proven you are incompetent on numerous occassions. 2. Nice guys, but the dutch duo must go, we all know the reasons. 3. (The controversial part)! bring in a management team who love sfc, who will bring the fanbase back to St Marys, who will provide that lacking buzz, who will improve our turnstile figures instantly, who know the english game and what is required, yes, they maybe inexperienced in football management but they can install a team of helpers and advisers. They probably will not cost any more than what is in place at present. They have already in the past expressed an interest in doing the job and may have enough clout to bring in a one or two experienced heads to help claw our way out of this situation. Benali and Le Tissier! If we are now committed to gambling as Lowe has done with the dutch guys at present, lets do it whilst at the same time getting the crowd numbers back up. We all know that the fans are the 12th man and without even changing the playing staff there will be an instant positive effect. I know I am going to get jumped on for suggesting this, but frankly I care not. Imo, this is an option that gives us chance of hope, a feelgood factor, a pleased Barclays bank and just maybe a return to better times!.

How much to do a British Bulldog?
-
Also, because of the Wembly locality, I should imagine that many Arsenal fans go to the England games and Arsenal fans cannot abide AC because of the way he dumped them, which then leads to the money aspect which was the overiding reason why he left.

Did the investment rumours kill off the fans?
Saint Billy replied to Saint Billy's topic in The Saints
Agreed ! -
It´s one thing buying em, it´s another thing being able to afford their wages. At this time of night and slightly the worse for the golden nectar, but I would buy the guy who NP loaned at the end of last season from Sheff U to help steady the defence, (can´t remember his name). Probably would cost less than a million with the rest left to pay his and Skacels wages.

Did the investment rumours kill off the fans?

I'm not so sure! Just like the Charlton investment possibility, the news got out there. At games people were talking about it, local councillors where talking about it, Sky sports news, Sky news, BBC News and Talk sport covered it. Remember the quote from Leon Crouch "Very exciting times for sfc". The daily's ran editorial and the web was awash with it. Just google Paul Allen and Southampton fc and endless pages are still there. Most if not all saints followers knew about the Paul Allen link. -
Since the supposed interest from Paul Allen, along with the heady plans to plough millions into the club along with re-development of the area, there has been much speculation regarding numerous other investment links, from the Arabs to the Chinese, Canadian Ice hockey club owner, Everton chairman, US football club owner, loads more than I can care to remember. I believe the above has had a lot to do with the falling gates and general apathy, not all by any means, but surely it has not helped. The excitement kicked up by the Paul Allen link was immense, not just on this forum, but in the tabloids, media, radio etc. It was being spouted that we could rival the top four in the prem with the amount of spends we would have. Not all, but many of us were taken in and started to dream of the impossible. Yes, the boardroom politics, the power struggles, the financial meltdown and the poor results and numerous managers hold the biggest blame for the dwindling gates, but I also feel that all this endless and fruitless speculation has done the fanbase more damage than good and has played it´s part in ripping the heart and soul out of many fans who now see no hope for the future. Ironically, we are now in a situation where we cannot survive without investment, nor can we without the fanbase.

Oh my god! are you really happy with yourself for saying that? Although HR really p*ssed me off for dumping us and going back to poopsmouth, I am sure he thought he had jumped from the frying pan into the fire when he started working with Lowe. Lets face it, once relegated, half the squad left despite Lowe stating that that would not happen, along with no real cash made available to strengthen the squad despite Lowes promises. Its a real shame because he had the sort of character that fans could have warmed to, but it was obvious he was really unhappy here and finally made the criminal sin of 1, being photographed holding a poopey shirt whilst at saints. 2, Going back there and calling it his spiritual home.

Until our sunday league defence is sorted I will not comment on JP´s performance. If our defence is not improved then we will definately be relegation material. Its all very well playing pretty and entertaining football, but I personally do not find it entertaining watching our defenders run about like blind cats chasing as mouse, not exactly my idea of total football.

In the back of the net!!

Whoooosh!

Prepare for the backlash from those who think the sun shines out of his golden arse.
-
Get it into your head, even sides like Man U and Chelsea would see falling gates if they started hovering round the bottom of the league consistently. Stop endlessly banging on that it is the fans fault. Over the last few years, Lowe and the fans have never seen eye to eye, even the media largely dislike him. There is no smoke without fire, and Lowe is extremely fortunate to be given a second go at wrecking this club. At a time when survival is paramount, it is extremely wreckless to start gambling by placing relatively unkown management in control with no experience of this league. The fans have every right to question this and you have no right to blame them.
