  1. Overall not a bad result. Patterson is going to be a bit special if he gets the service, Harding, best player for saints on the day, Murty is going to be Mr reliable. Schneiderlin looked good in the first half but went totally out of the game in the second. Davies double save was excellent but was a bit surprised he did'nt get to their second. 3-4 players short but if we get the right men I think we could surprise a few this season. Whats concerns me is the same old characteristic of not being able to hold a lead and letting the old nerves kick in, hopefully Pardew and the new signings will sort that one out.
  2. Hopefully not in the saints dressing room.
  3. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=396745&postcount=42 Thats a bit more like it if confirmed! Surely, if decent signings cannot be made by freebies or loans this has to be the way to go.
  4. Agreed! Am I correct in thinking that even AP stated he is aiming at promotion this season?
  5. Oh behave. In this new era of sfc, some of us are anxious to see a competitive side put together asap. Time is not our friend, nor is a weak team, nor is starting on -10. Half the team has been sold or has left. We historically start the season badly, for the last few seasons we have always started with a team that is gelling. No one is slating AP, just some are getting anxious bearing in mind the past. This is an open forum right, used for expressing opinions. If you want us to use it for information only, not possible atm, there is little on there.
  6. I have to admit that I am now a little nervous with the lack of movement with regards to new signings and staff especially after last nights defeat at Farnborough, which has proven (if we need any) that we are very weak as far as backup is concerned. Although some are stating that we have got till the end of Aug when the transfer window ends, is'nt it important that we get off to the best possible start to narrow down the -10 asap. I still have every faith in AP and hopefully he is keeping his cards close to his chest, but what is a worry is that even throwing about a bit of cash may not be enough to get good enough players to join a league 1 club on -10.
  7. Both are important to me. I am old enough to remember and experience England winning the world cup and saints winning the fa cup 10 years later. There is absolutely no need to choose, there does not have to be a compromise, none effects the other. I am proud to be English and I am proud to support saints. What is ruining the international game is the obscene amounts of money these guys are earning primarily with their clubs which I think is clouding many peoples decision with regard to club or country which is understandable.
  8. Beats big brother any day. Good one Trousers!
  9. The trouble is that he does'nt really do the job for us, he reads like my old school report, "Has potential but does'nt try". Out of the two I would prefer Rasiak, funnily enough , much of the time he looks uninterested as well but he has the potentsil to score a lot of goals in this league assuming that we cannot keep both.
  10. mmmmmm, nice word!
  11. Sorry OBS!! Hope you didn't choke on you cocoa pops
  12. Has he played in any friendlies? Pardy mentioned that a couple of players are not really interested in playing in League 1 and we have all assumed that it is Saga and Rasiak. As Rasiak seems to be getting games I wonder if it is actually Saga and Schneiderlin in reality. I find it difficult to believe that Rasiak would be put in the side just to put him in the shop window, not exactly the way to get the team gelling so close to our first league game. So, just a guess with a smidge of hope, Rasiak might stay and Schneiderlin will be off.

TBH, the only time pompey have undermined the dominance of sfc in the modern era of football is when they have spent obscene amounts of money to do so, and at a time when sfc has suffered from serious mismanagement and fallen down the leagues because of it. The truth now is that pompey's bubble has burst, where as sfc worse times are behind them. Guess what happens next!
  14. With so many changes with sfc, do you think it marks the end to the dreaded Sky Curse? Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the Millwall games on sky? if it is, perhaps it would be worth AP taking note of this http://www.ehow.com/how_5134364_remove-curse.html
  15. Yep, got ya!
  16. I am now going to have great fun with my jock mate!
  17. Thats a bit weird seeing his name was linked a few weeks back as a potential buyer.
  18. I understand your concerns but I am sure AP does as well. What he tells us and what he is doing in the background are probably very different and I am sure he is making moves to strengthen the side. If us mortal fans realise that the team is weak I am damn sure he does.
  19. Just like the catering!
  20. I agree with that tdd. It's a bit like a boxer going into the ring expecting to get beat and having the sh*t knocked out of him. Lost the fight before he got into the ring. The mind set has got to change with the players and the fans.
  21. It is well known that our present team lacks confidence. This is only natural because we have only won a handful of games over the last year. This is one of the first things that AP quickly noticed hence the comment "We have got to get back to a winning mentality". As importantly, I think a run of good results will change the way the fans support the club. The atmosphere at games has been definitely lacklustre to say the least and I suggest it is largely because many have expected the team to lose. I know its obvious to say that good results will bring back the numbers, but I also think that confidence in our team will make the support more animated and produce a better atmosphere which will be worth a few extra points ala The Dell.
  22. I dont see any moaning, just debating and opinions that's all, thats what the forum is about isn't it? I have good faith in the new owner and Pardew, but as Pardew has said, we need to get into a winning mentality, and imo (notice the imo) we should be winning even the friendlies.
  23. I have no problem with the time table but I feel it needs more than a couple of new quality players in even to just to just survive in league 1 let alone overturn the -10. I suppose it is early days to try and guess at what side we will end up with once Pardew has finalised his squad, but imo we need about 5 or 6 new players to get anywhere close to having a side that will hold its own using the friendlies as a benchmark. I know that some of our first choice are not getting games yet but even so, we are well short of quality and experience.
  24. IMO, bad results against the likes of Totton, Eastleigh and Salisbury= bad team that will struggle in league 1. Pardew I am sure is working hard to sort this out but at this moment in time I take no comfort from the friendly results so far.
  25. If thats the case then I'm ghey. Still not sunk in that we survived and have been taken over by someone who is respected by all.
