Blimey, I am starting to worry about NC. All this bad publicity smacks of old Rupert but it is all happening at a greater pace. I have defended NC up and till a little while ago but it seems like once again we are starting to appear in the media for all the wrong reasons. Makes you wonder if these chairman/Ceo's/whatever's with no footballing background what so ever are a good idea. They seem to forget that football is an entertainment industry as well as a business, where you have to consider all angles when making a decision including the paying public and the media.

Basically because we could'nt convert first half dominance into a victory. God knows what happened at half time but apart from a small spell when Lallana came on we were clueless in the second half. I have seen this so many times with us now, brilliant one half, crud the other.

The performance first half was ok, second half it was shocking. A good workout should have been done in friendlies, this is the serious stuff now you know. We did'nt take our chances because we did'nt score. The defence cost us the match. Personal opinion but I never saw us as favourites although with the backing we should be. I dont really give a stuff about any other teams results, this is saints we are talking about and they have never given me too much confidence. Yes we always start slow but was hoping that our new era would produce something a bit different. How nice it would have been to be discussing how many games we could play without a loss. Mr P, I like him and always has, but has he got what it takes to kick this sleeping bear into action? He has let two of our best chances slip through his fingers in Papa and Antonio.

Ummm, my fears were justified. Bad pre-season leads to bad start to the season. Friendlies are important!! We have also again become a one man team just like the days of MLT. No replacements for Waigo and Antonio. Jaidi is spent. For a wealthy club we have not really improved on the quality of the team, infact I would say that we are weaker. What does AP say at half time FFS. I like AP and have supported him when others have slagged him off, but, he is in the last chance saloon now, if he cannot put together and manage a side with the backing that he has then his days are numbered. Favourites was always going to be a tag that would be uncomfortable to live with being Southampton, I just hoped it would last longer than one match.

Now thats what I call a unique plan

I am nervous about saturday mainly because saints often have this habit of not living up to expectations. Most pundits are classing us as favourites, that makes me nervous. I was hoping that a side was going to be put together that would undoubtably look all dominating with some exciting new signings. The signings we have made have been ok but not wet myself ok, and with the loss of Papa and Antonio we have lost some buzz and speed, perhaps this will be rectified shortly, but overall I am a little more nervous and cautious than I expected to be at the start of this season.

I have never known it so silent on transfers this close to the start of the new season. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Makes you wonder if we just let Waigo slip through the net when we should have signed him straight after end of the loan term, or his demands are too much, or AP is not that fussed on him.

Cannot understand putting him on even in a friendly if he is that bad. I know some people on here think that friendlies are meaningless but why play a player who is simply not good enough and no part of any future plans.

Oh come on, you are talking about players from teams that have more than ample cover if these guys get crocked.

The older you are the longer it takes to get over injuries. Look this is my opinion, if we sign DV and he does the business for us great, but I remember the old days when Lawrie Mac use to bring in these ex stars, and yes there were a few that done the business not least KK, but I also remember watching some of them who were shadows of their past and spent more time injured than on the park.
