Seeing as Les Reed is often talking about 5 year plans etc I'm wondering if this season is being sacrificed so we can learn this new system and dominate in several years from now culminating in his ( ludicrous imho ) Champions League dream . While it may result in a frustrating and painful season for the fans and another limp attempt in Europe , it may have been expected by the board . I honestly can't see Reed or Puel being under any pressure if this is the case . Thought we looked great for the first 15 mins or so . After that we lost control . Our cramped midfield was very easy to bypass . Austin is wasted in this formation, bet he is regretting his move now . Fonte looked like an accident waiting to happen . After watching preseason and these first 2 games I'm not sure that new players will fix us . The formation has sent us massively backwards and I just can't see that fixed with a few signings . We need the formation that suits us and has done in the past . I fear that the manager will persist with this formation until this season is too far gone to achieve anything . Why the board allowed someone to change something that had worked so well in the past is beyond me . My thoughts exactly . Some on here boast about how well run Saints are yet leaving signings to the last possible moment doesn't seem to clever to me . I've not said that we are not going to make signings . I only said that as yet I'm only really excited about our new midfielder. My opinion is that I will wait until Redmond is revealed as a world beater seems to irritate some fans . And I do support Saints thanks . Bertrand is my favorite player . Redmond hasn't shown me anything in our games so far . A few goals against poor opposition in friendlies don't count for much . Personally I wish we were buying him to loan him out . He shouldn't make the first team until he improves on a major scale . If we don't start paying a little more in line with the teams in our direct competition we will really get left behind . We seem to have this assumption that Redmond will naturally improve now he is with us even though other coaches couldn't . With a new coaching set up I prefer to wait and see . I would agree with that although I don't feel the club would compete financially with anyone in the top half of the table . I only ask the question as any time anyone questions the club the same ' constant improvement ' line gets rolled out . As if that statement means the club cannot be questioned at all .
