  1. MP could help us out and add Osvaldo to his wanted list? £25m for lallana or £24m for Lallana + Osvaldo what am I like
  2. Went back 8 years as that felt long enough to make the point. I actually left out 2004-05 where he finished 4th. Take your point about the SPL - applies I think to both players and managers although Wanyama has turned out ok. He's the exception rather than the rule.
  3. And what do we need? A manager that will win the league? Moyes last 8 years in the Premiership - 2006-07 6th 2007-08 5th 2008-09 5th 2009-10 8th 2010-11 7th 2011-12 7th 2012-13 6th 2013-14 7th If that personifies mediocrity id take it.
  4. Contradicts everything that was said & written previously. Should we avoid all managers from Scotland and Switzerland simply because the leagues are not as competitive as the Premiership?
  5. Not sure about bandwagon? Some are looking for continuity and a promising young manager to fill the void. Yakin ticks both boxes. Similarities in terms of honors, but the style of football is what attracts me to Yakin, Lennon's style of play doesn’t.
  6. We need a new manager poll? Who is your top pick? Favourites are - Yakin Koeman Laudrup Poyet Mackay Howe Lennon McClaren Moyes Benitez Garcia Clement Petrescu AVB Di Matteo Garde Schaaf Rosler Hoddle De Boer Other
  7. Could ask the same about MP? The side we have is still largely Adkins team
  8. MP released his own statement which Saints put on facebook. standard "I would like to thank everyone at Southampton for the support"
  9. They are an established top 5 club and will provide a real/new challenge for MP. Spurs have finished 4th - 6th place over the last 5 seasons, so to be successful MP surely needs to improve on that? I'm not sure he can or will. 2009–10 - finished 4th + SF of FA Cup 2010–11 - finished 5th + QF of the CL 2011–12 - finished 4th + SF of FA Cup 2012–13 - finished 5th + QF of the EL 2013–14 - finished 6th + R16 of EL Will be tough for MP to improve on this as United will be stronger next season (I suspect). Spurs will expect top 4 and a decent run in Europe + domestic cups, i'm not convinced he will deliver.
  10. Its impossible for the Echo to know what went on behind closed doors. I am excited for our next chapter and still have faith in the board to deliver success. The best is yet to come.
  11. Who would be your top pick? Apologies if you've already stated elsewhere? A poll would be good to if possible?
  12. Seems very open still - current odds 2/1 Yakin 7/2 Koeman 11/2 Poyet 13/2 Laudrup 10/1 Eddie Howe Roseler is a good shout at 40/1
  13. Worked for us under Adkins to some extent. Lambert was a better player under Adkins (imho) as we were more effective and quicker and getting the ball into the box & to the back post. The high press looked good and fans enjoyed it as we had the lion share of possession, but we struggled for a long-time after the defeat to Arsenal back in November and unless we signed 6-7 top players this summer I could see us doing similar again. MPs style is not sustainable for a small(ish) talent pool squad and this is probably why he's moved to Spurs. Moyes has the ability to mix it up and while he struggled at United I still think we would be very lucky to have him. If it was suggested last summer we would have signed him up no hesitation. The Man U experience will make him stronger imo
  14. Moyes has a far, far better managerial record than MP. Even last season he finished above us and was still ripped to shreds. He was one of the brightest managers in the world last summer and one average season with Man United doesnt change the fact that he's a superb manager. British managers are no longer fashionable, but id happily take Moyes
  15. Perhaps someone backed him heavily or he's simply a wild card from the bookies to skim £s from punters that back a quick climber? Or maybe he's actually a realistic option. Does seem to have come from nowhere
  16. League winner twice, cup winner twice, cup runner up twice, very impressive in europe, plays very attractive football and only 39 years old.
  17. Would be pleased with Moyes too. 10 months ago he was one of the hottest properties in football.... Be strong... Hold out until Yakin is appointed
  18. Seems fair, i think we will apoint someone within 2 weeks. Whose your top choice? Im leaning towards Murat Yakin. The more i read, the more i like the sound of him
  19. Have we ever been more attractive to top managers? Im not sure it needs to be done quickly, unless they know who they want already? We will be inundated with offers and rushing to appoint someone is not vital imho. If we dont have anyone by mid June id be worried. Get Mr Right, not Mr Right-now
  20. We have a fantastic squad a brilliant academy, superb facilities, world class fans and an owner with cash. We are a VERY very attractive option for managers and we will literally be inundated with offers. Im excited
  21. The Saints job has possibly never been so attractive. Im excited as think we are in a position to attract a top young manager. Onwards and upwards im 110% sure.
  22. Another DQ thread. Just what we need
  23. Am i the only one that is excited for the future and the hunt for our next King?
