  1. Shaw was always going to get called up at some stage and Lallana was called up in Sept 2012 under Adkins
  2. I think Koeman is a more exciting appointment, if not a little more of a gamble. As i said above Bruce wouldnt be my 1st pick, but if it happened id be pleased and would be very excited for next season. Others above are suggesting that appointing Bruce would be an indication of zero ambition and an imminent fire-sale. I wouldnt see it like that atall. I have 3 british managers in my top 5 manager wish list btw, just that Koeman topped it.
  3. Why is Bruce being dismissed so quickly. He's done a fantastic job with Hull last 2 seasons. Hull are in Europe next season thanks to him Are we just dismissing all British managers now? Not saying he's my 1st pick, but we could do a lot, lot worse for sure
  4. Lets take things slow. How about 7th and a decent cup run? We could realistically lose Lambert, Shaw and Lallana and still have a better squad than half the prem. If we replace the outs with decent ins, then who knows. Coyr
  5. Thats fine. Espanyol also lost 2-3 of there best players after Pooch left. They still improved and im convinced our squad will still be good enough. Need a decent manager on/off the pitch and hopefully Koeman's that man.
  6. Espanyol improved after Pooch left and if we keep our squad together im convinced we will too. The team spirit doesnt appear to be as strong as it was under Adkins and hopefully thats something Koeman can help rebuild. Onwards and upwards. Coyr
  7. Lots of snobbery on here. Seems foreign managers are the flavour of the month and also characters and honesty is also now deemed a weakness. All very strange. The game lacks honesty and personality, i found Sherwoods openess refreshing. He also delivered on the pitch last season. Win, win
  8. You dont rate Sherwood? Why?
  9. Sherwood masterminded two defeats over us last season & had an incredible league win % (59%) Wonder if Pooch will get close to that next season? Very much doubt it Id take Sherwood
  10. will be Liverpool away - Lambert and Lallana making debuts and Gazza in goal for us
  11. What do you think we could sell him for this summer? What would he be worth next summer 'IF' he has another season similar to last season? bearing in mind he'll have just 1 year left on his contract. Is it worth the gamble hoping he comes good, or should we cut our losses now and reinvest the transfer fund and wages on someone else? copied your reply from the Latest information thread as this is probably the right place to discuss Gaston.
  12. Im all for taking risks, but after 2 years and potentially gambling on a £20 million loss..... thats where I as a Saints fan draw the line. He's not worth a £20 million gamble - no chance.
  13. Danger of risking / hoping / praying that Gaston does finally deliver is his contract is running down fast. He signed a 4 year contract at the end of August 2012. If he fails to deliver for us again next year, he will have just 1 year left on his contract - how much could we realistically recover then? According to the below website we paid £13,38 Mill for him. take 3 years of underperforming + 1 year left on contract, wed be lucky to get £3m back for him next summer? http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-southampton/transfers/verein/180/saison_id/2012 he could end up costing us £20m!! £10m in transfer fees + a further £10m in wages over 3 years. ouch
  14. £3m + a friendly game each summer for X years for the 25%? http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/11256527._/?
  15. We do have some very precious / sensitive posters it seems. Shame
  16. Perhaps Benali + MLT are to replace Dodds and Williams?
  17. Thanks for the clarification. 2+2=5 on my part. However this is how id imagine deals are brokered and resolved (sometimes). It would be prudent and advisable for us to approach AFCB with such an offer. Like you say £3m to buy out the 25% share is better than 25% of £0
  18. José Enrique + Iago Aspas + Fabio Borini + £10m
  19. See Guan's comments from yesterday - http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?50568-Latest-information&p=1959420#post1959420 His agent or Liverpool could remind Bournemouth that 100% of 3 million pounds is worth more than 25% of £0. Plus he could give up his 'Loyalty' bonus.
  20. Sounds like we have offered AFCB £3m for his 25% share. If we then get 25-30m for him id take it. Could replace him for 8-10m easy Mathieu Valbuena for example CDAJFU if Adam moved on
  21. Ok, ok. Lukaku + £8m for Shaw and use the £8m+ some transfer funds to get The Pea from United.
  22. D:ream - things can only get better
  23. I agree and well said. Seems like the perfect man for the next 5 year plan.
  24. Lallana or Shurlock?
