If you announce Chambers did have a release fee, you also announce that other players do too. Best thing to do is simply keep stum.

Is that a quote from RoKo? Great news if true -

Id be delighted if we could get Townsend. He was superb for England n Spurs before his last injury. Can be a bit greedy, but would offer us some more goal threat. Hopefully not a swap for Morgan, but £10m seems cheap in todays prices

Decent enough as a backup CB. Look at some of the other prem defenders... Chester, Senderos, Dann, Rangel, McShane. Only the top clubs have 2 or 3 great CBs

Let the ball do the work

Stats would reflect that too. We scored over 50% of our goals in the first half last season, and conceded circa 60% of our goals in the 2nd half We did use to tire and we rarely had the quality to replace shattered players from the bench, meaning last 15-20 minutes we were very vulnerable.

Our players / squad put the fear into bigger teams, not the pressing game (imho) Our best squad possibly ever is what scared teams. We would have finished 8th playing pretty much any style or formation (again imho) as we had the 8th best squad last year by a country mile. The pressing game doesnt take much practice, it just needs fitness. Demonstrated by the fact we adopted it within a few days of Mopos arrival ((Everton home)) With our squad last season we would have finished 8th or better regardless, what we will never know is if the pressing game cost us more (cup run) It was naive (imho) to play the pressing game constantly with our small squad. But i think its simply the only way mopo knows how to play. He will/ should be more effective at Spurs due to the size and abilty of the squad, however i think Spurs will be predictable as we were at times last season.

Defo Spurs

For me he is a replacement for Osvaldo - in that respect he doesnt have to do much to be better If he's a Brett Omerod type or a Craig Bellamy or even a Billy Sharp type - who cares. Just so long as he's not an Osvaldo type

doesn’t make him a bad player either. In general good players play for good teams Long is a good solid prem player. If you want to see the potential of Shane Long you should watch the WBA vs Villa game from Nov last season. Long was outstanding and scored two great goals. Granted he doesn’t do that every week, but that’s why he's costing 10-12m and not £35-40m If peeps can look past the 'rumoured' transfer fee they will see we are getting a very decent squad member with Prem experience. He will socre goals for us, he will create goals for us - that is a guarantee.
-
Convert him to a CB? 2 birds one stone
-
Youre playing the long game I see
-
That is a better starting 11 than at least 8/9 other prem teams imho When you have the likes of JWP, Davis, Rodriguez, Reed, Schneiderlin, Yoshida, Cork, Gallagher and Mayuka to come in too, I really dont think things are too bad. If we deliver a decent CB sharpish we should be fine for a mid table finish
-
Hull paid £7.5m for Long in Jan. You'd understand they'd want to make 30% profit if they did sell? That would make £10m Given weve sold 5 players for zillions, you can understand why they'd then want another 20%?
