Can see this from both sides to be honest - Club wants to be "sustainable" but currently our wage/revenue ratios are too high, meaning that we don't have the disposable revenue for player purchases. Without building debt Total revenue just now is c£155 million each year. Our wage bill however is a reported £115m or 75% of turnover. That leaves just c£30-40m each season for all other running costs. Tax, loan repayments, agent fees, sacking managers, stadium repairs, upkeep, training ground expenses ect ect ect When you compare our wage/revenue ratios with other clubs you can see why we cant spend BIG without building debt. Newcastle 53% wage to revenue ratio, Burnley 59%, Brighton 56%, Spurs 39%, WHU 60% The only clubs with a similar sized income and wage bill is Bournemouth and Everton. They have both spent money on players but have built large debts to owners in the process. We have had more opportunities than most to build a decent squad sustainably - player sales have exceeded £300m in recent seasons and most of this has been spent on players. Problem is we have wasted so much on **** players like Carillo, Hoedt, Lemina, Vesty, Moi + 3 sacked managers In the absence of Gao spending his money (building club debt) We urgently need to sell some of the crap that Les bought in, reduce our wage bill in process and then reinvest again. Just need to improve our player purchase success rate + kick start that youth conveyor belt again.

How do you suggest we close the trading loss? Our wage bill (as a % of turnover) is bang average for a premier league side so only modest reductions could realistically be made here. We would need to increase gate and TV monies, commercial revenues and dramatically improve other sources of income? Non of which is going to happen while we fight relegation each season. Strikes me that you'd need to improve revenue streams before you focus on a sustainable model

Would be some story if Leicester AND Sheffield United break the top 4 this season. Very healthy for the EPL

With no direct quotes from RH on his contract. We were discussing IF RH would be tempted to stay without the team investment. Hence the responsible discussion that has continued on finances. Can we spend, should we spend ect. All related to RHs contract.

INCREDIBLE season from Sheffield United. 5th place & 2 points off top 4. Wow

So PBT in 2017 was > £40m PBT in 2018 was > £30m When do we need to STOP selling and START buying. This is what everyone has been asking.

If the winter break and cancelations are leaving you starved of football can I recommend Montpellier vs St Etienne on BT sport (3) at 2pm today. It's got the hallmarks of an absolute thriller. A familiar face, Claude Puel now managing St Etienne and he's doing what he does best - taking last seasons 4th placed side to 6th bottom + a swift Europe exit (easy group too) sound familiar? Natives are restless Snowflakes warning: just playing - I love Puel

I don't think Egg is a "bully" he just has a different opinion! That's fine as this is a forum and ALL genuine opinions are welcome. It's those with NO opinions that make this place very dull. You have an opinion right Gingles?

Finished 1-1 Probably best result for us.

And the "German Messi" Max Meyer on 170k per week.

All you've shown is that Palace have the same debt as us and that Brighton built debt paying for a new stadium, promotion from the championship and training facilities. + Everton owners fund clubs via shares rather than loans and Leicester are proof that you can invest in the club without building loads of debt
-
You're quoting figures from the Club accounts for 2017-18 Same article says we also have debts of c£20m You conviniently left Leicester off your list

1 win in the last 11 now for Palace
