  1. AL.... "But I demand I play CL football next season - pah Saints have no ambition to get there in time to satisfy my self-gratification and bank balance. I don't have time or the commitment to work at it with Saints so I insist I go now, and if I don't, I'll scream and scream and scream until I'm sick" DL.... "But I demand I play CL football next season - pah Saints have no ambition to get there in time to satisfy my self-gratification and bank balance. I don't have the time or commitment to work at it with Saints so I insist I go now, and if I don't, I'll scream and scream and scream until I'm sick" LS.... "Moneeeeeeeeeey!!!! ManUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!" RL...."Liverpoooooooooooool!"
  2. But Saints didn't put the players out for sale, those leaving and who have already left have chosen to go and they wanted to leave to cash-in on their new found fame and because they believe they are too good for Saints. So other than likely pay beyond our means and increase their salaries here, we got the best price we could for them. That's not spectacularly bad management, that's spectacularly self-centred players.
  3. And, leaving aside your 'reality' is pure supposition, do you actually have an issue with this? Or are you really wanting a life in the Championship when you can say "See, I told you so!"
  4. The new strip was good news which helps but, hell's teeth, it's getting flaming tedious seeing all these 'bids' come in for our current players with not a new signing in sight. Yes, I'm impatient!
  5. Could just be a server failure and that's the providers holding page.
  6. I'm a shirt-whore, so I'll buy it (but I'll wait to see the rumoured navy away strip before I do buy)
  7. Not next season, maybe the season after? His 3 year contract suggests he'd be looking to achieve his target (CL or EL qualification maybe) at that point and then look to extend his contract to take it to the next stage. But let's not be too hasty, eh? Teams take time to build and to gel. After this summers turmoil, finishing comfortably mid-table will be good for me. But you never know, we may just be able to put one over on them this coming season - especially when Spuds crash and burn
  8. And let's face it, all you do is mealy-mouthed, depressive, antagonistic, crap with not a good word to say about anything so it would make you redundant as well. Not one piece of constructive argument have you bothered to put on these pages. Only happiest when you're moaning eh?

To give you the benefit of the doubt, I'll presume you said this tongue-in-cheek.

  11. This, and NC did not appreciate 'interference' as NC saw it, or 'proper governance' as KL saw it
  12. Ah well., takes all sorts, f*ckwits included. Your assessment also presumes you know what you're talking about - you obviously think you do - bless.
  13. CFO - Chief Financial Officer (so in charge of the companies purse strings, theoretically) DOF - Footballing director - various titles available
  14. OK, here's something for discussion..... Picture this, a boardroom, moreover the boardroom of an 'un-named' Premier League football club. Gathered around are the owner, the Director of Football, the CEO, the CFO and the Accountants. The subject for discussion, the next 3 years..... Owner: So, do we have the assets to get us a factor higher than we are now, to increase revenue, the maximise profit? I'd like to see some operational profit if nothing else. DOF: Not with the full range of assets we currently have, it's too limited. However, we could acquire sufficiently skilled assets that with guidance could take us to where we want to be financially. We would need to sell though Owner: Sell which ones? The lower end or upper? DOF: Upper, gives us maximum ROI. Owner: But that leaves us with ****? DOF: No, relatively speaking they're still PL quality. But we will need to invest, probably with 'foreign' skills - cheaper, need honing over a season or two, but good natural skills. Owner: And how much more will this cost me? DOF: Realistically? Not a lot, possibly nothing. Sales => purchases if planned well, even if not, no more than you were planning to invest anyway. Essentially non-UK players are 50% cost-wise, so 2 for one - a case of BOGOF in effect. This builds the squad as opposed to just the team, which is much more than we have been used to, so allows us, with this depth of skills, to consider competing in the Europa League - Champs League is a few years off yet but with the Academy and some good fortune maybe not so many seasons away. Owner: CFO - any questions? CFO: Only the FFP perspective - are there any adverse considerations we need to take into account? DOF: Since all the costs are, in effect, self contained, no. Owner: So performance wise, over the nest 3 years, what should I see? DOF: Mid-table next season, Europe League the following couple of seasons, but maybe, just maybe, challenging for CL in the third. Owner: Is our new manager up to it? DOF: Perfomance to date suggests he is Owner: CFO, any objections? CFO: Providing we can be as near as possibly self-sustaining, then with the Sky money etc and no more unexpected Staplewood costs, no, no objections Owner: Accountants: any objections, comments? Accountants: Only that from a personal perspective, cash injections into the company, unless in the form of a loan, albeit an interest free one, should be kept to a minimum where possible. Owner: But I could go mad if I wanted to? Accountant: Don't go there, please! Owner: OK, in that case - COF - Make it happen
  15. You miss the point - why does he 'deserve' anything? He's left us to develop his own (selfish) ends. Don't blame him tbh, just don't see the point in offering any support to him any longer. He's no longer one of 'us' and he only got gratitude whilst he was - now he's just a "self-seeking money grabber" - aren't fans so fickle (much like the players, so well matched)
  16. Not cynical, realistic. Not abusive, simply dismissive - I no longer care about his performances other than he fails as I hope of every other player not wearing a Saints shirt. His loyalty is to himself and his family and whoever he currently plays for and I have utterly no problem with this - the point is I no longer have any support/loyalty/feelings for him or any other player who leaves for a competitor - whoever they are - my loyalty is towards SFC ...leaving aside the complete lack of belief AL/LS/RL have in the capabilities of SFC progressing further than they already have and that really p|sses me off!
  17. No hatred, just no longer on my 'radar'. He is now the 'enemy' - so may he C&B as I say. Loyalty is a two way street.
  18. B@ll@cks - of course it's all about the money - witness LS and where he's gone.
  19. Players come, players go. Whilst they're here, they have my unswerving loyalty and support. Once they go, they no longer warrant my loyalty - what is in the past has passed - may they crash and burn and may SFC p|ss all over whoever their wafer thin allegiance is currently with. End of.
  20. So a world record price for LS is cheap? The price we accept in effect buys out the contract, that's the point. Yes they are 'contracted' but, I say again, the might dollar rules. As it happens, I'm a freelancer that works to contracts (I can actually have more than one at once - that would be good in football eh?), and in my business, no-one (and I mean no-one) breaks a contract - it harms your rep and it's your rep that gets you work. It is obviously way different in the footballing world. The message we send is "with our development you too will be worth millions and in a couple or so seasons, you too could be picked by the top clubs - ambition and potential" Long term business. Oh, and "insulting the board by the way only serves to weaken your argument and are not relevant" Touché
  21. Dependent upon who you believe, it is anything from £45M to £52.25M (Shaw being £27M to £34M)
  22. God almighty, how naive (to be polite) can you get? When the mighty dollar calls, it wins, no matter who you are or how strong you believe you are, end of - grow up!
  23. 5 year plan has finished - there's now a 3 year plan - whatever it might be. Just like AL and LS have no loyalty to us, nor do I to them - may they crash and burn in their first season - I'll certainly not welcome them back when LFC or MUFC play here. RL is borderline. Bring on the new era for Saints - who knows where the journey will take us, but I'll be there.
  24. Part of me feels a tad sorry for the lad. He is going to have a lot to live up to with £30m on his shoulders - that could start to weigh awfully heavy.
