I note that Burnley (and maybe others) offer the option of buying a sponsor free shirt. Really wish Saints had done that.

Just so sad. He came across as such a nice guy. RIP.

The fact that we didn’t win 4-0, was the players fault! The fact that we didn’t manage the game to a 1-0 win was Martin’s fault.

Well said!

Great trip and terrific second half performance. Fair play to Plymouth who were decent and well organised and pushed us all the way. Great atmosphere and support. Shame about some of the kn*bheads, particularly the couple of lads outside proudly parading the seat backs they’d obviously vandalised off!

Southampton fans from Salisbury and Basingstoke

Don’t really see the point of this thread but with society so much more transient than ever so it follows that supporters will come from further afield. I lived in London for 30 years (before moving back to Hampshire) and I remember back in the 80s that as a group ‘London Saints’ members would get a hard time by some Southampton based fans. With every home game an ‘away’ game, Saints fans travelling a distance show greater dedication than any! -
What sums up the whole turgid season is the pure number of contenders. But for me, Forest at home was the worst I’ve seen in 55 years of watching Saints! Questioning my sanity in attending the return on Monday!

Scorers against Liverpool were Prutton and Crouch (Prutton assist). His best game for Saints. Charlton was in the previous season.

His Mum lived in Hull. Bit of a commute!

Cannot get over how negative our approach was against a team that looked so fragile in the early stages. We were breaking up the play and wasting time from the very start. Scoring goals simply didn’t seem to be part of the agenda. Selles is obviously looking towards more experienced players but when they include Jan B, Ely and a horribly out of form Stuart Armstrong, it ain’t gonna work.

His comments on Saturday have sort of backed himself into a corner. Terrible thing to say but I can’t help but think we need to get a pasting for the greater good!

Redmond was frustrating because you knew he had the talent. I never get that feeling with Elynoussi.

London Saints is a well organised and established supporters (really covers the whole South East region). In the days before internet, the club was vital when it came to getting hold of tickets and arranging cheap group train travel. These services still exist and it has good sports and social activities. https://www.londonsaints.com Now live back in Hampshire but still attend St Mary’s with the friends that I made following Saints home and away in my 30 years living in London.

Such a consistent player in the very best of Saints teams. RIP Spike!

Knowing I was going to St Mary’s, my drinking was done beforehand!

As previously mentioned The Killers were terrific but as for SFC….. Chatted to another Saints fan in the queue for the bar (obviously a lengthy chat) and once we’d finished on the team we got onto the ground. Concourse areas are a shambles and there is nothing ‘Saints’ about the ground. The Amex has posters of ex Brighton players (most of whom I’ve never heard of) but there is no nod to our past unless you count the tatty effort on the bridge. Anyway finally got to the bar and asked for a bitter, lager, cider and a glass of wine. Came away with 4 lagers as they’d run out of everything else!

With Tella and Minamino added to Armstrong we had 3 players who were direct and looking to get the ball forward. Bit more composure and could have been 4 or 5. Time for a beer!
-
Decent line-up. Tella deserves his place - very positive!

Really don't understand why Sims isn't being considered as a sub. Relatively experienced player (albeit in lower divs) but ideal sub running at tired defenders.
