Was that assist the mis-controlled touch that got away from him? Its not people "not giving him a chance" or criticising too early, this is someone who is 9 games away from having played 100 games for us, and still doesn't have a best position, still doesn't change games or win matches. If he wasn't from the academy, I don't think people would have been as patient with him as they have been.

In 2013/14 we had Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Guly do Prado, Callum Chambers, Dejan Lovren, Jack Cork AND Luke Shaw. So that's loads of ex saints in one team.

If we want to be a consistently top half team, competing for spots in europe, we need more than players who do "OK" and occasionally play well. I've never seen him have a huge impact on a game, I know he's young, but I really don't rate him. As above, too slow, too indecisive and doesn't do enough to justify starting, in my opinion. With tadic, juanmi, davis, long, jay rod, mane looking to play the creative roles, I don't know what he does to justify ever being picked ahead any of them...

If it's true we had a scout at the game between Shalke and Twente, are there any other players from those teams that would fit the bill for "us kind of signings"? When scouts go to a match they don't have to say who they're looking at, so it could be that BILD made the assumption it was this guy? As we've signed players from Twente before it seems unlikely we'd have been looking at their players as we must have a fair bit of knowledge of their players, so assuming we were looking at Shalke, are any of their CB's any good that we could have been looking at?

I think United to win the league. Chelsea, City and Arsenal to round out the top 4. Liverpool next, Spurs and then us / swansea / everton / stoke. palace maybe to sneak top 10 instead of stoke. Could see all three promoted teams getting relegated although would like to see any of villa, leicester or sunderland to go down

No one has said they don't want to see an injection of quality...just people aren't as quick so worry! Remember Toby only signed on deadline day and he turned out to be OK last season...

The club have also consistently said that we don't do our transfers in the public domain. The Juanmi and Soares signings were both only rumoured very close to when they were completed. Wouldn't be surprised if the club were working on a deal with someone and we don't know about it. I'd start to get a bit worried / frustrated if we don't have someone in by the Newcastle game, but not yet...

The positive of drawing Vitesse is that they are an opponent that Clasie, Pelle, Tadic and Koeman will know and come up against recently.
