Twitter has just erupted with "Done deal" tweets, nothing official from either club or BBC or Sky Sports yet though...

I used to play CB for my age group, my specialty was giving the striker acres of space to run into by not concentrating and then getting back with a last ditch tackle. Looked good but our keeper used to hate me for it. Mind you, he was 6'7 and had a habit of getting lobbed so I wasn't too fond of him either.

Apparently we've got a new one now. Doesn't seem to have helped.

Didn't Ralph say that he wanted to raise the profile of the club? We're certainly getting our name about, we're all over The Sport Bible and all the footy jokes accounts on Twitter this morning, so mission accomplished, I don't know why all you think he's incompetent.

I hope that after the summer we have had we can maintain our status as "surprise package" if we do alright!

He is 30 though, I can't work out if we'd sign him as our first choice as that surely will be Pellé. Id rather have Ings as our second choice than this guy (based purely on age, as I have no idea what this guy is like.)

Oh shush, we haven't lost 6. So far we have definitely lost 4 and it seems increasingly likely one more will be added to that. So 5. Schneiderlin is up in the air but so far the majority of the panic from that one is coming from paper talk. In summer 2012 Fulham lost Dembele, Etuhu, Johnson, Murphy, Pogrebnyak, Helge Riise, Orlando Sa and Clint Dempsey. 8 first teamers! In the same window, the scousers lost Kuyt, Bellamy, Aquilani, Rodriguez, Aurelio and Charlie Adam, so 6 first team players. They weren't all as integral as the 4 we have lost so far, but my point is that the figures are not unheard of. Looking back, summer 2012 seemed a bit of a merry go round as Spurs sold Sebastian Bassong, Vedran Corluka, Steven Pienaar, Niko Kranjcar, Luka Modric, Louis Saha, Giovanni dos Santos and Rafael van der Vaart that summer. I might add, as well, that none of those players (Bar van der Vaart or Modric) went for the silly kind of prices that we have received for our 4 sold players.

At least it's a day off for someone!

Gaston is running the game, he is popping up every where and seems to decide the tempo. Lost it a couple of times but is looking really up for this.

It's impossible to know before a competitive ball has been kicked how effective he will be or his comparative pedigree to what went before, but looking only at a managers track record before they joined Saints, it can not be argued that he has the best CV - as a player and manager. Why Saints? Well, what other top 8 premier league jobs were available this summer? Apart from United, who got Van Gaal in early doors. That could be part of the reason - we were simply the most attractive top flight proposition available, looking at it from the most basic level.

Talksaints on twitter reckon Chambers has completed a medical at Arsenal. Can't see why they'd need him, having signed Debuchy and already having Jenkinson (I know Chambers is better than Jenkinson but we would surely want big money for Chambers and I can't see why Arsenal would pay big money for a back up to Debuchy when they have adequate cover already)

I suppose the one good thing about the sales that we have made this summer is that our players are only going to much bigger clubs, like Liverpool, Manchester United, and erm...Cardiff...

It appears to be quite a one sided rivalry. A bit like England's rivalry with Germany, who are largely indifferent to us but instead have a big rivalry with Holland.

I know you expanded and included "players from Holland" which both our new signings are, but neither Tadíc or Pellè are Dutch.
