Jordi Amat has been ruled out for 6 weeks, so, (obviously) will miss this one for them.

Apart from getting skinned by Tadic, heading straight to Jovetic, being beaten by Aguero as if he wasn't there and not marking properly at a corner vs Villa, I do think he has been playing his best all game, every game so far

Yeah, that's the one - would have been pleased had we signed him, and like you would be interested to know if we were in for him.

I think Hernandez will score more goals than Long this year, although having said that, Long's work rate is amazing and he really gives us something different. Really enjoying seeing him in a Saints shirt

S-Clarke to the board please, can you give me an update on how there is nothing about Hernandez that suggests he will be any good? Has shown a few nice flicks so far, good workrate to win the ball back a few times and has scored! Good header, terrible celebration...

BBC claimed that he was lacking match fitness in their match build up, and Sky said he was ready to make his début in theirs! Watching the game tonight to see if (and how) he gets on. Think he will link up well with Hernandez (purely as they play together for Uruguay). Must be odd playing West Ham twice in a row for him! Wonder if Alex Song is pleased he swapped Barcelona for Hull on a Monday night...

Morgan didn't actually have his greatest game in a Saints shirt. There were a few cases in the first half where Sissoko went past him with relative ease, although Morgan had a good, solid game and scored a great goal, I am sure there would have been midfielders in the league who had a better game than him this weekend. A more surprising omission from the "Team of the Week" for me was Alderwiereld. Obviously he will come up against a lot stronger opposition in a Saints shirt this year, but I don't remember anybody getting past him. He won everything in the air, and one particular tackle sticks in the memory for me where out by the left corner flag late in the second half he got turned inside and out by Cabella and then just when it looked like he was going to beat Toby and go past him he slid in, got all of the ball and left Cabella on the deck. Dejan who?

Sounds like he's been having a tough time of it at Reading but the fans do seem to like him. They've had to sell certain players, some with and without his consent just to stave off administration so he's been playing a lot of kids, I think he's given 4 or 5 youngsters their professional debut's this year, and doing a good job of it. I do believe he could and should have done better than Reading, but to have gotten then to within one point of the playoffs last year and having won four of the seven games they've played this year, I don't think he's having as bad a time as it looks!

The fee seems high, but there were so many factors going into it that it was always going to be if we really wanted to get him. He'd only just signed, was on a long contract, they didn't need to sell and he was a first team starter for them and they knew we had cash! I'm surprised he didn't cost more, considering Hated the idea of seeing Shane Long in a saints kit when I first heard about the rumour, but having seen him play vs Millwall and West Ham I am convinced that even though he won't score many, he is going to be a good player for us this year!

But does the squad as a whole not relate to your initial point? "On the basis of the players at his disposal, he perhaps did underachieve" - the players he had at his disposal were pretty dire past the first XI, and even then we were weak in certain positions on the park! If Adkins had the squad we have now then I believe he would do a great job of it. We had gone 12 games unbeaten when he got sacked, and we were regularly fielding teams that were full of dross and had no room in the squad for injury or suspension. Going 12 games unbeaten and being the right side of the relegation zone, with the players he had at his disposal, was him overachieving, in my eyes!

I don't think anyone is coming across as angry, and to be honest, I find it difficult to imagine anyone seriously angry on an internet forum. You are coming across however, as boring...

Saintbletch, if you have the time, maybe it would be good practice to re-read all of the diatribe's you have just posted, and then have a quick look at the first post I've quoted above. Your display pic is ridiculously appropriate, by the way!

The players Adkins had at his disposal? Is that the same Nigel Adkins who had to go to Manchester City on the first day of the season with Dan Seaborne on the bench? In the season that Steve de Ridder inexplicably got Premier League game time and when Kelvin Davis, Jos Hooiveld and Danny Fox were all first team starters? What a team!

Just bought tickets for this one. Looking back, probably should have got a season ticket! Been to Millwall and West Ham and seen us win by two goal margins each time. Hoping for a similar outcome here!
