Flashbacks to Puel. Nuno gets results though. Bielsa looks the goods. I love the way Leeds are counter attacking. They get so many forward. Probably the most entertaining club this season as a neutral.

I believe the intent is to develop more English players. That's why I said "based on" rather than "is". If the rule didn't exist, do you think the number of English players would be the same or less? In the Bundesliga it's explicitly stated, each club needs to have 12 German players. The EPL rule is more lax but imo still increases the number of English players getting games or at least contracts. It's part of the broader EPPP to better develop young English players and hopefully create more English professional footballers. https://www.goalreports.com/EPLPlan.pdf "When analysing the contact time for players being coached in competing European clubs, the data shows that players in European clubs can receive up to twice as much formal coaching and practice than players in the English system. As a result, when English clubs come to make decisions to offer scholarships or contracts, English boys will typically have had significantly less opportunity to practice. Unless clubs have taken local action to enhance their programmes, these players are placed at a distinct disadvantage to their European counterparts." -

wow, who's the fool? The homegrown quota was part of the FA's Elite Player Performance Plan. https://web.archive.org/web/20160422012902/http://www.premierleague.com/content/premierleague/en-gb/youth/elite-player-performance-plan.html ""When you strip it down to its most fundamental, the EPPP is about creating an environment where a local boy, developed in his local club from eight or nine years of age, can go on to pull on a first-team shirt of the club that he has grown up at."This is every boy's dream and, while in reality only a lucky few will achieve it, the EPPP for all its focus on the science of elite development sets out to ensure that this dream can remain a reality for the next generation of young players."" -

Sounds like most of you think the FA should scrap the homegrown player requirements. That's a quota based on race. But in reality i'd guess most of you want to keep that one in place. Most FA's have it to encourage talent development from their own country, it serves a positive purpose. That's the key to any quota. Affirmative action has a place imo. -
You always hear the rumors of player power at barca which imo is why they don't get the top managers anymore. They need to rebuild without Messi and Suarez. Huge signings required. Koeman will want to spend a lot as he did here and at Everton.

What if we offered him a new 5 year contract to help his confidence?

How did the premier league accept Gao as a director along with all our dodgy sponsors and then hold up the Newcastle bid. It's probably for the best for us but really strange the deal didn't go through. -
It will need all the big clubs to create their own super league to then allow a salary cap domestic league. I wouldn't rule it out one day.
-
Agree with this. It's what held Liverpool back for years until they bought Alisson and VVD. Even more important for us when we only play 2 in CM. Not much cover in front of our CBs. I'd be happy if the club didn't go for another young CB with re-sell value but someone solid and reliable to lead the defence.
-
Looks like he lunges in A LOT. This guys going to give away a lot of penalties in between making clutch tackles. How is he in the air? We need a dominant aerial CB like VVD was against the bigger stronger forwards.
-
They have 4 games in 9 days so if we're lucky they'll play a rotated lineup. Could see lovren and lallana starting. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Unless it's Gao getting money out of china and then pulling it out of the club into a British account. In which case we're losing out on a sponsor that pays nothing. Do LD even have any revenue? Will be very interesting to see the club financials in March. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Which wouldn't change if it was feet only. It's silly that because an attackers leaning forward with their shoulders that they're offside. What's that shoulder actually going to do? It's the feet that count in getting you onto the ball when it arrives.
-
There's two levels of this. The first is being self sustainable by reinvesting what the club earns from all sources: sponsorship, tickets, merchandise, prize money, tv. The 2nd is only buying players with money made from player sales and pocketing the rest. Kat and Gao are guilty of this. We're beyond self sustainable, we're a year on year profit maker for our owners. They're milking us. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

I think the issue with all these close calls, not just in our game but throughout the league, is that strikers are leaning forward as they hit the line, while defenders are sometimes going the other way to create an offside trap. So the defender could have more of his body behind the attacker but the strikers leaning shoulder is getting him called offside. I wouldn't be opposed to them changing the rule to only measure feet and not the thighs/torso/head etc. It's not like the ball instantly arrives so the feet are the critical part to move into an offside position.

Everyone completely missing the point that fake transfer news can also be misdirection to try to get another move done. We know agents do it all the time. "My player has interest from Chelsea and liverpool". Why wouldn't clubs spread false targets to speed up negotiations with another. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Can't see our director's turning down £40m when they see we still have Long and Carillo on the books. Hopefully no one bids. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Bizarre sacking. Made a CL final last season... Spurs struggling this season is down to player unrest with wanting more money which Levy won't give. The new contracts stopped this season after year on year renewals for most of the top players. Poch is the scapegoat. Player greed and chairman purse string tightening is the issue. Our accounts show we've made £65m profit over the last 2 seasons. That means we could've bought 4 £30-35m players rather than 4 £15-20m players and still been a self funded sustainable club. Ofcourse there's no guarantee that spending more = more success but you'd expect us to be in a much stronger position than we are. As it is, we're one of the lowest spenders so we're expected to be one of the worst performers. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Dress up in winnie the pooh costumes holding free Hong Kong signs. We can't hurt his wallet by not attending (and hurt the team) but we can hurt his wallet with political pressure. We'll be outcast in china, banned from all coverage so he'll be inclined to sell the club. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

The all new relegation priced thread 2019 (it gets earlier every year!).

Sunderland survived the 8-0. It's way too early to call it in but we're always going to be skirting with relegation year on year with our level of investment. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk -
How blessed were we with VVD, toby, younger Fonte, spiderman and Wanyama. None of our current lot can hold a candle to them Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
