  1. I’d rather have 2 quality players for that one position than not? We’d still be making a profit and also competition makes the team/squad better Plus he’ll be worth at least £18m and £25m if Newcastle want to come calling. Then it’s up to us to use that money to find two £6m players because the other £6m will go towards agent fees that no other club has 😬
  2. Also for any cricket enthusiasts out there England playing the West Indies in WC WI currently 42/6 so that’ll be the halftime watch. (PS. Test Cricket is better)
  3. LIVRAMENTOOOO!
  4. Man City would be 4-1 up in this situation... A shame as we’re making chances just cannot finish
  5. Redmond omg even worse.
  6. Walcott everything but the finish...
  7. Not going to panic yet, Tino switched off for one moment, unfortunately in PL you only learn the hard way. However our final third play is shocking. Perraud awful cross there, earlier Walcott whilst offside plays the worst cut back I’ve seen...It’s like no one is aware of their surroundings
  8. Walcott has to justify his £75k a week somehow so I guess today is the day. Or perhaps Ralph has one eye on the Chelsea game so thinks it is better squad management to save Djenepo for that and let Walcott play the "perceived"/on-paper easier game. Or perhaps Ralph is protecting Djenepo from the physical shithousery that is to come this afternoon.
  9. The opponents today too - the inside scoop suggests their new signing Cornet(to) starting as part of a two with Chris Wood.
  10. Same team as last week except Walcott in, Djenepo out.
  11. hmm you think so? I look at their team and it all screams Championship to be honest... just watch us lose in a few weeks time now
  12. Sky Sports- Dave Jones prediction: Southampton 0-1 Burnley Southampton are easily swerved at odds-on here. They might have got their first win of the season in their deserving 1-0 victory over Leeds but I'm still very doubtful of their ability to finish the chances they create. A shot conversion rate of five per cent this season - only two teams have posted lower - isn't something I can see improving as the season develops. Burnley are one of those teams with a lower conversion rate but the numbers show they are creating a better quality of chance for their forwards. According to Opta, Burnley have missed 10 'big chances' this season as their search for a first win goes on despite having led for 173 minutes in matches, only seven clubs have led for more. In fact, they've led for 33 minutes more than Manchester United. Sean Dyche will be targeting this game as where Burnley's season can finally start. At 3/1 with Sky Bet, they are the value call. BBC Sport- Lawro: Southampton 2-1 Burnley Burnley are still waiting for their first league win of the season but Southampton got theirs against Leeds last week, which was big for them. The Clarets put up a decent fight in their defeat at Manchester City but that is the least I expect from them. Goals seem hard to come by, which is a worry. Southampton are hardly prolific themselves, but I think they will edge this one.
  13. Joe Hart writing "job done" after his team [Spurs] lost last season
  14. Only because he hasn't really made the bench much or featured in the league cup games but if that is due to fitness then I didn't know that I'm not advocating buying a left back at all, if that's due to fitness then no problem I'm happy for Small to be given time to get up to speed because the position isn't a pressing issue at all. I'm not sure exactly when Tino signed but I don't think it was till early August - you could argue he didn't get a "full" pre-season either.
  15. If we want 2 quality players in each position, then you could argue we don't have a second left back assuming Thierry Small is a purchase for the "B"/U23 team. Also CM as you say, we only have 3 there but I think Ralph will use Stu Armstrong there should we get injuries. Also at ST - if we get rid of Long in Jan we would have 3 there too (assuming Redmond, Walcott and Tella are seen as wide no. 10s) However, I think a GK and extending some contracts will be the focus. I hope Alex McCarthy doesn't get a huge payrise though; his pay should reflect that of a reserve GK for a bottom 10 side; this is our best opportunity in ages to try and buy a solid GK to cement for next few years
  16. Anyone know where this came from or where it originated from? Has he explicitly said that he has to stay in the south? Just seems so odd to limit yourself geographically, especially given that a PL manager's wage would offset the relocation costs etc etc that the average person would face.
  17. I don't think it would hurt to have the NHS app ready to show evidence - I think you can even take a screenshot as once double-vaccinated the pass lasts for 1 month so that avoids any potential network issues However, it isn't mandatory and I wasn't checked for the United and West Ham games.
  18. because he is young, hungry and guaranteed to improve!
  19. Slightly odd/rash thing to say only 8 games in. If he can't break into Southampton's team, then whose is he gonna break into? Only candidate in the upper bracket/top 10 from us is Everton. We'd demand at least £20m too I'd say, I wonder who would pay that for a sub fullback (insert Man City joke here) It's good to finally have some competition for once.
  20. Ideal world I wouldn't, depends on whether the players are feeling tired as full-back is quite a demanding position. Ralph and the coaches have that data. If not tired, then play Tino/KWP or KWP/Perraud or Tino/Perraud against Chelsea. Djenepo is just one of my alternatives for left back as I wouldn't want Yan Valery to play that game, and I don't think Thierry Small is ready yet. Shane Long is also in our squad, but again doesn't mean I want to particularly use him.
  21. Anyone else think even if we were on the verge of going down, we persist with him in the Championship to help try and get us back up again? I think I probably would As Lord D would say, "long live the teflon cult that is Ralph with his choir boy Ward-Prowse"
  22. Great sample size to be able to suggest that hypothesis... My answer is too early to judge against an injury plagued Leeds side at home. However, I get the feeling that as last seasons injury proved, Romeu really is the more important midfielder as we have no proper like for like replacement, whereas Diallo can slot in seamlessly for JWP.
  23. I think I'd like to play same team that started today, but I have one eye on the Chelsea game because I love a cup run. As we have 3 quality fullbacks, I'd contemplate the one change from today and drop Djenepo for Stuart Armstrong, and then using KWP and Djenepo as fullbacks for the Chelsea game. It means we might be able to have a decent stab against Chelsea, starting Walcott, Tella, Adams (if fit) and Adam Armstrong in the front 4 for the midweek game. At the same time though, we should be able to play our best players 3 times in one week, it's not like our lot do it regularly, top class players manage PL then Champions League just fine...
  24. If I had to guess, I'd say Bertrand, but I have a feeling Jannik Vestegaard took one? Or perhaps he just lined up for it but never took it. Mind you, I have no way of confirming it's just a hunch. Otherwise I am thinking Lemina 3 years ago, I feel like he stepped up for one or two.
  25. From a Saints fan perspective? A neutral 3rd party might argue that we could have targeted 3 points against a pre-takeover Newcastle side but given how historically shit we do most of the time, I would have settled for a point there. The Wolves game was the only game which I was hoping more from prior to the game.
