Honestly so much looked wrong with that goal. Lose the ball in a stupid position. Lyanco/Salisu don’t close Zaha down. The shot was basically near post/in the centre, can GK hold his position better. There goes any optimism.

I'm liking the look of that, nice to see Ralph try something different we all hope it pays off. Now if we can start managing better in-game too that would be useful, I have no doubt we will start amazing but then usually all it takes is for the opposition manager to clock-on and make a positive change which changes game in favour and Ralph is slow to react. I really wouldn't look into these quotes much. Of course he is going to say the blindingly obvious, do you want him to give away the tactics of how we will go about scoring goals? Mind you, recently there doesn't seem to be any but you get my point - these people are media trained to keep it simple.

If I even try to imagine that it sounds incredibly silly. I get that football is a fluid game but if we have one in the number 10 and one wide, it means we are giving up one whole potential side to attack. Or equally, that's one whole side the opposition has space in. I don't think the 4222 works- Ralph doesn't have the players to make it work, or it's just not suited for the PL, or we've just been found out with it. Perhaps it is a combination of all 3.

I don't even think Dele would fit into the 4222 formation. We'd be shafting him out wide really. Ever since we sold our soul to the 4222 it seems like our scouts don't try to look for a Tadic/No. 10 "in-the hole" position anymore, players who generally possess better passing abilities and can change the game with a defence splitting pass.

Under our rubbish spell during Koeman he used to go to a back 3/5 to shore us up and make us compact. Ralph does the same thing week after week it seems like insanity. I’d play a 3421 Caballero Lyanco - Bedarek - Salisu KWP - JWP - Romeu - Perraud Redmond - Djenepo Adams If Adams/Broja/Armstrong not fit, then probably Tella. For substitutions, I’d use Elyounoussi and even Tino to be honest in an attacking position! I’d probably actually drop JWP also but that won’t happen. If we have KWP bursting forward then JWP can drop back and annoy Zaha preferably.
