For all the conspiracists out there, Newcastle have played 19 games and Thursdays fixture is the first one they’ve had off. Unless the conspirators are suggesting that Newcastle had planned their covid outbreak to coincide with more winnable fixtures because they’d written off their last 4 fixtures already (Utd, City, Liverpool, Leicester), then perhaps there is an argument. For the record though, I do think the PL will call off Sunday because 4/5 days usually isn’t enough to contain an outbreak, but it does make me wonder is the PL verifying these PCR tests or do they simply just take the respective club doctors’ word for it?! Otherwise there really is room to manipulate.

Matt Holland on TV tryna sell JWP off to the vultures Franny had a “if looks could kill” vibe, why do pundits just enjoy talking about whether our players could fit in the system of a big 6 club.

I’m half glad it is something Ralph has worked on. If we rewind the clock 11 months, us going down to 10 men would have a 5-1 capitulation all over it. That’s Leicester back end of last season and now tonight where we’ve shown we can be compact. Pundits often say sometimes it is harder to break down a 10-man team so over the moon it worked in our favour.

FT 1-1!!!
-
5 minutes added on.
-
KWP heroicism there talk about putting your head where it hurts
-
Just feels like delaying the inevitable here but no one can complain at a 1-1 here
-
Must be so frustrating for Ralph to not have Lyanco or Stephens available. I’m contemplating whether we take Long off for Romeu, and play a 3-5-1 and also put Broja on for either Armstrong. Broja did an excellent job as lone striker, might lack service but we only need one lucky break as long as we keep it watertight

OFFSIDE GET IN

Kane now 2-1 Spurs. Ffs.
-
Could it not count for the FA cup instead against Swansea? I know different competition but still a domestic cup? Although are we talking about Salisu or KWP here
-
Same. This could have been a good game and advert for the PL but the referee had to ruin it with inconsistent and what looks like biased decisions. A great shame, however theres 45m left and I hope Spurs look leggy 2nd half.
-
Even the commentators glossed over it. I’d like to see it again. We need to add Taylor to the Mike Dean/Mason list cos this is the most one sided refereeing performance I’ve seen (excluding the aforementioned) since Kevin Friend against Liverpool.

1-1 fuck off
-
Spurs penalty ffs.
-
Booking Ralph ffs Ralph didn’t even look too aggressive in that. Taylor is a cunt just riding off that Eriksen incident otherwise he don’t deserve to ref.
-
I think Anthony Taylor is being incredibly harsh to be honest. It’s a contact sport Salisu’s could have just done with a verbal caution. Even KWP I felt was soft.

Huge stand-up comedian in the UK and more recently presents TV shows I think. In 2009-2012 I think he was like highest grossing comedian in the world so big name.
-
Michael McIntyre is at the ground everyone. I’ll save the puns for later but I guess because judging by some of our passes there are a few comedians in the ground today
-
Shane Long in 2015/16 I reckon would score that... close but a half chance.

Spurs 50.3% Draw 26.9% Saints 22.8% Amazon Prime just showed the above as the result probabilities, not too far off my predictions then!
-
Initial look and I’m thinking wtf, where is Che Adams or have I missed something. However before the hindsighters dig up this post later in the thread I’ll reserve judgement How drained does Tella have to be for instance to see Long start. I only hope this is to put him in the shop window for somewhere.

I'm looking forward to this one after yesterday. I'm also siding to a Spurs win but honestly I think all 3 results are possible, before yesterday I'd have said probability is 80% Spurs win, 15% draw, 5% Saints, but now I'd say 50% Spurs, 30% draw and 20% Saints. So still not optimistic but we'll need everything to fall our way. I'd say keep the same team as yesterday, but rotate Walcott, Elyounoussi and Redmond if we can for alternatives. I'd also consider Perraud in for Tino depending on fitness. Son and Kane scoring is just inevitable though, so 2-1 to Spurs.

Right back from the game and an extended shower to hopefully wash away any London Omicron variant! As for the away end, great support and it was pleasant to see all Saints fans get involved with the Yellows from kids to families. As for the stadium tho, WHU having the cheek to charge £5.50 for a 440ml tin of Heineken, more fool me for buying that piss I suppose. Although, after full time they were giving away free pies so I guess that made up for it a little bit. Now onto the game, but to keep it short and sweet, Broja was easily my MOTM. Run them ragged, was very direct and if memory serves me correctly I think he even won all 3 yellow cards for WHU. I also genuinely think Saints fans played a huge role in getting that penalty, it was clear as daylight to us all Broja was through on goal and literally hacked down, it was nice to see all the players in the refs face for once to almost put pressure on VAR to have a look. My next shoutout will go to Salisu, lad was a rock today and I hope will only get better. I think everyone was pretty par, Redmond disappointed me and both goals we conceded definitely showed we’re still somewhat fragile. Forster won a fair few punches today which I think we can give more credit than usual for. The home fans booing for him “timewasting” was amusing. However, it’s 3 points and a very late Christmas present so thank you Saints! The table is certainly looking better.

This is something I've wondered re. McCarthy's new contract because my opinion has always been that we should offer him a reduced salary in line with that of a No. 2 GK whilst we go out and find another one. However, the Athletic reports differently per the snippet below, and if true then that is frustrating:
