REDMOND 1-0
-
I think Simon Hooper was the ref in the Palace game last month.
-
I’ve just noticed, Obafemi starts for the Swans. I’d like to think we should easily keep him quiet.
-
The flashscores app is showing the same thing!!!
-
Coverage begins at 5:20pm on channel 952 for those on Sky. Otherwise I think red button will work

Burnley have lost at home to Huddersfield, and they put a somewhat strong-ish side out too.

I agree with you, I don't think they should use it until all fixtures in a tie can implement it. These are some of the following reasons as to why the FA Cup is undermined with its inconsistent use: a) there will not be uniformity in the refereeing b) a potential imbalance in sporting standards for example, this hypothetical scenario: two matches are being played simultaneously, both of which are tied with a minute or two to play; identical goals are scored by the away teams right at the death, but in one of these matches a Premier League club is at home and VAR intervenes to call play back for a very narrow offside call. The goal is awarded in the other. If two matches in the same competition can have identical situations that result in wildly different outcomes because of the inconsistent application (or non-application) of technology, then surely we can only surmise that there is something fundamentally wrong with the competition itself. VAR also changes the way PL players play on the pitch. For example, Chesterfield players may not be used to playing to the whistle as much as Chelsea players will be - we know with VAR linesmen now raise their flags less.

I just don’t get why the club hasn’t announced McCarthy’s extension if he supposedly has signed one? What benefit is there to delaying the announcement? Or have the sources just got it entirely wrong?
-
I'd very much like someone who can exploit that 3rd part. Considering there is over 2+ billion Indian and Chinese folk, it always amazes me that there isn't at least 1 PL level footballer in there! Unearthing one might boost the club enormously, though I'd like to know how much our presence increased in China under Gao's ownership.

Yep agreed, but also think the subsequent seasons have offered some form of a reality check. It just really isn't possible for any club outside the Big 6 to sustain competing for a top 7 spot every season, but I think Reed was believing in the hype that we'd unearth gems on both the player and manager front year on year. I also can't remember if there was also the squad threw their toys out of the pram, because if they had then there was no point keeping Puel on for the subsequent season because that would only end one way. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I think Puel did okay in the circumstances but it was best for both parties to move on.

This is what I am also hoping Ankersen can come in and rectify. This applies to all clubs, but part of running a football team is knowing exactly when to sell/release your best players. Not just us, but you could argue United should have sold Lingard/Pogba/Mata etc when they had the chance instead of warming their bench, or equally perhaps Spurs should have accepted £120m for Kane to reinvest. I think I'd like to know more about Dan's contract before concluding the 3 year contract was a waste. If it is let's say £2k a week, then that's only a c. £312k outlay for someone we could even sell for £500,000 for instance. This is why you should never use 1 game as a sample size, because he looked okay against Shrewsbury last season but it just hasn't worked out for him.

Yep, also I think FFP uses accounting profit rather than pure cash profits which means there is more room to spend as long as that makes the Accounts look better. Looking at some of these prices though, there are always bargains to be had, wish we went for some more punts.

Whilst I’m pleased with a lot of the murmurs, I was thinking how do we know that we won’t be operating any differently from that of the Pozzo family who owned Watford/Udinese/Granada? At heart is not the same concept?
-
haha sorry I meant of BBC Radio Solent's discussions and talks with Semmens. I've got a bastard meeting at 4:30 😐
-
If anyone is able to put a summary in that would be much appreciated!
-
In terms of productivity - absolutely not!!! Anyone WFH must be spamming F5 today.

Usually details are released a month before, so would expect details on both early next week. As for the criteria, away tickets always go onto sale to Season Ticket holders with "x" number of away games first? If your question is whether it will go down to sale to season ticket holders who hasn't been to any away games yet, I'd like to think yes to both. My prediction is both go to sale all the way down to members really, Spurs would have sold out just to STHs if it wasn't a midweek fixture because getting there is generally a pain. From memory, Palace/Chelsea/West Ham all went to general sale, but Arsenal sold out at season ticket holder stage.

Yep, also I’m pretty sure the £180m that Gao paid was also due to us having a £75m asset in Van Dijk at the time which drove the price up. I sense in this case this new Serb has managed to negotiate well
-
My mate just said “so you guys cost the same price as Jack Grealish?” Mental that.
-
Unreal news, but sadly I'm not informed enough to be able to make a judgement as of yet. Can only hope along with everyone else here that this goes well. My only observation though is £100m seems so cheap in the grand scheme of things, how desperate was Gao in the end?! I wonder if there were other suitors at that price and also whether it was Semmens or Katarina who authorised this sale. I just hope whoever did the due diligence did it well, I have doubts over the Premier Leagues "fit and proper persons test".

I don't really hate anyone other than the opposition during the 90 minutes we are playing, in which case all their players become ****s. Only on the pitch does the other team rile me up, e.g. diving/timewasting/dirty challenge/when opposition players crowd the ref/other football shithousery... But that's the nature of football I suppose. Things have changed a lot now since the 1990s, there isn't really pantomime villains anymore and really many top players are now best mates off the pitch, including after heated Manchester/London derbies etc etc
-
I don’t get it - didn’t Norwich request their West Ham game get postponed 2 weeks ago? Are they now trying to say they have another outbreak within their ranks? I’d love to know if it is the same players or something, otherwise it seems they clearly lack the protocols in place to reduce the spread. Another team obviously trying to delay where possible just to give Smith more time on the training ground to implement his methods then perhaps, wish the PL would be more open or just put their foot down now.

In truth I don’t think I can blame Newcastle for trying to get it off. It’s a dog eat dog world out there, can anyone blame Newcastle for wanting to give themselves the best chance of beating us? In fact I say good on them because in life if you don’t ask you don’t get- if there is a loophole to be exploited it’s rational for them to try to gain an advantage. When there is livelihoods and millions of pounds at stake, expect all ethics to be thrown out of the window. I think all anger should be directed to the PL who have not been transparent in the process and have somewhat lost control of the whole situation which has allowed teams to make a mockery of the rules.

I think they might be willing to be more lenient with clubs not involved in European games, cos there are a number of midweeks they could squeeze them in. I think what the league really want is to try to keep Sky/BT as happy as possible, and reduce any possibility of a rebate for not delivering their product.
