  1. Yep, live on Sky Sports There are lots of tickets left on general sale for this, I mean understandably though. As for Sky Sports, perfect game for them to discuss Burnley’s potential new manager and see if they get that bounce. If I was Ralph, I’d be happy to revert back to the usual 4222 for this and go for it, but importantly I want KWP/Perraud as our fullbacks.
  2. Have to say despite being under the cosh for the majority of the game I enjoyed that, but it helps that we got the result and 3 points. Also I don’t know if it made any difference but going forward I’d prefer the away team to shoot towards the Chapel end in the 2nd half more often.
  3. No one would have predicted at start of the season that Shane Long would be ahead of Adam Armstrong in the pecking order, particularly after that goal at Goodison Park too.
  4. Forster great save against that Smith Rowe shot
  5. Valery has been our worst player on the pitch if I had to choose, what a rash challenge that was on edge of box, and also gave away that stupid pass to Nketiah earlier. Fraser Forster easily our best player on pitch
  6. Don’t think he did get a yellow?
  7. I don’t think we particularly know how to play a 541, Broja looks really isolated and devoid of service. I think we need a 343 or a 352 when attacking, bring players closer to Broja when attacking.
  8. We should have been 1-0 down but the xG of that chance is only 0.18 so 0-0 definitely a fair score right now.
  9. Now Sports seem to think Saints playing a 4231, with Yan Valery at right wing, Stu in the number 10 and Elyounoussi on the left. I am expecting a 541.

  11. Lots of green initiatives this weekend! Hopefully we can propel up the sustainability table 👌
  12. That is being incredibly harsh on someone who has broken a number of assists records in the PL as well as the output he brings. Just because there are 2 good CB's who cover for him means little, I don't think Walker/KWP/Trippier could do it for Liverpool the way he does. He is a player who works really well in the Liverpool system, might not work in others and there is no shame in that.
  13. The Arsenal forum were laughing about that, saying how typical that they were the only team to lose to us in that period.
  14. Meh, we signed someone who had 28 in that same division last season. I'm not saying we should never buy from the Championship again, but like all signings it comes with risks. Before the season the debate was who would fare better out of Toney and Armstrong, right now the answer is obvious.
  15. If you mean by one team then yes no team has ever scored 10 in one match but we have had 6 games in the PL where 10 or more goals have been scored. Anyway, I’m not entirely disputing what you say and yes I agree high scoring matches are incredibly rare but what I want to say, and as the article says: “xG should be used as indicative and supportive information for decision making purposes and generating opinions rather than a finite answer to the performance of a team or player.” What seems to be happening is that xG is seen largely as the be all and end all and taken as gospel. There are plenty of other stats we can use out there, not just those which try to suit ones respective narrative.
  16. xG uses a load of assumptions, it doesn’t necessarily make it a fact. Even the bloke who created the model says it will fail to predict a high scoring game, hence why you think Chelsea only should have scored 4. https://www.sportperformanceanalysis.com/article/what-are-expected-goals-xg
  17. MANAGER Thomas Tuchel has revealed Saints walked into a Chelsea trap, saying “we expected” the high-press and it was “set out for Timo Werner to deliver”. “We expected a 4-4-2 and both number sixes to press high." “So we wanted to pin the defenders with two strikers and find Mason (Mount) in a bit of an open position between the lines." “We had a bit of a different role for the wing-backs because we anticipated an aggressive 4-4-2 and wanted to have three midfielders against their two midfielders and have an ideal position for Kai (Havertz) and Timo (Werner)." "That was the idea behind it but, of course, it's not about the idea. It's about how we played, how committed we played, and with what quality we played." “It was a different mindset. A different attitude. And it was then followed by all the quality." "Timo was playing in his favourite position, and he loves to play with Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic" “He has a connection to these players. He loves the double striker position, the half left position." “It was an opponent where we could imagine we’d find spaces in behind because it was a higher attacking opponent. Everything was set out for him to deliver, honestly." Tuchel added: “It was a very good performance offensive-wise but also defensive-wise." “It’s not only a possession game against Southampton, it’s about winning the duels, accepting the physicality." “There was a good mix in all areas of the pitch, in mentality and commitment. It was very, very good.”
  18. I think we have an issue in this country that when a manager has one bad season or gets relegated, they need to be written off and prevented from ever getting a good job again. Jurgen Klopp suffered relegation with Mainz, more older examples we have seen Conte/Wenger suffer relegation too. Back to Howe, his final season at Bournemouth shouldn’t define him. For the record, I think both are pretty similar and whilst I’ll stick with Ralph for now, I wouldn’t rule Howe out for the future.
  19. We need to bench Bednarek, and definitely for next season. Ideally I’d like to flog him for £15m to a foreign club or £20m to a PL club. He didn’t want to play against City in the FA Cup in case he gets injured, now imagine what he will be like next season when the World Cup starts in November? He won’t turn up for our first 10 games. Salisu needs some experienced head next to him - I think he would have flourished an Evans/Coady/Dier/Dawson/Dunk next to him. Let’s be real even I’d pull my hair out if Bednarek was my starting partner.
  20. Lacazette… Only has 2 goals in 17 PL games and both were penalties. In fact, would anyone like to guess who he last scored against from open play?
