  1. Co-commentator said it wouldn’t finish 1-0, so it makes sense.
  2. Didn’t Ralph once say he likes letting players on the pitch redeem themselves?
  3. Honestly, could be 3 or 4-1, post saved us.
  4. Forster what a great reflex save there!!! Should be 2 down
  5. Weghorst really could have scored their second too. I hate how vulnerable we become after conceding, seems to happen every time.
  6. Burnley 1-0 ffs
  7. We’ve had 5 shots in opening 10 minutes to Burnley’s 0. xG anyone?
  8. I’m not questioning his faith, but whether he is fasting. Some Muslim players don’t fast on matchdays, or some players believe they are exempt for the whole month because they are elite sportsmen. As far as I’m aware his stance hasn’t been confirmed anywhere.
  9. Has this been said anywhere? Or is that an assumption due to name 🤔 (Last year Ralph confirmed Diallo/Djenepo/Salisu as observing it, don’t think anyone asked him this year)
  10. Or because of Ramadan? Djenepo and Walcott don’t even make the bench these days.
  11. Your points are true but don’t know if you saw Bruno Fernandes comments the other day when he came out and said that “we have nothing to play for”. Pretty damning for a Utd side you would think were chasing top 4 So really who knows, let’s hope our players are not on the beach.
  12. Hopefully we can play them in pre-season or something, I can imagine it being hard to get tickets even next season. I went to the pre-season game a few years back at Griffin Park, think Pellegrino was in charge and it finished 2-2. It was a decent atmosphere in the terraces and a good game.
  13. Slightly annoying that whilst the game kicks off at 7:45pm, coverage only starts at 7:30pm. No doubt those 15 minutes will consist 5 minutes of adverts, 5 minutes of talking about Burnley and then 5 minutes as the players walk out on to the pitch. I'd have liked some feature interviews or similar, of course this game isn't the biggest pull but 15 minutes seems like little.
  14. To be fair though, there are 11 players on the football pitch and then we have 20+ squads. Slightly simplistic to look at it that way, They have a fair number of players who would improve our team and vice versa I suppose, but Howe is getting a great reaction from these players and are buying into his methods, so it's working out quite well. Not to discredit Howe either as I don't think Newcastle's surge is purely down to money, but sometimes new managers can come in and become more unpredictable in their play. I think next season will be the litmus test.
  15. Anyone know what Howe's points per game is since he took over? If it is around the 1.6-1.7 mark then they may well be fighting for a European spot next summer, especially if they spend a bucket load more. A great shame they didn't go down this year.
  16. It must be a first for this forum too - first ever women's match thread? Well done ladies, very much deserved, hopefully promoted next month.
  17. Nope, but if we do end up losing tomorrow then that is the only very slight positive spin I can put on it. All this talk of nothing to play for but there is still PL prize money which could give us the funds for a new player. Also I don’t want to go into summer with a terrible end to season, last year we had the Euros but this year I’d dwell on it.
  18. I think so, after the Brighton home game pretty sure Ralph said Alex was unprofessional and that if he was injured he should have signalled to the bench because we still had one sub remaining. Of course, as it transpired, we had JWP running back to goal keeping Maupay onside just to protect McCarthy.
  19. Hello, yeah I will try to jig my memory but Arsenal - sold out to season ticket holders Palace - went to general sale but it was a Thursday night and only had c. 15 normal seats left, the rest were all restricted view. Spurs - went to general sale but only because it was a Wednesday night game, on a weekend it would deffo have gone at season ticket stage Chelsea - went to general sale but was very few tickets left, only singles from memory Watford - I think this went to general sale too but can’t remember West Ham - this went general sale and didn’t sell out, but I think only because it was a Boxing Day fixture where public transport is very limited. Brentford - remains to be seen but I see no chance of it going to members Villa - went to general sale but there was little left Wolves - went to general sale, there were loads left in fact Anfield - went to general sale for restricted seats only Man U - sold out at premium members despite being a Saturday 12:30 KO, I think the Ronaldo factor explains it Man C - went to general sale Everton - surprisingly for an opening day game went general sale and think we even returned some seats If anyone can correct me would be great!
  20. Don’t forget that getting relegated is good too because it means we win more games and get more 3pm kick offs but at the likely expense of ever competing for the FA Cup again
  21. Yep, also they announced the attendance at 76k, which is apparently 2.5k more than yesterday’s game too. I mean I can somewhat understand yesterday given the travel chaos for two Northern teams, but I’m somewhat surprised this tie between 2 London clubs isn’t closer to 80-85k. Perhaps must be due to all the other external factors.
  22. Time to turn this into a Howe vs Ralph vs Broja vs xG thread to answer this question
  23. Agreed, Cornet's last 2 games have really annoyed me, practically sparing Everton right now. I bet if they get relegated he is the first one out the door too.
  24. *PTSD intensifies*
  25. So that means: yx + yn - y = 0 yx + yn = y y(x+n)= y x + n = 1 QED? Is this how they calculate xG?
