  1. We do have some shockers within us, losing 3-0 to WBA last season was disgusting, I don't forget the 2 Cardiff defeats in 2018/19 either, or the one in 2013/14 under Pochettino. 2021/22 - TBC as don't know who has been relegated yet 2020/21 - Fulham - won at home, drew away, WBA - won at home, lost away, Sheffield United - won both home and away (13/18) 2019/20 - Bournemouth - lost at home, won away, Watford - won at home and away, Norwich - won at home and away (15/18) 2018/19 - Cardiff - lost both home and away, Fulham - won at home, lost away (the 3-2 game), Huddersfield - drew at home, won away (7/18) 2017/18 - Swansea - drew at home, won away (Gabbiadini!), Stoke - drew at home, lost away, WBA - won at home and away (11/18) 2016/17 - Hull - drew at home, lost away, Boro - won home and away, Sunderland - drew at home, won away (4-0!) (11/18)
  2. Burnley have won their last two home Premier League games, as many as they had won in their previous 24 at Turf Moor (D11, L11). Southampton have lost consecutive Premier League games against sides in the relegation zone for the first time since November 2003. Burnley have scored five goals in their past two home league games, as many as they'd managed in their previous nine at Turf Moor in the competition. Southampton have conceded more headed goals than any other Premier League side this term (13), and they've never conceded more such goals in a season in the competition.
  3. I'd love to play an old-fashioned 4231 however it just won't happen. I'd be happy to put out the WHU FA Cup team now, basically done with this season so let's see what the fringe players are capable of. Get Djenepo, Walcott, Tella, Stephens, Diallo, Adam Armstrong in perhaps... part of having a big squad is to keep first team players on their toes but right now if we play the same team we are rewarding mediocrity. Also make it a last chance saloon to offer any 2023 expirees a contract. I wouldn't offer all of them a new one, but only a few and attempt to sell the rest. I am going to predict a 1-1 though.
  4. Yesterday in the first half he took a shot on which got blocked when Perraud was making a great run into a dangerous area. It's just a sign of a striker who hasn't scored in a while, when confidence is frail they make the wrong decisions. He is very young though, I just hope he doesn't think he has made it after a good 10 game spell. He might have an offer elsewhere anyway so is going through the motions. I wish we could see statistics like distance covered and number of sprints after the game.
  5. Broja is the least of our worries tonight. Can we talk more about Lyanco missing a header in the first half which whilst offside, shows he has a lot to turn. Also at end of the game naively tried to out run a fresh Vydra and lost the ball. Or how about Valery who was out of position many a times? Romeu was also terrible, other than his missed headers there were a lot of passes he mishit when we were on the attack. We really need an alternative enforcer type player to him when he goes off the boil. JWP really should have aggressively spoken to the ref that he had 2 hands on him from the Burnley player who scored their 2nd goal? Why can’t we be more in the refs face. Not to forget there were 2 times where a Burnley feigns a head injury which the ref signals for and then the ball goes back to them? In the 2nd half Jay-Rod went down when we were on the attack and then as soon as they got the ball back got up all fine? I wish we can learn somethings from the manual of shithousery, annoys me how meek we are.
  6. The problem is, what is our best team? Is it the 4222 that got us our great results against Spurs/City/WHU etc etc? Or is it the same team that lost spectacularly to Villa, Watford and Newcastle, including getting pummelled on aggregate 10-1 by City (FA Cup) and Chelsea (PL) By nature, we have hugely inconsistent players and that is why they play for us and not Liverpool/City etc, who have players that can do bi-weekly games in PL and CL.
  7. Ralph mentioned in the interview I think, admittedly whilst looking angry and frustrated, that our xG in the 2nd half as better. I’m still team Ralph here, let’s see what the transfer budget is like this summer with this new ownership, I think whilst his style of play is admirable it’s not something you can do with inept players, he needs to adapt with what he has.
  8. Have to say our most successful seasons came playing a 4231, some of the best teams in the world use a 433, yet I’m not sure I’ve seen us use these ever.
  9. To be honest this game is done. Brighton away on Sunday now.
  10. xG wouldn’t have picked up that Jay Rod cross, that should have been a goal. Good timing of the run by him but again we are sliced open too easily
  11. If we can get a goal in the next 5 feel like they could cave, but at same time we need some luck here, a dodgy goal of some sort
  12. They should implement a rule where everytime a player goes down due to a head injury they miss the next 5 minutes, can’t be that bad if said players get up in 20 seconds.
  13. Burnley using the dark arts here Hold your head every time we are on the attack
  14. CHE ADAMS WHY DID YOU NOT SHOOT EARLIER
  15. Right JWP position… come on lad
  16. Adams that is like the 3rd time in 4 games where he doesn’t score from a good cross to him in the box. FFS
  17. Goal ruled out okay back to 2-0 phew
  18. 3-0 my word
  19. Get us to 39 points really with some of these duds.
  20. Calling them CBs is generous, these aren’t your Dan Burn/ Dunk / Coady / Tarkowski type defenders
  21. Since April 2016, when 2 goals down at half time… 0 wins, 0 draws and 26 losses
  22. Valery off for Che Adams, Lyanco off for Salisu please. Let’s just accept that Burnley away isn’t the sort of physical games for these two… It’s one thing dealing with Nketiah, another completely different beast with Weghorst.
  23. Looks like the whole team is fasting!!!
  24. Weghorst has had 7 touches in the box tonight, in previous 13 games he has averaged 2.8. Commentator: “just shows he is improving” Umm no, he is just playing Saints…
