  1. Not entirely, we don’t know yet what profile of player we go for, the wages we offer, whether we break the £20m barrier etc etc I’m sure we’ll balance the books but could be operating with slightly bigger numbers that is all.
  2. Correct, I had the privilege of being able to attend at Wembley. Honestly Messi was the star of the show just glides past players with ease. However what hurt more is not beating that Italy team last summer, they were bang average if we just attacked them more.
  3. Let’s just shut down the forum then!
  4. Anyone else wanting Huddersfield up? Nottingham would be a good away day and they've been long missed from the PL but think Huddersfield the likelier to go down should they get promoted.
  5. Interesting views, I wonder how much of it was due to post-war attitudes and wanting your fellow Englishmen and English teams to beat some of our adversaries across Europe. I agree now with comment above - Liverpool winning only widens the financial gap which does us less favours and in our globalised world players, owners and managers alike are now all internationals.
  6. See I think he has progressed and reached his potential, which is a lower/bottom-half PL player, and I don't think he will get better than that. Not every young player will reach Van Dijk or Mane levels, but will likelier just top off at being an average PL player. https://www.allsoccer.co.uk/news/ive-scored-lots-of-goals-against-premier-league-top-clubs-i-dont-feel-the-need-to-prove-myself-in-the-league-robert-lewandoski/ “I feel like I have scored a lot of goals against Premier league top clubs while playing for a Bundesliga club. Now what sense will it make for me to move to England to prove myself against Southampton? I saw Cavani moving from the French Ligue 1 saving Manchester United last season multiple times. So why didn’t he fail? Because they say to me come prove yourself in Premier League. Cavani was a top striker despite not playing in Premier League before and he will be forever be top striker like other strikers around the world. Stay where you are happy, for me the only place to prove your worth is in the Champions League because you only play against Champions.” Lewandowski's comments above made me laugh, because what he says it true. He must see his compatriot Bednarek during the internationals and think "how is he is good enough to start for a PL team?"
  7. You clearly don't understand definitions of burden of proof, evidence or opinion.
  8. I’d love to have Nigel Adkins back in some capacity, even though promotion season was now 10 years ago! Where has the time gone!!! Although to be honest my thinking is definitely more sentimental than rational. Thierry Henry was assistant to Martinez at Belgium I think. I’d like a big name in there at the highest level and I’m not talking about Theo Walcott.
  9. Yeah but you should know by now we are the only club in the Prem to have bonus fees and agent fees to pay. No wonder we have no money to spend
  10. Different type of players - Maddison is competing more with Foden, Mount, Bellingham, Grealish as an attacking number 10 in a midfield 3, and also at least 3 of the 4 I have mentioned can also play on the wing too in an attacking role. I do think JWP only made it though because there is no Jordan Henderson.
  11. Right-backs: Trent, James, Justin, Trippier, Walker I assume that James Justin/Trippier will be the squad left backs. A shame no KWP but that would be down to our poor form I think.
  12. You could literally say that for most managers though if you "replace with quality so he has something to work with"
  13. "The Austrian Bundesliga side finished sixth in this season’s competition and will be a particularly notable opponent for Saints manager Ralph Hasenhüttl, as his son, Patrick, is part of their squad."
  14. The problem with this forum now is we can't do polls unless it is on a new thread. We had one here anyway: I doubt it would improve since our defeats to Liverpool and Leicester. 60% in favour of him leaving.
  15. Also not that I’m putting my tin foil hat on, I do think some of the people that call in on Talksport and the like are paid actors, designed to say controversial stuff and generate likes/comments on social media and those silly clickbait websites like sportsbible
  16. Isn't it Martin Glover? But I think Leicester want him and I'm not sure on the latest updates as to whether he will serve his notice period with us or if he will move to Leicester asap.
  17. I think I'd keep him/give him a chance again. I don't think he is good enough to play up front on his own as a lone striker. I don't know why, but I feel like he could be an okay LW if we ever wanted to play a 433 or something. I'd like to see what a person with different ideas can do to reinvigorate him because I'm not sure he will flourish under Ralph. 7-10 goals has to be his aim next season.
  18. Both bigger than us, and will possibly have a greater net spend than we do. I think Leeds will probably will be there around with us though, I'm hoping their board think their season was more due to Bamford, Kalvin being out and so that final win is more a papering over the cracks kinda thing. Now MLG, I can already picture your response of "how do you know they will spend more than us" because truth is I don't know what our finances are like under the new ownership, can only go off what we have already seen and the soundbites we have heard.
  19. The prices for 2022/23 to round off this years annual relegation thread. Bet365 ranks 5 other teams at the moment as more likelier to get relegated, though to note one of Nottingham Forest/Huddersfield will also probably be in that list after the play-off final.
  20. Honestly really wanted us to get Caleta-Carr over this bloke. I’ll assume his wages won’t be too high, so should be able to cut our losses more easier than others.
  21. Did you provide those comments on 31st December 2020?
  22. How does anyone know exactly what things are behind the scene though? It’s a forum, he can comment on what he perceives the backroom staff to act like. We can argue his assistants aren’t doing enough or Ralph is stubborn based on our recent results. All just his opinion, even if he didn’t use the words “I think” or “in my view’ explicitly (though he did use “I feel”) Whenever the cameras pan to Ralph on the touchline it always seems like to me he only consults Richard and no one else. None of us will know what goes on in training but lately the form of lot of these players have dropped.
  23. I was just about to type this! We've already sang the national anthem on Tuesday, booed Danny Ings at Villa Park, gave Mason Greenwood abuse at OT... could be the first set of fans to get involved in the "Wagatha Christie" trial.
  24. @Sheaf Saint this is why I always felt Everton were too good to go down! They have enough quality regardless of who is in charge, you can’t spend £500m like that and go down
  25. I wouldn't mind asking if Aaron Wan-Bissaka wants to come here on loan and assuming KWP wants to really switch to the left... Although AWB probably out of our price range for wages... or to take other fringe players on loan that aren't the likes of Walcott from a big 6 club
