He would but Rodri is better. For City I suppose they can afford £100m on Grealish as sub and play in enough competitions to give everyone game time. 5 sub rule will also help

“That was really hard to swallow ... Lukaku was so important for us, not just because of his goals. If things were not going well in a game, if we could not play the way we were used to, there was always the option to use the long ball towards him.” Everton faced Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in their opening nine league games and Koeman, who spent heavily in the summer to overhaul the squad, said he knew it would be tough going when the fixture list came out. “I looked at it and saw that five of our first nine games would be against clubs from last season’s top six...,” Koeman added. “I said to myself, ‘Phew! That is not going to be an easy run, in particular with a Europa League run at the same time’. And, most of all, because I had lost my striker Lukaku.” ^^^Koeman's words after he got sacked by Everton... I'd say based on those fixtures our fans could be restless after the Wolves game if it goes pear shaped

My prediction is that we'll play every other team in the PL, once at home and once away. Apologies for ruining the surprise when today's fixtures are announced.

I hope we get anything that will keep our match on a Saturday at 3pm, I suspect City, Liverpool and United are bankers to be on the telly first up, so a Palace/Brighton midtable fixture would be good. Also would expect Nottingham to be on TV having spent 23 years out the PL. I think if we get say 6 to 7 of last season's top 10 in our fixtures leading up to the WC break, and then start poorly, it could be curtains for Ralph. The 30 days off and any perceived easier fixtures after that break would be an opportune time to get someone else in. Roll on tomorrow, the annual calendar planning begins.

Kick-ins instead of throw-ins: a potential rule change!
nta786 replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Silly idea, personally think it would slow the game down more as players try to get into position akin to a corner. Also if I was a defender I’d actively try to give a corner away than for a “kick-in”. Having said that, I’m willing to bet this idea won’t come to fruition and will remain as that - just an idea. -
Don't care what anyone says but I'm proud we have managed 10 seasons in the PL and 27 seasons in a row before that in our previous stint. A lot of clubs would rip your arm off for longevity in the PL and it puts us on the map. I'd love trophies too as much as the next person and wish our cabinet had more but ultimately if we're gonna win any in the future then we'll have to stay in the PL to do that.

I agree, but then it leads me to the question which great players do fit the 4222? If we had Salah or Son for instance where would they play? Up front or on the number 10/wing position? Or where would a Kevin De Bruyne fit into that formation? If we take it down a notch, where would a Rashford or Saint-Maximin play? I don't mind the "4222" against the better teams if we use it to park the bus with 2 banks of 4, but against the lesser teams it just seems devoid of quality in the number 10 role or we get overrun in midfield. I hope we are trying something different this summer.

Pffft who is to say the club aren't using a fax machine or typewriter to negotiate with Long, what would his missus know. On a more serious note, I'm happy to keep Shane on a £10k a week contract. It's still more money than 99% of the public earn ffs. If he can get more elsewhere than good for him and we'd all give our blessings and thank him for the 8 years of service.

Yep Bednarek got the lowest points tally possible ever for that game on Fantasy Football, he got a "-7", which no one will probably ever beat. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55921200

@Matthew Le God I summon you to answer this please!

That is a decent fixture to be fair so well done Saints on getting them to come over. I far prefer playing tougher opposition than being lulled into a false sense of security by beating some obscure team 8-0 or something. La Liga starts on 12 August, so in theory we should be closer to being prepared for the season more so than Villareal.

I think some of us had hopes that things might change slightly under new owners that is all. I don't want to think come end of the transfer window we just have a Gao MK II
-
Well I don’t MLG, I was going off Dan Sheldon’s tweet and mini-article on the Athletic. If it turns out there is one then sure I’ll provide an opinion on it - better that than to sit there trying to find holes in every post.

Sorry but I’m disappointed. I’ll eat humble pie later if it comes to it but I am very underwhelmed. If this guy was rated any highly City would either put in a buy-back clause or send him on loan again to easily get him back, or even keep him to displace Steffen as their No. 2. City do well on this front to inflate their accounting profits by selling players like these who are held at nil net book value. However, I don’t know how much we’ll spend this summer because I’m still of the mindset that £11m is a big chunk in our budget, but McCarthy gives me little confidence.

didn't you know that it's using the coutinho money and for them it means more.

https://preorder.castore.com/products/mens-home-pro-shirt Newcastle have black and white stripes on the front and the back. So for anyone who said that it was a PL ruling for back to be plain or something, why can Newcastle do it? I suppose they can also house away fans up in the Gods, Saints are too nice as a team.

Theo's words also suggest he will stay here next season then right, not going to MLS or elsewhere as previous rumours seen
-
I’d like us to go for Bergwijn for about £20m-£25m if possible. I just don’t like dealing with Spurs though.
-
Yes it did and I was very happy!!!

Epsom… No tax evasion or avoidance though
