  1. From a business point of view, there is no point in installing these “rails”/standing seats As it stands it wouldn’t give us any extra capacity as it would most likely be capped by the number of seats in the block currently anyway, we’d obviously have to spend money installing them, and then finally fans would probably expect that particular area to be cheaper which makes it less financially viable. I’d rather the club spent the money towards the transfer kitty! I suppose the argument is whether safe standing would improve atmosphere and results on the pitch, but that isn’t quantifiable, however cheaper tickets would improve the general feel good factor.
  2. MLG will eat you alive with that "Pay as you manage deals are non existent.... why would a manager agree to that"
  3. If we were to win a cup this year in either home/away/3rd kit I’d probably pick it up at any price to be fair.
  4. What will the away end chant now given that we aren't "Yellows" anymore?
  5. That is the plan of course but not guaranteed. I hope these players are given relatively low wages considering their standing too, should hopefully make them hungrier to earn the 100k+ in the future with the big boys. I'm excited for next season only because of the upside, to me it is a high risk high reward game we are playing but that is the game the club want to pay without going into the way Villa, Leicester, WHU, Newcastle etc do their business so I am all for it.
  6. My guess is it’ll be done after City sign Kalvin. No idea why, just a hunch.

  8. Perhaps not, but I wonder if down the line rather than 10 years it should be 8 years to qualify for a testimonial. Thanks for the service Shane, I won't ever question his work rate on the pitch and whilst his output was lacking, on the face of it I think it has been £12m well spent.
  9. If there is any substance to KWP wanting to play on the left it'll only be because that is his only way to make the world cup this winter. It's so exciting for once to be linked with all these players too now, I wonder if we are using the media more aggressively or it's agents ramping it up or a bit of both. It makes it better though when it ends up being someone completely out the blue like ABK
  10. It makes me wonder though, is this guy 1/2 as good as Phillips then? Trying to gauge how good he is or else surely City would have wanted him as their 2nd choice DM. It's a win-win for them too really, if he turns out a Championship player then they make £10m, if he is a world beater than they get him for £50m-ish which is nothing for them. I wonder why they wouldn't want to take a Broja route and just loan him to us unless there is more in the offing
  11. I like the kit but when did kits become £55 rather than £50? Also 29th July is a long time to wait until you receive your kit
  12. Kalvin is literally the perfect player to put on in the new 5-sub era we're about to begin if City are 1 or 2 up, and £45m is relatively decent fee I think even after the English premium is added on. He'll be more than good enough to start games against the bottom 14 clubs which represents c. 47% of a potential 60 game season.
  13. Well wasn't Hojbjerg captain for the first one? If I'm gonna use the 9-0 lines, it's the stick to beat Ralph with than JWP
  14. I though Kitzbichler was more of a video analyst to analyse the opposition then someone who is on the training ground doing drills etc etc
  15. Probably by waiting for the clock to strike 11pm on 1st September?
  16. Well if he came into the club the media would recognise us as "Wayne Rooney's Southampton", that's for sure.

Not a guarantee this is all successful though. How did it work out for Watford? I can picture the response already though... "I said potentially benefit" or "where did I say it would" or my personal favourite "you clearly don't understand definitions of burden of proof, evidence or opinion."
  18. Quite interesting I thought, I know it is just Block 31 but that is disgraceful to be 3rd on that list. WHU and Man City offering some of the cheapest is no surprise, only way they get so many in. I guess in WHU’s case it helps getting the stadium practically free. Club should just extend the £399 price to all across the Chapel but even then the take up in the Itchen South is lower than I expected. Apparently all but 6 clubs have a waiting list and that’s why a stadium expansion won’t be on the cards ever.

Probably, but also just success on the pitch is what I am assuming the poster is relating to is key to "being well run". Our end of season form 2 years running has scuppered top 10 chances. I think if you had to ask a neutral which teams are "well-run" outside the Top 6 in the Prem, the majority would set Leicester as the benchmark. 2 seasons in the top 5, an FA cup, 2European campaigns all post 2018. You can argue Brighton, Wolves, WHU are also "better ran" then us, but then we'd need to really delve into the definition of what it means to be well run. United are probably the worst run? Then Everton and Watford perhaps? All subject to debate.
  20. " Southampton will only receive a lump sum — believed to be around 15 to 20 per cent — of any profit that Liverpool make on the player." - per the Athletic. The amount Saints received for Mane I remember fluctuated between £30m to £38m, but I'd guess based on the success and trophies he has won we received the full amount.
  21. What if he ends up really bad, or has a Karius moment and loses all confidence and becomes rubbish? £12m could be a lot come end of the window, I've no idea what our budget / net spend is with the new owners. In truth I hope City do take him for £40m+ after 2 years. at least that way I'll know he has been a success.
  22. Why couldn't we be this brutal to Shane Long and Theo Walcott?
  23. Currently the bookies favourite to be sacked first.
  24. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10922913/West-Ham-preparing-bids-Sotuhamptons-James-Ward-Prowse-Sevilla-forward-Yousef-En-Nesyri.html The Daily Mail now linking JWP to West Ham. I'd set the price at whatever they receive for Declan Rice.
