Two ways of looking it: 1) We are helping him recover which in turns helps him remain a professional footballer, thus protecting his livelihood. He could repay this trust in club on the pitch, as we'd all like him to. 2) The club have a vested interested in his recovery as a healthy player is more tradable asset than a crocked one. Indeed, a player with the kind of injury he had would effectively be dead and buried at a club with a poorer or no medical team. The club would have to write the asset off. By getting him better, Saints can demand a higher price if they do sell him (which we don't them to).

Ronald Koeman on Artur Boruc's future at Saints

Back to where we started then. God help us if Forster gets injured and we have to put Gazza back in goal. -
That's more like it. Testing the keeper from distance.

Awful defending. Two defenders completely failed to track Sterling.

Yoshida did get turned way too easily there, but he was covering at left back position. Bertrand hadn't got back.

A fair enough prediction, but no need for the lame quip about us not having enough players. That joke is already old. Hasn't he been paying attention?

I've made a Fantasy Football team along similar lines. Threw in a couple of other former Saints to make up the numbers (Walcott, Chamberlain, Baird, Crouch, Puncheon).

So … the club should be expected to honour a verbal agreement, but Morgan shouldn't have to honour a legally-binding written one? Sorry mate, but you can't have it both ways. Either agreements mean something all the time, or they mean nothing. Besides, even if you want to go to Spurs, it all kind of hinges on whether they pay a fair price. You can't claim to be good enough for a 'big club' but expect to be sold for a mid-table price. If Shane Long costs £12m, you are worth a lot more than the £10m Spurs allegedly bid.

So then, how is the asset stripping going then lads..?

What a sad bunch of lady parts you are. I'm sure you've been 100% right in every thing you've ever said about Saints. Not that I was anywhere near 100% wrong. I stand by my comments at the time. -
I've made a team called Liverhampton FC and filled it with former Saints players as much as possible. I'll need to make a few updates, but when I chose it the line-up was: Boruc (No former Saints GKs at other PL clubs. Might change to Forster.) Begovic (As above. At least he plays for a team that wears red and white stripes) Shaw Lovren Chambers Baird Lallana Puncheon Walcott Oxlade-Chamberlain Schneiderlin (Had assumed he and J-Rod would be sold when I made the team) Lambert Crouch Rodriguez (as above) Will be interesting to see how well they do. I'll be judging their post-Saints success by the number of points they get me.

Love it. Just a couple of tweaks, if I may: Lallana's called in sick, Lallana's called in sick, He's a true scouser now A lazy little *****.
-
It's funny that he wants to play for Spurs, when it seems Spurs value him so little. If I were him, I'd take a £10m bid for my services as an insult.

Have we ever had a squad with more players with accents in their names?
andoru replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
Yep, noticed that as soon I'd posted, but I don't know how to edit comments. Even editors make typos, but I was hoping nobody would notice. Cheers! -
I expect the Polish team will be fined, not eliminated. There was a similar case before like this involving Debrecen. UEFA ruled the team gained no advantage from putting on an ineligible player for the last three minutes when they were already 4-1 up, so just fined them £15,000.

"Intellectual rigour" is by far the nicest way someone has told me I'm anal. Haha. -
Something about "We can see you on the Bence"?
-
Lambert wasn't signed to become their leading striker, and I'm pretty sure he knew that. He's a back up, probably intended to be played in some of the easier games while Sturridge and Suarez' replacement (if one comes) take the Champions League matches.

I've been in China for seven years. I can assure you it takes a lot longer than six to master a language.
-
Perhaps he means that Schneiderlin simply does a good job of expressing himself well in his second language? I can sound vaguely intelligent in Chinese, but that's intelligent 'for an Englishman'.

Contracts and Football - How could the game change?
andoru replied to Torrent Of Abuse's topic in The Saints
Problem with that is you'd then have players only agreeing to short term contracts. The very best could afford to do that, knowing there would be another team willing to sign them when the contract is up. Imagine Lallana etc had only had 12 month contracts. They could have run them down, then switched teams as free agents and Saints would have got no money for losing them. The contract protects the player as an asset for the club. -
Apologies if anyone has already linked to this, but here's an article about Lovren and Schneiderlin. https://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/pitchside-europe/schneiderlin-lovren-actions-underscore-serious-problems-southampton-115938009.html
