  1. Cheers for making this thread, totally warranted. Let's make one each time we see an 'article' of this sort over the next 2 and a bit months.
  2. We do have Yann Valery who from the sounds of things is really one to watch. And McCarthy probably felt he doesn't have a route in the first team. We wanted him to be a CB.
  3. A bit weird he's leaving when comparatively, we persevered with Isgrove for so long when it was clear he was total **** (yes I know he's now been released but we gave him a couple of extensions during his time here). Obviously McCarthy feels he will be better served moving as well.
  4. It was actually this guy, I was just proving how easy it is to start a totally fabricated, b*ll**** rumour, no offence OP. https://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photography-businessman-paper-bag-smile-head-showing-ok-sign-against-white-background-image34173282
  5. I went on holiday to Las Vegas once, bumped into a Chairman who shall remain unnamed. He personally invited me to stay with a team of players who has just won promotion to the premier league. A few drinks helped the week flow and before you knew it I was in a strip club doing coke with a man whose head was shaped like a cardboard box.

    Puel out

Has he even had a chance in those games during his goal draught? The penalty vs Utd the only one I can remember. Feel sorry for him, we have not played to his strengths recently.

    Gabbiadini

Aiming the goal kicks to Bertrand on the touchline is fine I would say. Spurs do it with Walker, and Bertrand is good in the air. The other side not so much, and when the ball has been back-passed to Fraser, spotting JWP in a decent position should not automatically mean hitting a hopeful ball to him. In the same sense as my previous post, Fraser could hit a long ball straight down the middle to Pelle, and he would compete and more often than not get something on it. It's best playing out as much as possible (not helped if the crowd get restless at the slightest press from the opposition!) but then we end up with slow play getting the ball forward.

    Gabbiadini

No service... Players can't get into the right positions to cross to him without allowing the opposition defence to get numbers back and organised. See the first two goals vs Utd in cup final, got the ball forward and quickly, hard low cross and Gabbi's movement and finishing was too good for Utd. Deep crosses into him vs 5 defenders who are all set on his own is not going to work. Like we are playing expecting Pelle in the middle, and also when we lump the ball up to him when we are clearing our lines, we expect Pelle to bring it down or win the header, Gabbi can not do that so its strange we expect him too. When he joined we played to his strengths, we haven't exploited them since his injury.
  9. In hindsight, even if Shaw had stayed fit, the £32m for him and £10m we spent on Bertrand was a cracking trade overall.

  11. Sit right in the middle of the corner of the Kingsland North. Good atmosphere, great view, and you sit down. Just stay about halfway up or lower.
  12. Seems to have pimped himself about a bit following being released. You don't usually hear Academy lads in the press touting themselves if they've been released.
  13. In the 4-2-3-1 we've been playing since Gabbiadini arrived Davis has been playing in the 2, and therefore a DM. Romeu plays the 'Anchor' role, but Davis is still a Defensive Midfielder. Without the ball Tadic effectively drops into the CM role.
  14. And yet Redmond and JWP are some of our most in-form players. Do you keep playing them as they are in form and are likely to keep playing well, or sacrifice them for Boufal who has been poor? But the only way he can get some form is playing matches. The bit in bold in your post suggests you've been on the good stuff though. Particularly as Tadic is pretty much guaranteed starter now behind Gabbiadini, with JWP and Redmond wide. Pre Gabbi's injury.
  15. Neither are DMs, but Davis is not good enough as a CAM, and can't say yet about Hoj's potential. His (lack of) excellent touch/vision/shooting lead me to believe he is a CM, therefore, playing alongside Romeu I think would suit him more, as he can play box-to-box, rather than be relied upon attacking/defensively. He can link play. Perhaps one day he can be a CAM but at the moment I'd say he would be best as as a DM in our current system.
  16. There used to be a little minibus that picked up from opposite Woolston station, and drops off outside the ground, must have got it every time I went to a match for years. Was £1, absolute bargain, although the driver always let too many people on board. Not seen it for a while though. Now you either walk over the Itchen bridge, or pay £2.50 (rip-off) or whatever it is for a regular bus to drop you off the other side of the bridge, and then walk the rest.
  17. Hojbjerg suits DM more than AM so probably replaces Clasie in your line-up, and I think Clasie will be shipped out (more of a Koeman than black box signing). Sims to be back-up for Tadic?
  18. There's no singing before kick-off as the music is screaming up to the point of walking out of the tunnel, and half the ground is empty until about 5 minutes before then. 3 sides of the stadium are silent the majority of the game anyway. Or sometimes they clap to the tune of the singing from the Northam/Itchen North/Kingsland North. And the Northam feel the need to sing about Pompey every 3 or 4 songs. The PA system was inaudible before, in fact you could only ever hear it in the loos which was a health and safety disaster waiting to happen. It's good they've improved it.
  19. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-01-26/video-shane-long-goal-liverpool-southampton-efl-cup Edit: Just seen I've been beaten to it.
  20. I bought Membership at the start of the season and used it for priority for the Europa Bundle, and when we all thought we would sell out Inter away. I was annoyed Liverpool away semi final didn't count (as well as Arsenal away) as I went to that match, so bought a ticket for the Arsenal drubbing at home (****e match, had to sit in the Chapel etc.) after Saints said it counted. I think it was worth it, got my tickets this morning. There is still like 5000 tickets left so every chance they'll release more criteria. Might go +4,+3,+2,+1 or may go to General sale, that's what for Inter we did didn't we? General and a purchase history after members. Southampton FC is a business, as are all football clubs, if they can peddle out memberships halfway through the season, at full price, obviously they will.
  21. Sounds like horrendously located disabled seating, and some ****s. Contact the club.
  22. Nobody knows what he's done specifically. IF it's ligament damage to ankle then he will likely miss c. 6 weeks so yes out of the final. Looked bad so I'd assume out of the match against Sunderland at the least.
