  1. As much as I know how much better off we are now I still cant help but think about last year when Jan's young side played Derby off the pitch at Pride Park with some of the most attractive football seen by a saints team in years. I remember the bloke behind me was practically in tears!! Lots of fans that day were saying we would make the play offs!!! I think as a coach and not manager/ Head coach Jan would be a really asset to many teams.
  2. it came to me in the car this morning.... To the tune of Matthew Wilder - Break my stride Nobody gonna breaker his stride Nobody gonna slow him down woo ho The Papa n' Waigo Boogie!! Repeat until we win I'll get my coat...
  3. Where is Holmes??If not injured and in the frame I can't understand why he did not get a run out on Tuesday...unless of course he was being saved for tonight?? My only concern with signing DC is that Adam L will now have to revert back to the midfield having come alive over the last couple of games playing ust off lambert. He is clearly not a winger and does he have the discipline to play as the attcking central midfielder??
  4. last season against Reading at home I thought Oscar was the best player on the pitch... but what do I know!! CM would seem to be the position for him
  5. Best Post in a long while
  6. Totally agree. When Mills and Waigo came on we looked a different side. For me Mills has to start. He looked bright and full of running, he also delivered two of the best corners I have seen saints deliver in a long time. The only downside of the day for me was that I arrived too late to get tickets for the Northem (came from Liverpool) so ended up in the Kingsland...good view but no atmosphere!!
  7. sorry that should say header!
  8. the forty yard from the congealed twins was a tatic that saints had been working on for years
  9. Whilst I hardly ever post on here...i just have to say that 19c you really are a bell
  10. the worst footballer to pull on a saints shirt - fact. He really is awful
  11. just back. just to echo the thoughts of others at the game...we were simply tosh. I dont think I have seen a worse performance from the lads in a long time...and i was at Rotherham..terrible. No width, no shape, could not string a pass together. I know last year was a shambles but at least we knew how to pass and keep a football. Mr Lambert must be wondering why he joined us. I aslo have to say that Wotton is by far the worst saints player in history..he brings nothing to the party apart from a lot of pointing...until he is out of the side I cant see how we can progress I am truely depressed this evening...
  12. Met Sir Bobby at my graduation in Ipswich, shock his hand and told him he was he greatest English manager ever. He shock his head and said "It's not about me today son it's about you". A true gent - RIP
  13. this is not going to happen
  14. what about this... ....................Davis............. james........Perry...size....wolves staduim ..................wotton.................... mclaggon......euell....MS.....holmes ...................Saga................... just a thought.....
  15. I got to the game really early yesterday and had a very quick chat with Cork as he was going into the ground. He said he is heading back to Chelsea today where he is going to talk about his future. He said he wants to come back for the rest of the season and see's no reason why this should not happen. I asked him to sign for us for ten years...and he just laughed! Seems like a top bloke. I thought Perry and Cork were outstanding yesterday
  16. Just a totally fantastic day out!! Took the Mrs along for her third saints game (she is a liverpool fan) and we never loose when she attends!!! she is going to have to come every week!! Thought we were unlucky to be two down at the break although as others have said in the box we were not much cop. Second half was like watching a different team. I actually thought DMG had a very good game ( and I normally think he is a lazy arse) he dropped into the hole normally played by lallana and was immense. He looks naturally more suited to playing a role where he can run at defenders rather then with his back to goal. I thought Thomson looked ok, just needs to build his confidence up as he looked scared to take on his man today at times today. Scoring a 90th minute winner after being two day will leave smiling for days
  17. "Due to our dire financial situation today's match ball has been replaced by a grape stolen from Asda by Bradley Wright Phillips"
  18. Now that John has gone, how about Euell upfront as the lone striker holding it up for the others to come onto?
  19. Overall I thought we played well. We started slowly and then really came into the game towards the end of the first half. BWP had a wonderful chance to put us one up but blazed it over the bar, having said that he had a fairly lively game and seemed up for it. It was good to see Rudi back and considering he has not played much football this season had a decent game. Perry was a rock at the back and I would much rather have Gillet in the team than Wotton any day. For me I really think we are missing Holmes at the moment. Watching Webber last night just went to show that if you have a player with confidence and pace running at the defence, it just scares the living daylights out of them. We really couldn't handle him in the second half last night. Just to agree with the other posts David Molgoldrick just does not have it. He looked uninterested last night when he came on and I have no idea how he made it is a pro. He should have scored with a late header but missed by a mile
  20. me too....any idea about parking near the ground?
  21. coming over from Liverpool for this one...I have no idea why...it's going to be like watching another man make love to your wife for 90 minutes... Saints hammered at by at least 4 goals
  22. For what it's worth...this is what I think... This season you effectively have to view saints as a new business...New boss..new staff (players)...unfamiliar offices (The pitch)...no money...no reputation.. Traditionally all business's struggle in their first year and I see the current saints side being no different. I was there on Tuesday and we were truly awful the worst I have seen in a long time. Apart from Sterns goal ( Which was a beauty) I think we could still be playing now and have not scored...however my point is that things will improve as people begin to settle. Yes of course we are missing a decent left and right back as well as probably a CM but give it time and the players playing now will develop together just like any business and we will start to see results... The difference between the playing squad from this year and last year can only be likened to Chris Martin from Coldplay deciding to give up singing and take up being a pilot..yes he is going to crash 9 times out of 10 to begin with but give him a year and enough encouragement, practice and training and i bet he could turn that figure around to land 9 times out of 10 ......Rubbish comparison I know ..but you get my point
